Don’t you turn that commercial- it’s my 30 second Disney fix! TR Link Posted

Maya got a few pins on our first trip, and by the end of the week was brave enough to trade a couple times. So i decided she needs some to trade and James needs some period. i figured i would aim for about 15 pins. That way both kids could choose a couple to keep home and still have plenty to trade. (and yes, my 2 year old will probably trade. he does everythign his sister does. he thinks he is five also:rotfl2:)

i used the pin thread here to find some recomendations for ebay pin sellers. i picked a couple of sellers and bid on a few pins each seller.

i won one pin each seller. Not such a great deal if you pay shipping on each seller. and of course, each of those sellers has specific timelines for combined shipping and the pins they had listed were after my combined shipping deadlines.

so i went back in for round 2. one of the sellers had a much larger quantity of pins listed so i decided just to bid there. i figured i had won about 10% of the first ones i bid on- so i bumped up my bid max by .10 and bid on 30 pins, hoping to win about 10-12 more

whoops, i now have 28 pins coming my way:rotfl:

and on another note.... dd had an eventful day yesterday. she has been asking me for months... i told her all that is involved and let her watch videos to make sure it is what she wanted... it was her choice... we even went a month or two ago to do it and she backed down last minute... well, she randomly asked me yesterday if she coudl try again and i said sure without hesitation!

after

she almost backed out again but the techs had her sit on her hands and they did both ears at once. she cried for a second and then had to call and tell everyone she knew about her beautiful ears! i think she had the best timing because we leave in 7 weeks. so she can pick out her first earrings at Disney!:goodvibes

i have not trimmed James hair yet but i just dont know if it can make it another 7 weeks.

What a cute ear piercing story! I'm sure your DD is proud of herself now...and she'll love getting to pick out her own earrings at Disney. We decided to try pin trading this year, too...at least you know you'll have more than enough with all your e-Bay wins ;)

As far as what I'm anticipating...
1. Walking into MK on our first day
2. The "reveal" at BBB
3. Spending time with the whole family...no work, no school
4. Wishes at Poly Beach
And probably too many more to mention :goodvibes

Grats on the pins! Would you care to PM me the eBay seller you used? I haven't seen a pin trading thread, I may have to go search for it. I was looking at one auction for lanyards + pins (for each lanyard, you got 10 grab-bag pins).

Grats on DD's beautiful ears! The earrings are adorable! And what an amazing memory to pick out your first set of earrings at WDW!!

As far as your DS is concerned, we won't call MK and tell on you if you have to give in. :thumbsup2 Plus, its a trim, not a cut! :goodvibes We'll vouch for you if needed. :lmao:

everything you mentioned sounds great!
ydd was so cute with her ears- she told the tech she had to have them because she wants to move to disney world!

here is the thread- pm me about the seller:)

Oh no! I've purchased pins from red-list people! :sad1: Now I feel horrible with putting fake pins out there. I read all the available information last year when I purchased and they all seemed genuine. The description even stated that they were authentic and tradeable and all the other code words I was looking for. Sheesh, its sad that people take the time to make bogus stuff.

I was watching an auction, but it was a red-listed person, so I'll unwatch. :headache:

when i was searching around on some of the links on that thread, i saw a few mentions of how even those who are big into trading and collecting are having trouble telling the fakes sometimes. and that cast members aren't any better. i dont think you should feel bad about it if it may have inadvertantly happened. :goodvibes

I went through all my pins and found a handful that I can confirm are legit, a baggie full of "dunno", and a baggie full of scrappers. I'll probably use the scrappers for scrapbooking or trash them. I don't want them circulated back.

I was a bit disappointed that two of the scrappers were ones DD got from a CM trade. Both were pins that had the wrong colors (ie Mulan real version had navy blue sash and pink umbrella - bad one had light blue sash and umbrella same color as her face).

Now that I know those are scrappers, the won't be circulated back into the parks ... however, I'm unsure of the "dunno" bag. I'll research them a bit more, but if I can't find proof that they are or are not legit, then I'm not sure what to do. :confused3

There may be a small change in plans here for Saturday.

