Hello Ducks, It sounds like everyone's training is going well. DW and I have been running a few times a week together. I still fo my morning runs and on Tues, Wed, Thurs I do 3 miles each day with her and then her long run on Saturday. Also I do my long run on Sunday. I'm hitting about 30 - 35 miles a week right now and feeling pretty good. Although soon I am going to have to cut back a little on running with DW, I think it will give her a chance to hit the times without me in her ear and will save some mileage on mine. Hope everyone has a great week!

Tim

Good Morning Ducks!!! How is everyone? We woke up this morning to cooler weather 43 and windy. It felt awesome on my run that is until I finished and tried to stretch in the driveway. It looks like it may be around for at least the next week. Anyway just wanted to say good morning. Hope you all have a great day!!!

Well fellow Duckies, I've got my first race this weekend and I'm seriously so amped about it! I'm trying to remind myself not to start off too fast. I just ran my best 5k time last Sunday (24:34) because of, well, let's just say competitive spirit. I hope I can contain myself Saturday. By looking at last year's times, I've got a shot at medaling in my age division in my first race. It's a chip-timed event so I should at least get an accurate time and feel for how I can do in an actual race setting.

Wish me luck!!!!! I'll report back on how I did.

dragitoff: GOOD LUCK with your race. You'll do fine and just think since it is your first race you will set a PR. Good Luck again!!!

Tim

Brandon: good luck on your race this weekend:thumbsup2.
Tim: nice job on the weekly mileage:).
Good job everyone on the training.
I have been riding the stationary bike the last couple of weeks. My foot is on the mend and I am going to try a short run this weekend.
Debbie & I have a Halloween themed 10k on the 29th. It should be fun, they are limiting the participants to 950. It will seem weird after a Disney race.
Still no luck on convincing Debbie to do the WDW half with me in January, but I think we are at least doing the 5k. The theme is 3 Caballeros, hopefully it has a cool shirt.
Have a good week everyone.:donald:

Hi to all the Duckies:hippie:.
How did the running events go over the weekend?
Laura: Good luck on the Marine Corp marathon this weekend.:cool1:

And good luck to anyone else doing a running event this weekend.

My foot has been feeling better, I wanted to test it out on a run yesterday, but I had to work over yesterday and it rained yesterday. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow.

Have a good week everyone.
Joe

Thanks, Joe!

I am Marine Corps Marathon bound tomorrow morning. The race is Sunday. Looks like I will nice cool weather. Now, if I can only get the sun to stay in for an overcast day, it would be perfect!!!! LOL!

Hoping I am able to Beat the Bridge and make my Ducks proud!

Mine went great. 1st race. I got 4th out of my age group and 46th overall (out of over 360 runners). I finished slightly off my goal, but still respectable 24:49

Great job! :thumbsup2

Laura -- Good luck! We'll all be thinking about you and cheering you on! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hello Ducks!

Well i have officially registered for the Half. Since this is my first ever anything, I didn't want to commit until I was sure I could do it. Well I walked/jogged 6 miles last weekend in 77 minutes! So I guess that means I can do it. :cool1: I'm excited. :yay: Still continuing with the training of course.

Changed reservation to POR from Pop. Got a FL Rate much better and a tad closer to Start/Finish?

Congrats! :cool1: Pop is a great resort to stay at for the race. We had fantastic luck with transportation earlier this year.

Oh My Goodness!!
So much has been going on since I was last here.. Slacker I know..
I have been dealing with some health issues with my DD. She has a fainting issue and we are trying to find out if it is due to seizures or something else.

I am on track with my running.. I finally after two years consider myself a real runner.. even the other real runners in the park give me the runners nod when we cross paths. Hehe..

My DH got us the new iPhones and I downloaded the map my run app, I LOVE it. It gives me my pace and distance for whenever you set it for. I set it every 12 min. when I go over a mile in that time span, I know I am doing well. wish I could be there January but a new car is in the near future.

KEEP UP THE RUNNING!! Miss you guys!!

Happy weekend everyone!

