We just booked the Dolphin for a short trip over Thanksgiving. 11/23-11/27.

I say "&#$% you BRP....I got an AP discount at the Dolphin simply by calling them for $169.50 per night. I tried and tried to find a nice rate with BRP, have been trying for more a month or more, but everything came up rack rate. So, I was pleased. We usually stay at Disney owned resorts, but we did try the Swan last year for Thanksgiving and loved it!!!

I'm so excited. I do have a question. Never stayed at the Dolphin - any hints/tips on room requests. I booked the cheapest view, I think they called it lakeview and said I would have a partial view of Crescent Lake. Which is fine, we don't stress that much over views for shorter trips. I know where to find room layouts for our favorite Disney resorts, is there somewhere with the same info on the S/D?

Thanks everyone.

You will have a great time. IMO it's one of the nicest hotels (with the best beds)! Pools are wonderful and there are so many restaurant choices. A lake view should be perfect and depending on how crowded it is, you may be upgraded. Each time we stayed, we received an upgrade without even asking! I agree that this new discount plan doesn't seem to be a real bargain and there is such limited availability. Have fun.

Have a great time! You are going to love the DOLPHIN!

You will love the Dolphin, we have stayed there dozens of times, all different views.

Since you aren't locked into a specific view....I would request a room near an elevator ....it can be quite a haul to an elevator, the lobby, boat dock, etc....if you will be using the boat a lot to go to the parks I might even request a room close to the dock.

everyone for the encouragement. We loved the Swan and I'm sure we'll feel the same way about the Dolphin. $169.50 is pretty darn good for Thanksgiving weekend. POOEY to the BRP!!!!! We don't need no stinkin' best rate plan. If they fool with me, I'll stay at the S/D from now on and they won't receive the tons of money we typically spend at the Disney owned properties. SO THERE. Ha!

Hi Pam - See you at the Dolphin. We are arriving on 11/24. I tried to get the AP rate at the Dolphin for our entire trip but couldn't so we are switching over to the BC on 11/27. Have a great trip. I hope you enjoy the Dolphin as much as we do.

The Dolphin is our favorite resort we love it.

Join the starwood program it is free and you may get some benefits even on your first stay. It is a short walk to the boat ramp and even walkable to Epcot and MGM - especially great after Illuminations or Fantasmic. Personally I would give up close to the elevator for a good view or even a balcony - they are sometimes generous. In fact in over 20 stays at WDW proper I have never gotten an upgrade vs at the Dolpin I have about 1/4 of the time, fwiw I have never asked.

My girls love tubbies its like a foodcourt but more of a cafeteria and the food is great. My dd's love the homeade soup - a nice find on vacation with to many chicken nuggets and the pizza.

I have always found the staff more than gratious and never miss that "disney" spirit. While I do like Mickey wake up calls I don't miss them and I just love the heavenly beads.

Enjoy
TJ

I can't comment on the Dolphin because we only stay at the Swan, but I just wanted to say I agree with you about the BRP, I missed booking it by like 2 days. I looked at the disney deluxes for the part of our trip not covered by my dh convention but we ended up with the great mousefest rate for $129 for our family of 5 at the swan for dec 1-3. If they dont change the brp stuff or we cant get a good deal I too will come back to the swan next easter. Maybe disney will hear us all!! Have a great trip.
