This duck would consider being the Chip to your Dale, but not ready to commit yet. Debating if I would rather do the Princess...and now there is speculation of a new race in the spring?!!! Too many rundisney choices!!!!!

I'm with you on this one. I'm considering doing the Princess Half with my sister, but it would be a run/walk at her pace, so I'm not too worried about that one. I'd like to hear what the new Disney race is all about, too, first before committing to this relay.

But lastly, and most importantly, I'm not sure I could run a 10K right now. It's been a long, cold, rough winter up here. We still have ice and snow on the ground. We're still getting snow flurries. They've reported that this was the worst winter in Alberta since they started recording data. More snow, more and longer and colder cold snaps. I've lived through it, but my running has suffered greatly. I'm concerned about being in shape for the W&D Half, much less the January Half. So considering a half relay back-to-back will have to really wait until I'm more confident in my "comeback".

But let's keep it on the rader, eh, Chip?

Liz: do you code your binary manually or do you use this web site?
http://www.roubaixinteractive.com/PlayGround/Binary_Conversion/Binary_To_Text.asp
Back in my Air Force days I had to decode binary to troubleshoot electronic problems on the airplanes I worked on. Thanks for starting this on FB, it was fun. To answer your question, yes I am planning on going to WDW for marathon weekend in January. I'm not sure if Debbie is though, it might be just Steph and me again. Oh and it looks like Spring will have to wait, we are looking at freezing rain this week:sad2:.

Carissa: Nice job on the 8K:thumbsup2, did you get a chance to use your medal to open a couple of cold ones?

Well I have had a unproductive week so far. Something going on with my right foot, it hurts from my ankle to my arch, not sure what I did to it, though. It first hurt while running at Old Key West, but got better a couple days later. Last Sunday I was running at the park and 4 miles in my foot started hurting, it was so bad I had to stop, the bad part was I still had a 2 mile walk back to my car.
I am going to slow down a little this week and see how it is on Sunday and try to get a run in. I have the Twinkie 5k to get ready for:cool1:.

Hey Ducks!

So I am sick again....ARGH!!! Just a couple days after finishing my antibiotics I came down with another cold virus. I'm a mess right now, it's so annoying. And I hope this doesn't end up bacterial again.

I've given up on the month of March, exercise-wise. Oh well. Hopefully in April I can get back into my routine!

That half marathon in Charlotte on April 16th I was considering is out. Next possible race is a nearby 5K that I want to do with my boys, it's in late April.

Joe~I had to laugh at your question, "do you code your binary manually". The thought of me doing that is hilarious, I would have no clue how to do it. Yes, I used that website.
I'm glad you'll be at marathon weekend again! Did you find the Disney Visa code?

All~0101001101110100011000010111100100100000011101110110010101101100011011000010000001100101011101100110010101110010011110010110111101101110011001010010110000100000011001000110111101101110001001110111010000100000011001110110010101110100001000000111001101101001011000110110101100100000011011000110100101101011011001010010000001101101011001010010000100100001 :wizard:

Okay, it's official. I'm home now. Landed in Houston around noon. Of course, I had to stop and have a taste of GOOD mexican food for lunch. :dance3:

I'm gonna go hunt up some running trails tomorrow morning before heading out with a real estate agent to start the house hunting process. Then it's off to visit my BFF so we can put the finishing touches on the W&D/F&W Festival trip plans. Our ADR window opens later this week for us.

Liz- Sorry you're feelin' like crap. Maybe your body just needs a GOOD LONG rest? :confused3

Carissa - The house is looking good (via FB)! :woohoo:

Carissa: Nice job on the 8K:thumbsup2, did you get a chance to use your medal to open a couple of cold ones?

Thanks Joe! I did have one beer after the race. :thumbsup2 Hope your foot is feeling better.

Liz: Ugh on being sick again! Feel better soon.

Renee: Welcome back to the states! :cool1:

We're settling in nicely at the new house. Still have some more stuff to get from our old place. We have to be out by the 31st so that will be the last time I have to make the trip back and forth. :sad2: Can't wait to be done with it. So loving our house!

