Donald Duck at Topolino’s?

I feel badly because I posted another thread trying to find which character meals have Donald Duck (he’s my 5 year olds twin boys’ favorite character, and it’ll be their first time at Disney). We had settled on Chef Mickey’s for brunch on our last morning before flying out, but I was just talking to my cousin, who was insistent that Topolino’s has the best character brunch. Does anyone who has been to brunch there recently remember whether Donald Duck was there?? Thanks so much in advance!

Donald is part of the regular line up. Her was there on our visit in January. But any character can be missing on any given occasion. He wasn't there a year ago January on our visit. And he wasn't there when my friend visited in May. An d I believe at Topolino he is one of 4 characters, whereas at Chef Mickey he is one of 5.

Oh so good to know he’s there (or at least scheduled to be), thanks! Would you all agree Topolino’s is a better character brunch overall than Chef Mickey’s? We also have a 7 year old daughter, and we kept hearing Chef Mickey’s is one of those must-do spots if you’re only doing Disney once…we’re told it’s a bit of an establishment there, even with the mediocre food and louder/chaotic environment (sounds lovely, LOL). I thought I’d also read Topolino’s might be dressier, which may be why I’d crossed it off the list initially? Since we’re checking out of our hotel and flying that day, we’ll definitely be keeping it casual!

We’re staying at Boardwalk, so I’m also thinking I read we can take the skyline to Topolinos? Maybe it would be an easier trek there than to Contemporary, especially since we’d need to get back to Boardwalk afterwards to grab our luggage from concierge before we leave for the airport. Sorry for all the questions…feeling so much pressure to make this the best trip possible for the kids!

I've never been to Chef Mickeys (I don't do buffets because I hate getting up and down to get my kids food) but I have done a number of fur character meals and Topolino's is by far some of the best fur character interactions I've ever had and the food is pretty good too.

Topolino is probably the better experience, but Chef Mickeky is more iconic. It's very cool watching the monorail coming through. It's open and busy, with lots of action and noise. Topolino is quieter, with a more subdued atmosphere. But travel by Skyliner is very appealing, so that would probably tip me in that direction.

I will add that Topolino has the characters in artist costumes. If you want something classic, Chef Mickey would be the call.

If you're staying at BW, I'll offer another option for the Donald Duck fans. The Cape May Cafe breakfast buffet also offers Donald for the kids (big and little). It will always amaze me how these characters get back and forth to all these meals across the property for the kids!! But we did experience both Chef Mickey's and Cape May earlier this month - Chef M's is definitely iconic - but Cape May offered a few additional food options and an omelette bar. We liked it a bit better. And it's a place you can walk to from the BW - very convenient in the morning. It's probably closer than the Skyliner station! It might also be a slightly easier reservation to get. Have a great trip!

FYI - Topolino's - also a really nice place, available to you via the Skyliner.....

Just one person's opinion but I just really think Chef Mickey's is overrated at this point. Yes iconic the monorail and all that but I think it has just become kind of tired and sad in the last few years.

Staying at BW I would personally choose Cape May over Chef Mickey's for check-out day (if I couldn't get Topolino's). It is just easier to get to on a day when the family may be tired at the end of the trip. The additional transportation hassle of getting there just isn't worth it to me. Unless you were planning on doing some other monorail things for the day and visiting some of the other resorts.
