Hey Ducks,
Here is a link to my Facebook album for the Princess weekend! What a blast! Carissa, it's a must do!

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=112669&id=1344172057&l=e31eeee85e

Hi Ducks,

I finally attempted my first outdoor run this week! I have been an indoor treadmill runner (ummm, for the past 10 years!) and found it somewhat of a challenge to make the move outside. It is going to take some getting used to. Believe it or not, I actually found my run outside to be a little bit boring. Usually when I am on the treadmill I watch TV and the time flies by. Maybe this week I will bring my ipod (didn't carry it with me this week).

Laura - Thanks for sharing. Congrats for finishing b/c I know you were not feeling so well. I really really really hope to do the princess next year (but boy do I have a long ways to go!). I have connected with Liz and Carissa on FaceBook. If anyone else is on Facebook, would you mind sending me a PM and I will send you my link? Sometimes when FB links are posted I am unable to view the pictures. THANKS!

Happy Wednesday, Duckies! Hope everyone is doing ok, and staying active. Vic, have a great time this weekend at Gainesville! I have been reading about a lot of neat things that are going to be going on, some new cars making their debuts, and several special guests. Looking forward to June when the tour comes uo my way.

Have a good week, everyone.

Helloooooo Ducks!

I've been away for a few weeks, just can't seem to get on the dang computer. Anyway, wanted to drop in and say a big "HI" & congrats to everyone & in particular to those who did the Princess! I'm thrilled to report that it was the 1st 1/2 I finished with absolutely ZERO knee issues!!!:cool1: It wasn't my best time, but I decided I was going to take it easy, stop for some photos & have FUN!--Mission accomplished! And I did the whole thing in Vibrams, which was also a first for me. WHEW---my calves felt like rubber, but it was wonderful.

Saw quite a few WISHers out there and just had to give 'em a shout out every time, even though I wasn't wearing green ;)

So here's the crazy part--I'm actually have some delusions about doing the full in January!!

More to come....

Hope all's well with everyone!

Hello All! Just got back home last night from the Princess. Had a WONDERFUL time with friends! 3 out of 4 of us finished and the one who did not made if further than she ever had gone before, so she was very okay with it and proud of what she did. Plus, she made it to 9 and she got a medal anyway! She was happy.

I did it in 2:38 but wasn't shooting for a fast time . . . just having a good time! Stopped and got pics at at least 9 character spots and just came off of strep and the flu. So, I should be happy I was able to finish at all!

The heat got the best of me during the last two miles. I was just exhausted - nothing hurt, though. I just wanted to be DONE in the worst way. The two overpasses really played a mental game with me!

I'm doing the National Half next month in DC and think I must now get a royal blue sparkle skirt. It was so much fun to see everyone dressed up! What a good time!

Can't wait to hear more Princess stories!

Congrats on the great time!

So, question--do you automatically get a medal for going 9? My friend made it to 10 during the Disney 1/2 "on ice" last year & had to get pulled for hypothermia. Her husband ended up getting her one on Ebay because he thought she really deserved it--I agree!

Good luck at National!

Don't know if it's automatic, but they gave her one without asking.

I haven't checked in for quite a while so thought I would do so this morning.

Tim - I'm so sorry about the loss of your son. You and your wife are in my thoughts during this difficult time.

I haven't been around much for two reasons. One is because we're getting ready for the big move into our first house. We close a week from today and can't wait to get in there. The other reason is because I just haven't been running. Heck, I haven't been working out AT ALL. :sad2: I've been making lots of excuses though! My plan is to get back to it slowly once we're settled in the new house. Trying to figure out where the treadmill will go. For the moment we're thinking the garage, but not sure how well that will work out. The one positive that I'm hoping comes from all of this time off is that my groin strain will be completely healed by the time I get back to it. :thumbsup2

Hope you all are enjoying the spring weather (for those who are getting it). :goodvibes

Hi Ducks! I feel like it's been forever since I've posted, and I feel like it's been forever since I've run! Ugh. I had my planned week off after the Princess and then I had an unplanned week off due to being sick. I'm on antibiotics now and am finally starting to feel better. I'll get back to running this week.