I managed my first run this week since the Wine & Dine, it was a 4 mile run at the park and my foot didn't give me any problems:hippie:. I feel ready for my 10K tomorrow morning. It is Halloween themed and Debbie and I wearing our Mickey's Halloween 5k shirts from last year. I will post pictures on FB.

Speaking of pictures of pictures I bought this Duck picture from Brightroom.

Have a good week everyone.

Great picture, Joe! And congrats on a great 10k race! :thumbsup2 Did you see I posted food porn for you on FB yesterday? My infamous pumpkin whoopie pies - yum!

Laura -- Congrats on your BIG race! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I managed to get outside yesterday and "run" for the first time in forever. I went to a nearby park that has a 5 mile trail. I planned to walk most of it, but the competitive side of me wanted a faster time so I did some run intervals. I'm pretty happy with my overall speed for mostly walking it: 1:13. I'm feeling pretty sore today but I love it. Been a long time since I felt sore from working out. My groin feels good and that's what matters.

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and here's to a great week! :goodvibes

Hey ducks, I wanted to share a personal best for me this past weekend. I've been working myself up for my first 1/2 marathon in March. Up to this point, I'd never run more than 3.1 miles straight on the road and 11.1 miles straight on the treadmill (and that was a combo of run/walk). This weekend, I decided I was going to try to do more on the road.

There's a 3 mile loop DW and I run on the weekends. I packed some fuel in a backpack in anticipation I'd do 12 miles. I know it was ambitious since I had never run more than a 5k in a single run (although I did do a 5k race 2 weeks ago and then ran another 5k a few hours later with DW, but there was honestly about 3 hours rest between).

I'm proud to say I finished the 12 miles in 1:54:58! I ran 5 minutes and walked 1 for that pace. I was aiming for a 10mm and did better than that. 10mm is slower than my 5k race pace (8mm), but I'm also pushing for endurance in the longer distances. I'm leaning heavily towards doing long runs like that every Saturday (time permitting). Just wanted to share this with everyone since I know alot of people don't venture over to the journal board! Hope everyone has a great week!

Happy Halloween to all the Ducks! Congrats to all the recent race finishers, and good job on the 12 mile run, Brandon. Thanks for the picture, Joe. I hope those in the NE made out ok with the freak snowstorm. Luckily we did not get any near me, but it was on the verge with a lot of rain and wind and real cold temps. And I was insane enough to do a duathlon through it all. Really one of the most unpleasent experiences in some time, made the Half of two years ago seem like a spring day. Speaking of that, only a bit over two months away! I am ready for another Disney trip!

Have a great week!

Hey Ducks! Today I officially began my training for January. Just 9.5 weeks to go!

I'll post more soon hopefully...I'm on my iPhone as my desktop is having issues.

:cool1:Hello to the Ducks!

Brandon: nice time on the 5K:thumbsup2

Carissa: cool that you got to do a run outside.

Laura: WTG on finishing the Marine Corp Marathon. I watched Jimmy Fallon last night and Drew Carey was on the show wearing his MC medal. Pretty cool looking medal.

I had a good week running. the Wicked Halloween 10K last Sunday was fun, a little cold, though.
I didn't dress up, but some people did. A women was in a full horse costume with an extra set of legs, when she finished she was missing one of the legs.
I did 4 miles Tuesday afternoon and another 5 on Friday with no foot pain.
I have new shoe inserts from my foot doctor, I am going to give them a try tomorrow.
I might have done a bad thing tonight:scared1:.
I booked another weekend trip to WDW December 9th - 11th. Debbie and I are going to get some Disney Christmas Spirit:santa:.

Have a good week everyone!
Joe

Good news. I ran for the first time this morning since the W&D Half and my calf injury there. 4 miles slow today. It went well. No pain. No problems.

Bad news. Mom called this morning around 2 AM. My Dad died. Between family phone calls and crying, I couldn't sleep, thus the early morning run.

I'll be heading to St. Louis later today. Probably for the week. My sister will fly out, too. I have a feeling we'll be getting in some early Princess training runs together this week. More for personal therapy than anything else.

Snif.