Our current plan is:

Rope drop a water park
quick service lunch at the water park or at CBR
nap
1900 Park Fair dinner
MSEP

Here is my first issue with this plan
i can't make up my mind which water park to go to.

Blizzard Beach:
Pro- the wave pool seems a little more appropriate for my kids age
Con- they have two seperate kids areas and i think i each kid would be interested in one but not the other.

Typhoon Lagoon:
Pro- Shark Reef- this sounds so fun!
Con- kids getting pummeled by wave riders in the wave pool

I asked dh which and he said the one without the crowds. Um, Yeah, Thanks for the help dude:confused3

As we talked further about it, he said he only wants to go for the float river. The water park was the only thing he asked for on the trip. i thought he was interested in slides and things too. apparently not so much. I could care less about a water slide myself. So i could picture a lot of paper rock scissors there- you know, who has to ride with maya. So i think at this point we are going to leave it to chance. We will see how the kids do at the feature pool at CBR and see if we feel like an early morning that day. i won't cancel it though, because it was Chris's request. He gets to do that!

So if we don't go, what should we do instead? i know part of the day may involve sleeping late or taking a nap, which will probably be much needed by then.

The afternoon and evening will stay the same.

Our ADR with Cindy and family is at 6 pm.

It is a MSEP night at MK- one of two while we are there. The crowd level is predicted to be a 5.5.

wdw_ep_4.jpg

I'm super excited to see this guy- its the one float i remember from the 80's!

I doubt that we will try to go to MK earlier in the day. So hopefully once we complete dinner, we will go on over to MK and find our parade spot. It would be nice to be on Main street. We watched all parades from Frontierland last trip so we didn't have to wait as long. Hopefully we will be done with dinner and at bag check in the 730-800 range and the parade starts at 900. Any favorite spots that would be easy to get to at that time frame?

We will have already seen wishes at this point and the park is open until 11pm, so if we are well rested then we will take advantage of many who are waiting for wishes and hit a ride or two. I'd love to ride thunder mountain in the dark, or dumbo as wishes starts. Anything we ride that night will be dictated by crowds and rest level and there won't really be a plan for it.

Up Next - arguably the most important day of the trip....
World of Disney day :banana::banana::banana:

I'm also thinking of it the other way, too. We have a few that i know were purchased at Disney. I'm not letting Maya take those. I don't want her to trade those for possible scrappers. I wouldn't hold it against a CM- they probably see so many its hard for them to know. I do think that the possible scrappers would be good for a scrapbook though!

I need to go through ours from the last trip...

Hey just subscribed to your PTR & read all of it so far! Your plans look great so far!

I'm sure you probably already know this about CBR but just wanted to tell you in case you didn't! There is the main pool (the pirate area) and then a quiet pool for each village. At the main pool, there is also a smaller little area for children. I can't remember exactly but I think it says children under 36" or something like that. I really think that James would enjoy that area! On our June trip, Luke was a little over 2 years old & he loved it! Of course we also spent a few afternoons/evenings at the main pool & a couple mornings at the quiet pool in our village. For some odd reason, I didn't take any pictures at the pirate area & I'm so upset because I have alot of good memories there! Luke really loved running under all the water falls & going down the kiddie slide! I also just sat in the water, as alot of moms did, because there is about 6" or so of water the entire way around the pirate ship! Its a fun way to watch your child & get a tan at the same time! Plus it was soooo hot & humid, it was nice to be in the water!

I'm also really anxious to hear what village you requested! We requested Aruba or Jamaica (we were in #51) & we loved the walk across the bridge to CBR! I believe that Trinidad North is the closest building to Old Port Royale though so I know alot of people request it as well. There's a little beach area in front of every village along with a playground. Your kids will love it! They have alot of lounge chairs at each beach area too if you want to sit out & relax or read a magazine! I saw alot of people sitting on them but didn't have the opportunity to enjoy them myself (except for a few minutes the day I did laundry! lol)

I think I had a bunch of other comments but I have to put my son to bed right now. I'll go through your report again in the morning & write another post! Can't wait to hear more about your plans!!! :goodvibes

:welcome:
Yes, i am so excited about the pools there! They look like so much fun! James has not spent much time in the water, so the kiddie area should be perfect. Last trip we didn't spend much time at the resort, so i'm excited to have a couple of swims scheduled in for this one! The beach also sounds great! Maya really wanted to go to the beach this year but its just not the right time. When i go to the beach i want to spend time in the water, in the sun, and at the outlet malls. Or on a sail boat for hours. These are probably my husband's least favorite vacation activities. Add in the idea of picking sand out of a diaper and i can wait. At least this way Maya gets her "beach" trip too!

i need to add my request to the reservation today or tomorrow, so i'll post on that very soon!

