I'm in for a meet-up!
We arrive Thursday afternoon & leave Tuesday.
That's 4! Woo hoo.
I have to more research, the official WDW site says the Osborne lights are on til January 7th, but wdwinfo.com and the annual pass newsletter says January 3rd.
I will get better info next month when I am down there.

I ran the turkey trot 5k this morning, it was 35 degrees at the start. I went out at a 8mm pace and felt good for the first mile then my legs stopped cooperating. I was breathing heavy and my legs were hurting. I finished with a 29.37, not bad it was a pr, but I was hoping for a better time. I am exhausted this afternoon, I've had more energy after a half marathon.
Have a good week everyone.
Joe

Hey Ducks!!! Hope everyone is doing great and that your training is where you want it to be. I hit a milestone this past Sunday, I ran 14 miles. Up until then I had only done 13.1, I was so nervous when I woke up that morning. I kept thinking about not being able to do that distance. It was a relief when I finished and now I'm ready to tackle my 16 miler. I hope you all stay healthy and safe out there training.

Tim

Which ducks are doing the January race. I am seriously considering going solo, but it's almost full. Need to make a decision quickly! Tick tock!

Yes Laura jump in the pond!:)
It looks like the Ducks will be well represented during marathon weekend.
Can we get enough of us to fill up an elevator?:scared1:
Tim: nice job on the long run:thumbsup2.

I did an 8 mile run this morning at the park. It felt pretty good and a nice morning for a run (49 degrees out). I am getting a little better with the workouts. I am going to stick with 1 run after work during the week for 3-4 miles and a long run on the weekends and continue with a couple of stationary bike rides and and other cross training during the week and I should be ready for the January half. Hopefully I can stick to it.

Have a good week everyone!
Joe

I will be there for theHalf. Is it true there is a medal if you do the Half and the 5K? Or just the 5K medal?

I did a 5K Saturday, great weather and I finally made it into the 21 minute zone! I just stayed with a friend who has also been flirting with it and we both made it, my time ws 21:46.

Have a great Thanksgiving!! Anyone doing a Turkey Trot? There are three near me, so I will do one.

Did the Philly Half yesterday. Probably not a great idea. There is definitely something wrong with my achilles. I am signed up for Rehoboth Beach Marathon on 12/10. I don't think there is any way I can make it. January is even probably very debatable. Calling sport doc today - hopefully not too late if he says I can do it. Afraid of a RUPTURE! Google is scary, but every article about achilles tendonitis pretty much says the same thing.

Two people died in the Philly Marathon yesterday. A 21 year old and a 40 year old. The 21 year old after crossing the finish and the 40 year old a 1/4 mile from the finish. Terrible. Be careful, Ducks!

I'm doing Goofy and DW is doing the Half! I hope your achilles starts to feel better.

Joe: Thanks, also I'm up for meeting for an elevator ride or even 2.

Augie: Great job and time on your run. I'm trying to talk my wife into a Turkey Trot we have next to the house. As of now I believe she's in but we'll see.

Hope everyone has a great week and a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

Tim

Laura: Good luck with the doc. Let us know! Sending you positive thoughts.

Joe: I'll be the resident cheerleader ON THE GROUND & watch you guys ride ToT. :scared1:

GREAT JOB: Tim, Joe, & Augie on your runs & times!

Got 7 miles in on Saturday. Taking it easy (esp. after the news about Philly's marathon - that stuff always freaks me out). I'll get 8 in on Turkey Day - it's gonna rain til then. :sad2:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Hope no one has duck on the menu tomorrow :donald:
I went for a 3 mile run after work today. I think I have to stop running after work until the spring, it got pretty dark halfway through the run. One good thing though, I think it made me run faster, just in case someone was chasing me.:scared1:
Have a good week!

Joe

Hope we all have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Just got back from a Turkey Trot, beautiful day for a run. Marathon weekend is coming up fast!

Alright, Ducks! I did it. I'm in! A short trip - Fri-Monday for marathon weekend. I'm doing the full. Bringing my mom with me...she is now cancer-free, so we can celebrate Mickey style! Never went for such a short trip, but it's better than nothing. I need to get one on the books with my kids, or they will disown me. I can't even tell them about this one yet. This is the 3rd race I've done without bringing them. They haven't been in about two years. We used to go at least once a year when financial circumstances were different. Insert major guilt here...

Laura - So you've signed up for WDW in January. What did the doc say? I'm curious 'cause I'm still having fits with my calves.

And where did November go?!?

I got some good running in the week of November 7, but on November 15, I went out for a 5-miler and by mile 3, my RIGHT calf muscle seized! My left calf muscle seized up in August, then during the W&D Half Marathon, so I was pretty bummed when it happened again, and to the other leg. What’s up with that?!?

I’m not sure what’s causing this issue. Not stretching enough? Running when my leg muscles are “cold”, first thing in the morning? I’ve changed to wearing flats and Earth shoes at the office now, in an attempt to keep my calves as stretched as possible. I never wore huge heels, but I’m wondering if even a little bit of heel on the shoe is contracting my calves enough to cause problems. We’ll see. In the meantime, I’m putting in time on the elliptical as much as possible.

I ran a 10K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving with most of the family. We had a blast, but I probably should have stopped running at about mile 4.5 due to my right calf. Live and learn. So I’m gonna do what I can to get ready for the WDW Half in January this month. These nagging calf issues are really getting old.

I’ll be coming in on Friday, January 6. Friends from South Carolina are joining me on this trip. We’re staying until Saturday, January 14 (eight nights). I should be available for elevator drops and limousine rides…whenever. So put me on the list, Joe!

I do have achilles tendonitis. It's down near my ankle (near the point of insertion), though - not in my calf. He prescribed me an anti-inflammatory, has me doing stretching exercises, and wearing a boot to bed. He said I could keep running, as rupturing would be unlikely. A longitudinal tear is another story, but takes time. I did a very slow 16 miler on Sunday and it felt okay - as long as I do the stretching. I hate stretching, so it's not easy for me to remember to do. I am supposed to run the Rehoboth Marathon on December 10. I am not "trained" but am minimally prepared. If the weather is decent, I will probably give it a try as I will take it slow (as I always do) and consider it one of my training runs for Disney. I don't plan on "racing" Disney either. I am bringing the camera, taking pics with characters, and enjoying the day. Hope it isn't like the 2010 half - snow, sleet, rain, freezing temps! UGH!

Happy Wednesday everyone.
Laura: WooHoo!

If I did my cyphering right 16 ducks are going to be running marathon weekend. :thumbsup2 We're going to need a bigger pond.
I'm looking forward to seeing new and old friends and taking that plunge down the elevator.:scared1:

It's too dark after work to run outside, so I had to resort to running on the treadmill tonight. I managed 5.25 miles. Debbie and I doing a Holiday Hustle 5K Saturday afternoon. I'm thinking about wearing my Grinch pajamas to run in.:santa:
Have a good week everyone.
Joe