Hi Ducks! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I ran a (few weeks late) St Pats Day 4 miler today. Wish it was a bit warmer, managed a 30:59.

Welcome to Houston, Renee!

Hope you feel better, Liz! Thanks for the advice on the visa code, though I did not use it yet.

Good luck with the new house, Carissa! House-wise, I have been without a kitchen for two weeks now, in the midst of a re-model.

Joe, hope the foot is better by the Twinkie.

Joe, hope the foot is better by the Twinkie.

It's feeling better, I am going to test it out tomorrow with a run after work.
I need to get back on track with the running if I want to do the Dexter/Ann Arbor half in June. This race has a 13 minute per mile minimum, so no fooling around on this one.

Augie: did you sign up for the Expedition Everest Challenge?

I can't remember if I mentioned it before, Debbie and I's team name for the EE Challenge is "Huffin Puffin", we are trying to find matching shirts.

The Disneyland Half planing is coming along, I just need to get park tickets and book a shuttle from LAX.

I am still debating on doing the Wine and Dine this year, the cost of flying to CA, doesn't leave much room for 2 more plane tickets 3 weeks later. My sister and niece might be doing the Family 5K at AK in October. If they do it, we will probably sign up for that and the W and D. She just needs to let me know this week, so I can try to book OKW for all of us.

Renee: welcome back to the US! How are you liking the weather change?

Have a good week everyone!
Joe

Great report Laura! I want to do the National Half someday. Congrats again on the PR! I had to laugh at your "aggression run". One of my neighbors who runs always has faster times when she's mad about something. lol I hope you break 2:20 at your next half! :)

Cool report, Laura, looked like a nice course. Funny that people were running to the start. Congrats on your pr! I know what you mean about lack of training, I have not run as much as I would like to. Good luck on the Island to Island!

And yes, Joe, I will be at EE.

Hi Everyone - Just wanted to say a quick "hi"! I have been sick all week with a yucky head cold that is really dragging me down. Consequently I haven't been running since the weekend which really stinks b/c my first 5K is just around the corner and I am starting to get nervous. I hope I can bounce back quickly.

I was hoping to make it to the W&D to meet some of you, but DH and I had a "vacation budget" review last weekend and sadly I had to scratch it off the list. Hopefully I will be there for either Marathon Weekend or the Princess Half! In the meantime I have our Spring Break trip to look forward to in a few weeks. I am planning to do some running around Jambo and Kidani! I sooooo need to see the sun. The weather in NJ stinks! :sad2:

Take Care!

PS: Wanted to add that as long as everyone is feeling better in our family (including me) we plan to go to the Times Square Disney Store on Saturday as well as this: http://www.discoverytsx.com/exhibitions/harry-potter! I'll try to post some pix on FaceBook!

Happy April Ducks! :)

I'm hoping this will be a much better month for me, health/exercise-wise! I'll be getting on the treadmill this morning to start ease back into running.

Joe~like my new avatar?

Robyn~I'm sorry you've been sick this week! Hopefully you'll be over it and can get right back to training for your 5K. Tell me the name/date/city of your 5K so I can add it to the race list. :)

I'm so envious of you heading to WDW and the Animal Kingdom Lodge soon! Boma is our favorite WDW restaurant and I crave it pretty regularly. lol Will you be dining there?

That Harry Potter Exhibition looks fun! We would love that. I'll watch for pix on fb!

I was thinking of going into the city on Saturday also. Supposed to be a nice day for a change. I have a 5K on Sunday and have not run since last Sunday, the weather has not been very nice. Whatever happened to Spring?

Hey Ducks!!! Sorry I haven't been around lately. Life is finally slowing down for us. Once again thank you all!
I haven't been running a whole lot lately but I did manage to run a half marathon yesterday, the Talladega 21000. It was at the Talladega Superspeedway and I was only a mere 193 mph off the average speed for the track (a little NASCAR joke). I finished in 2 hr 41 min, not my fastest but I finished.
I have also signed up for the 2012 Goofy, so let the training begin.