So yesterday, Maya's school called me.

"Maya looks like she has pink eye, we've got her isolated, can you come pick her up please"

She had no symptoms that morning, but when i got there she sure had them. Unfortunately, it was not a good day for me to leave work, so i had to bring the kids back with me (I just went ahead and grabbed James too)

Last year, i got pink eye. On a holiday weekend, of course. So i get up the next morning, the actual holiday and go to local walgreens clinic. i got there early but there were three patients ahead of me. they had already shut it down for the day, saying that there were already more patients that open hours in that day:confused3

So i called our pediatrician/ my ob/ family care. If you don't know much about pink eye, it comes in two forms- bacterial, and viral. So my doctor's stance on adult pink eye is wait it out a week and see if it improves- if it doesn't, then you get the drops. well, let me tell you, that is miserable!! i ended up getting it in both eyes. I couldn't wear my contacts. For me, that means i can't drive as i am one prescription change away from leagally blind. So finally, after a week of being driven around, my dr gives the the drops and i clear up in hours.

So there was no way i was waiting to take Maya today to her doctor, for a wait it out diagnosis. Our eye doctor is great, but has a very limited schedule and is across town.

I decided i had to try the Take Care Clinic at Walgreens again. Is really one of my only options for after hours care because my insurance rates most local urgent clinics/ minor meds as an emergency room visit.

i checked out the webpage before we left work. It gives you an estimated wait time. It was short, good. We arrived and i decided not to bring in James' stroller. I always take his stroller everywhere. He's built like a football player at 35 lbs and 35". Way too heavy to carry for long periods of time.

In the thirty minute drive from work, i guess more people had the same idea. There 3 people were ahead of us and there was one in the office. They estimate 20 minutes per person.

The take care clinic is just in the back of the store- basically a room next to the bathrooms. There are some chairs available next to the pharmacy. So the first 20 minutes or so was okay. we grabbed some magazines and looked at them.

Then he was done sitting still. I took him to play on the toy aisle. i took him to the bathroom. i took him to try on sunglasses. i took him back to the bathroom. i played games on my phone with him. back to the bathroom. he just could not sit still.

the whole waiting/ appointment ended up taking right at 3 hours. it really is crazy that it took each person about 45 minutes for their "appointment" Thankfully, once we got back there, it only took about 20 minutes for us in the room. She was really quick with us in there- probably because they technically closed at 730 and here it was more than an hour later. Or it could have had something to do with the fact that the second we closed the door in the tiny cubicle office James decided it was time to stink up his diaper:thumbsup2

Anyway, so my points in this long drawn out ramble....

1) the take care clinic is a great idea, but i think it could function better.
they already have a computer for you to check yourself in with. If they
added a computer for you to enter family history, symptoms, etc, i think
they could cut down waiting time by a good percentage.

2) this was the first time that i've really seen Maya sit and respond to the
doctor's questions. you know, instead of the dr just asking mom all the
questions. it really just made me realize how much she is not a baby girl
anymore.

2) James- i am nervous about Disney now. i think he is going to be like a
kid in a candy store everytime we let him out of the stroller. I'm
seriously contemplating buying a leash backpack.

3) i was supposed to go to the bank after work and make a deposit so i
could make our final payment:thumbsup2. didn't get there though.
If the payment is due by tomorrow, then do i need to have it paid
today or can i pay it tomorrow?
i could always do a temporary
transfer from savings if it needs to be today
.

So sorry to hear about Maya's eye. I hope that it clears up quickly! I know it can be absolutely miserable. :(

Way to go James! :lmao: Teach the nurses a lesson for making you have to wait.

