People seem to really like the Wine and Dine. What is it in particular that makes that race so fun?
If I'm not mistaken, the W&D Half was Disney's first night time "marathon" race in 2010. They added the ToT 10 miler (a new night time race) just this year. This will be my third year running the W&D. And yes, it is pretty cool running through 2-1/2 parks (we really didn't get to run in Epcot the first two years...but some maps released for this year's race shows a portion going through FW in Epcot!). In 2010, the 5K in the morning was run through MK, so if you ran that too (Joe, Deb, and I did!), you got to run through 3-1/2 parks in one day.
I like the fact that it's all run in the dark. I do all my training before sunrise down here in Houston. It's just too blankity-blank hot to run after the sun comes up here. So the W&D Half just mimics my training runs, only at night time! It's also pretty cool running through AK in the dark, then through DHS with all the Osborne Lights on. Anyhoo, just my take on it...
I signed up for one of the very last F&W events on Sunday morning after the Saturday night W&D Half. I signed up for the Sweet Sundays demonstration from 10am until noon, so I won't stay too late at the after-party. I was also able to snag a New Fantasyland Preview ticket for late Sunday afternoon today (available to AP holders). The preview is 5pm - 8:30pm. Hope I can stay awake! It includes a tour of the new "Be Our Guest" restaurant, a ride on "Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid" and "Enchanted Tales with Belle".
Augie - Confirmed. You're a bit crazy.
Phil - Great news on the twins! Get some cross-training done in that nursery!
Supposed to be in the 60's tomorrow morning for my run (that's at 4:30am in Houston...), so I'm excited! Such cool temperatures! Much better than 10 miles in 78 degree heat (yes, that was my early Friday morning run).
Paddle on, Ducks!