Hi Ducks,

Soooo after not running at all last week and with my 5K looming ahead I have been hitting the treadmill this week. Today was crazy-windy-rainy but hopefully tomorrow I can get outside to run. I am starting to get nervous b/c I felt like I lost a lot of training time last week. But then I read Tim's post and had to laugh ("haven't been running a whole lot lately but I did manage to run a half marathon yesterday"). Ummmm yeah I can suck it up and do the 5K (even if I have to walk part of it). :thumbsup2

Liz - Yes, we will be dining at Boma twice. It is our favorite restaurant and we have reservations there for dinner a few hours after we arrive. We also have reservations for Sanaa and Jiko. I keep telling my husband that one day we are flying down to Boma just for the night - it would be worth the airfare!

Augie - Did you make it to the city on Saturday? The weather was pretty nice. We hit the Disney Store and HP Exhibition in Times Square. The Disney Store was fun but we didn't buy anything. Spent a lot of money at HP!

Joe - I wish every run ended with a Twinkie! ;)

Laura - I had a few friends who also ran in DC. They want me to run with them next year. Maybe...

OK gotta "run" bye

Looks like Spring is finally showing up. Nice and sunny here right now after a rainy yesterday

Tim, that must be kind of neat to run on the track like that. How does the banking feel?

Robyn, I did make it in, my friend and I brought bikes in and we rode around quite a bit. She wanted to go to Central Park Zoo, and I wanted to go down to a new place on Bowery. We thought of going to HP also, but there wasn't enough time. I might go in on Friday to an art show.

I ran in a local 5K this past Sunday, my time was 22:42. Flat course but one half was really windy.

Tim~Good to hear from you. Congrats on your half! That's great you're doing the Goofy!! :)

Robyn~Boma twice, you are just like us! We ate there twice during Christmas week! :) Sanaa and Jiko, too, awesome. We haven't been to either of those, someday for sure we will. I think Boma would be worth the airfare too!

Augie~Congrats on your 5k!

Hi everyone!
Not much going on on my end with running. My foot problems finally picked a spot and the pain is at the top of my foot at the ankle, so I have been using the stationary bike. We are supposed to have a nice today, so Debbie and I are going for a walk along the river. My foot has been feeling better, so I am going to give it another week then test it out with a short run.
The Twinkie 5k was fun last week. I didn't eat another Twinkie at the middle of the race, I didn't want to stop, because I new my ankle would tighten up. I saved the Twinkie snack for after the race.:thumbsup2

Liz: Gotta love the Orange Bird!
Robyn: Thanks for posting the picture of the Harry Potter exhibit in NY on FB, Debbie and Steph are going in May and are going to the exhibit while there.
Tim: Nice job on the half marathon. I want to do the Dexter/Ann Arbor half in June, but I'm concerned I won't be ready by then, but after hearing what you did without much training, I have to rethink that.

I started a new project this week, I am transferring all my old VHS home movies to my computer, so I can video edit them and make DVDs. I watched a tape last night from a weekend trip to WDW on December 30 1993. I was surprised to see how over grown the trees in front of the castle were. From Main Street you could only see the center part of the castle, I'm glad they cut the trees back. It's been fun watching those old movies again, but I have a big job ahead of me.

Have a good week everyone.

Joe

Hello all,
I had a good 5 mile run last night without any ankle pain, which I was very happy about! My 5th mile split was faster that the other 4. I think I can get back on track with my training, I really want to run the Dexter/Ann Arbor half marathon. Did I mention that Frank Shorter is running the Dexter/Ann Arbor 10k that day. All the ducklings in the group, google him.

To all the iPhone users I found a interval training app called Interval Timer, they have a free version that shows ads and a pro version for $.99. You can setup any run/walk time interval. I will give it a try this weekend and let you know how it works.

Three weeks till the Expedition Everest Challenge, getting a little excited about heading back to WDW. I'll look for you that weekend Augie. Epcot is open late that Friday and I am going to try stay till the park closes, not sure if I can make it.

Have a good weekend everyone.
Joe