We used the Walgreen's clinic once, and we'll go to ER before we go back. Thankfully we have a few other walk-in options in town. But yes, the PC sign in is a great idea, but they should totally expand it. :thumbsup2

I'm glad to hear Maya had a good visit at the clinic. :thumbsup2

I swear by the backpack leashes. We used one in 2009 for our DS and it was awesome! We didn't always use the leash part, but he kept the backpack on real well. Once he figured out how things worked, we didn't need it at all, and he did well with staying with us. Here's a pic of him with the backpack - we took the "monkey tail" off for the afternoon.

Karenscamera076.jpg

I don't really know how the payment stuff works, I've always paid in full when I booked so I didn't have another bill looming over my head. :headache: Hopefully someone else can answer your question, or you could call WDW and ask.

i wasn't impressed that time i went last year and it was full for the day so early in the morning. but my sister had gone to one recently and been pretty much in an out, so i had to give it another try. i think it may really have to do with location? there are a few of them within a few miles of her house. and there are 2 others within 15 minutes of my house, but they are more or less in the areas of town i try to avoid when i can.

glad to hear that the backpack leash works well! he just doesn't sit still for long, even at home, but i have high hopes that he will "figure it out" as yours did.

Okay, so not really, but it ranks right up there- i think its tied for #1 (with all other trip days except departure)

Sunday

Today we will start with Maya's special event. (if you remember, James is having his haircut at harmony)

Her BBB appointment is at 1030.
I opted for the middle package-
The Crown $54.95: Includes Hairstyle ~ Shimmering Make Up Kit ~ Nail Polish ~ BBB Sash

then she will get her choice of three hairstyles-

Pop Princess ~ includes some bright colored punk like hair with Mickey claw clips.

Disney Diva ~ includes a hair piece that features colored Mickey confetti and a rhinestone hairbow with Mickey head at the end. They offer a variety of colors to choose from.

Fairy-tale Princess ~ includes the hair up in a bun, choice of crown (like the ones you saw in the first picture), & a Mickey shaped pastel rhinestone clip. Seen below.

i really really hope she chooses the fairy tale. i'm just not crazy for the others. maybe i'll have to do some gentle persuasion on the bus ride there:rolleyes1

Afterwards, we will get the photopass pictures done. Then i'm sure it will be time for the princess parade by then!! I need to duble check on the time for that once i arrive. They told me 12, but i saw someone else was told 2.

DH has decided that he didn't like WPE last trip :confused3 so Earl's it will be. That work's, becuase i really want one of these!
IMG_3150.jpg

Then it will be time to shop!! I think we will start at Goofy's. Then i must his World of Disney, and the Days of Christmas store. I'm sure the kids will want to check out the Lego store.

Hopefully we will have time to fit in a nap.

We have an ADR at Flying Fish at 530 (i think, but the ressie is at home). I haven't told my hubby about this one yet. I think he will really enjoy it. I know he woudl prefer the chef's table but i'm not spending that when A- i don't really drink and B- kids there.

Afterwords, its time to head over for F! we have never seen it. i'm hoping that there is enough time for the meal and lining up.

Sorry to hear about the pink eye, we have dealt with that too, definitely not fun. As for the backpack leash, I always said I would never leash my kids, lol, then I got ds and the rules changed! There was a time when that leash was my friend and we never left home without it. Thankfully, it didnt take to long for him to get that staying with me was a must. I am so jealous that you get to do BBB. My girls, one would never have tried it and the other thought she was too old when we took them to celebrate their adoption at WDW. I long for a little princess to do that with but alas, we are done. Maybe I will just have to borrow one of my nieces.

I'm so happy to hear that the leash worked well for you too! Around here they look at you like you have two heads if you mention the word leash!

Thanks for the well wishes or Maya! (you too lidian!) it seems to be a mild case, or at least we got it under control quickly.

I'm sorry your girls are too big for the bbb. It's our first time and I hve no idea if she will be into it next time so it's a must do for us this trip. But I think it's perfectly normal to borrow a niece to go! And maybe someday you can take a grandbaby there!

