Anyone ever try this at Epcot? If so was there a ramp to get into the wading pool with the dolphins? Any info is appreciated!

I have done Dolphins in Depth three times. The fourth time coming in Oct. The first two times I did it, I was in my own scooter and I was able to take that into every area of DOD.The cast members showed me where to change into a wetsuit, you learn about dolphin habits, mannerisms etc, then you go into the tank. I left my chair there, while a CM helped me down a ramp and into the tank and we watched the instructors play with the dolphins until it was our turn. After coming out of the tank, towels were left on my scooter, so i wouldn't get it wet !!, I love Disney CM's !!!. The 2nd and 3rd times, I did DOD, I was using my own scooter BUT had to leave in a secure area and go into a WDW wheelchair and have a CM wheel me around into all the areas including the tank, I was the first one that they tried with a wheelchair in the tank with a dolphin so that they could get acclimated to. After you learn how to give the dolphins some commands, you then try them out. It's a lot of fun. You get a picture and T-shirt.

Well Worth the Experience !! :)

We actually saw them doing a practice session once. First they were getting the dolphins comfortable with just the wheelchair, then the wheelchair with a CM in it (I'm sure it wasn't a guest because of what the guy was doing with the wheelchair - he would get out, pcik it up and move it somewhere else without any help - and I don't imagine they would let a guest do that). Then they did a lot of - wheel the chair in....wheel the chair out......in.......out; over and over.

It looked pretty cool.

Hi thanks for the info!
My DD is 20 and she was born with hydrocephalus!!!

I am assuming that the floor of the dolphin tank is like a pool and not sand????
Do you know if she would have to get into a wetsuit or can she just wear her own bathing suit????? Thanks again for your help.

Hi,

The Dolphin tank is a 27ft pool of water and yes, she can wear her bathing suit underneath the wetsuit which is required. I suggest wearing a bathing suit underneath, anything else will get completely wet.

Hope all this info helps and let me know how she likes it.