There's a half here in Charlotte on April 16th that I'm considering doing with a friend. I need to get back into running before I commit though.

So who's doing some Disney race registration tomorrow or soon? I'll be signing up for the half tomorrow. I'm also considering the 5K but will wait to sign up for it. AND I have to say that the marathon relay has caught my attention....hmmm... A chip and dale medal sounds nice...

Robyn~Way to go on getting outside! That is a milestone I think. :) Have you been back out again yet? What week of C25K are you in now?

Shannon~That's great you had no knee issues! Good luck deciding on the full.

Carissa~I'd put the treadmill in a comfy environment where you're most likely to use it. Maybe your garage will be that way though.

Tim~I hope you and your wife are doing ok.

Well I guess their system is allowing registrations a bit earlier...I just registered for the half yay! I used the Chase Disney Visa deal so that was nice to pay a bit less. I ordered the pin too, as I have for every race. :)

Hello everyone,

Tim: I'm sorry for your loss and I hope the healing has started. You were in my thoughts last weekend for the ESPN 5k.

Shanonn: yaa on the no knee pain!:thumbsup2

Liz: Sorry you haven't been feeling good. Did you get the Orangebird vinylmation during Princess weekend? I was able to trade for all 5 Orangebird pins with cast members while we were there. Debbie loves the Orangebird.

I am slowly getting back into running. The weather is getting better and I can start running after work again. I managed a 5.75 mile run on Saturday, it felt pretty good.
I am signing up for a 5k on April 1st at the park I run at. It is called Twinkie Run and benefits ALS. The deal with the race is you get to shave 60 seconds off your time when you eat a twinkie. I am shooting for the first sub 1 minute 5K :rotfl2:.
I got the email today from rundisney about saving $20 for signing up early, but only for the full and Goofy, where's the love for us half marathon runners. Then I got the Chase Visa email about saving $35 for the half, that's more like it.

I have the room and flight booked for the Expedition Everest Challenge, we are staying at Caribbean Beach this time. First time for me at this resort, that means another resort pin for my collection:thumbsup2.
I still have to get our plane tickets for the Disneyland half, is John Wayne the closest airport to DL or LAX? I really want to do the Wine and Dine, but I might have pass on it this year.

Have a good week.
Joe

Liz - I registered for the January Half tonight, too. Woo hoo! :cool1: My inaugural January Donald race! Got it with the Disney Visa Reward discount. Getting ready to register for the October 1 5K race with my BFF soon (the morning of the W&D Half). I'm with you, Liz. I don't collect "regular" pins, but I do have "event" pins, from races and park tours I've done at WDW. ;)

Joe - Don't be too fooled. You really only get $15 off with the Visa card discount. The $35 that they advertise includes the reduction that everyone gets until late April, when registration costs will go up. Good luck with that sub-one minute 5K! :rolleyes1

Carissa - I'm really excited about your new home! It sounds awsome. And it's also getting me excited, because I'll start my house hunt in less than two weeks in Houston. I'm really hoping to live close enough to Memorial Park, so I can walk/run to the park and do long runs whenever I want, without having to deal with big city traffic, sidewalks, or driving to a location where I can run.

Vic - Those pics have waaay too much testosterone in them. Just sayin'...

We still have waaay too much snow and ice on the ground here to run. I'm growing very tired of the treadmill...:sad2:

Not so sure the Princess would be for me. I was too hot in January! :rolleyes1

Carissa~I'd put the treadmill in a comfy environment where you're most likely to use it. Maybe your garage will be that way though.

Originally, I was going to put it in the family room, but I'm thinking we won't have space for it. The other spot I could put it is upstairs in our bedroom. But, since we won't have a TV in there, not sure it would really make much of a difference to me. So, it'll be the garage for now and then we'll see what happens when I try to use it. I'm not sure how the temperature will be in the garage.

I have to say that I've had an itch to get back to running. But, I'm somewhat nervous that the groin issue will still be there.

House hunting is fun, exciting, and stressful! 6 days and counting for us to get our keys. :goodvibes So, Renee Alice, will we be seeing pictures of your furniture on Facebook?