Sorry to hear about Maya's pinkeye & your loooong experience at the Take Care Clinic. We only have 1 near us & everytime I call, they can't get us in so I just gave up on it a few illnesses ago! :confused3

I don't know if this information will help or not. I almost bought one of those leashes to take to Disney last year too, but I didn't end up buying it. I decided to take a chance & see how it would go. Luke loves his stroller & will ride in it...as long as he's in a good mood and ONLY with me. If you add another person into the equation, forget about it! He will NOT go into a stroller. He also thinks that his daddy is wrapped around his finger. So if I put him into the stroller & he wants out, he will just cry until his dad takes him out of it. And if he doesn't, then Luke will throw a fit & it gets embarassing so finally my husband gives in. Of course, Luke knows this routine so he does everything he can to get my husband to do what he wants him to!

Well, moving along to Disney -- the first trip, Luke was 10 months old. We rented a stroller each morning at the park. This was fine at the parks & we thought it was such a convenient service for them to offer to guests! You simply walk to the gate, go to the stroller rental station, and off you go with a stroller! Well, this was fine for the parks, but what about our DTD day or walking around the resort? It started becoming more of a pain than a good thing. So, last year in June, we decided to take our own stroller. It was wonderful at the airport. Luke sat in it & we pushed him around while waiting for our flight. He was well behaved & stayed in it. We used the stroller at the resort some days because CBR is so spread out. Most of the time, Luke was fine with walking. He never once asked either my husband or I to hold him or carry him. He would just walk beside us & he was really good about staying near us or holding our hand. This behavior is NOT Luke behavior either!!! Trust me, when we are at home, he runs away from us at the stores. He won't sit in the buggy most of the time. He does everything he can to make one of us carry him around the mall. I guess its overwhelming to the little ones on vacation & they want to feel secure. Maybe their stroller provides them with that little bit of security. I don't know what it was, but trust me, Luke stayed in the stroller the entire trip!

I hope this info helps you a little bit! :thumbsup2

:banana::banana::banana:45 DAYS:banana::banana::banana:

I'm so excited! But starting to get nervous. I just am too unorganized right now. I better get it together!

And we are all paid off! That calls for more bananas!
:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

when I called I asked about the charge for cribs. I was told they were free- but if there weren't any available they would give us a pack n play. I thought there was a charge:confused3. I think I'll call back another time and ask again.

I also out in our room request. I went for- in this order-
ground floor, near DSA, building 44 or 45 (Jamaica)

I know it can be noisy on the ground floor but it just sounds so much easier when carrying 35 or 50 lbs of sleeping children. (they seem twice as heavy when they are asleep to me) plus stroller and everything else. The DSA's at CBR are big courtyard areas if I understand correctly, and possibly a good place to let the kids run off a little steam if needed. I would guess that Jamaica 45 may be the most requested building, so I added 44 first. It's a slight bit further from OPR but a little closer to the bus stop.

I hope I made a good choice. Last trip I used the building recommendations from the unofficial guide for our SSR stay. And I thought it was the perfect area for us. However, UG seemed to only recommend preferred rooms.

I can't believe we are going to get Mickey Mail in about 2 weeks
!

How exciting for only 45 more days!!! :thumbsup2

I think your building choice is great! I requested Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51 and we ended up with the second floor, building 45. I liked being on the 2nd floor because little creatures running around or being in my bed in Florida really creeps me out!!! However it was a pain in the butt with the stroller! We would have to either make Luke walk down the stairs while we carried the stroller OR we'd carry the stroller down with Luke in it (yeah, not the best or safest option in the world but my husband is a big guy so it worked out!)

I enjoyed the walk to OPR because it was just across the bridge & past the pool. It's less than a 5 minute walk. We also would go down the stairs & right across the small parking lot to the bus stop. I really, really think it was the absolute perfect location!!! It actually has me really worried for our future trips because I'm afraid our location won't be up to par with what it was last year!

I'm honestly not sure about the cribs. I read somewhere that they did charge extra for them, but maybe that was old information? Maybe they are free now? We never used them so I'm not sure. I know the pack & plays are free. That would be really awesome if the cribs were free! I hope that is the correct info & that you are able to get one!!! :thumbsup2

Let us know when your Mickey mail arrives!!! I'm getting so excited for your trip now!!!