Haven't been on here in a while but wanted to post and let everyone know I am probably going Goofy again in 2012. Just waiting to hear back from my charity to see if they will have a Disney team again this year (I am almost positive they will) because that is the only way I can afford to do any of the races and it also has become something dear to my heart that I enjoy helping out (childhood cancer research)

Tim - I wanted to send my heartfelt condolences to your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife in this difficult time.

Laura - I LOVE your blog, especially all the pics. It looks like you guys had such a fun time together.

I've been trying to coax my sister into doing the 2012 Princess Half with me next year (and maybe her daughter - my niece - we'll see). Funny thing is, my sister is still skeptical that she can do it. Her husband, however, is behind this 100%. He can't wait for her to step off and take on the challenge. I sent her the link of all the costumes and many other on-the-run video pieces from this year's race to get her excited. I think she's just about there. She's never done more than a 5K, so I think the thought of 13.1 miles is overwhelming to her. But I've promised her that I'd do every step of the race with her, right by her side, at her pace. We'd do it together, or not at all. I suspect it'll be a slow finish for me, but I'm so excited just to get the chance to do this with my older sister.

Anyhoo, your blog is inspiring and truly shows the energy and spirit of the weekend! I hope that my sister and I can bond over next year's race.

Thanks for sharing. :)

Thanks! Reading other people's trip reports helps to keep the excitement alive! I think some of those videos will help too. It really was a fun time! I hope you are able to get her to go to "the other side" :darth: (Use her hubby! If he's on board, it could be a done deal. ;))
Keep us posted!

Oh, and if she can't come . . . if you look back to my "older posts" which I did last week - there is one for Wine and Dine. I brought my sister on that trip, but she came to cheer me on due to a medical condition. Not quite the same, but it was great to have here there for me and we had a fun time together!

Hello, all you ducks! Today certainly is duck weather here, a bit rainy. But no more snow laying around, that has been gone for a few weeks now. A lot of mud in places now. I even put my snowblower away, hope that was not too premature.

Vic, great pictures! I read up on the race on nhra.com, and followed the qualifying. Can't wait for June and Englishtown. For your first time back in a while, I guess ou are looking forward to next year already! Have you ever been to Garlits' museum? I have been a few times, and it is pretty cool. Funny comment, Rene, but it is more than testosterone, there is a lot of nitro and rubber thrown in......

Carissa, good luck with the new house! Welcome to the world of home-ownership.

Liz and Joe, I read about the Chase visa registration offer but never got an email about it. Is there a code I need? I will be signing up for both the W&D and the Half again. I have a race next weekend, a four-miler as part of St Patricks Day in one of the towns here.

Well, time for work, have a good week!

Augie

Augie

Thanks Augie! :goodvibes Next week is going to be a crazy one for us!

Thanks to the motivation from Liz and Dan, I decided to go ahead with running the Shamrock 8k on Saturday. I signed up back in January, but had decided I wasn't going to do it due to a lack of training and all of the house stuff going on. But, those were really just excuses. :rolleyes1 I got on the treadmill today for the first time since before the half!

After the 8k I will probably be taking another couple of weeks off to move into the new house and my parents are coming to visit. But, after that I plan to get serious with this running business again. My goal for this year was/is to increase my speed and I'm all about meeting my goals. :thumbsup2

Carissa and I are doing the marathon relay!!! :woohoo::yay: Now we have to learn the ins and outs of a relay!

Joe~Yes! I did get the Orange Bird Vinyl, I meant to tell you! I love it, so cute! I'm hoping I can still get one of the shirts someday.
LOVE the Twinkie Run! LOL!!

Tricia~Yay for Goofy! Will you still do the half with your niece?

Laura~Your blog and pictures are great! Looks like you had a blast with your friends.

Augie~Sign into your Disney Visa account and then go the the link to offers. I think it was one of the Mickey Ears icons above your account info.

:cool1: :cool1:

Will it involve holding some sort of scroll thingy and passing it off to the other? :confused3 That is sort of a joke and a serious question all at once. :rotfl:
