Dolphin hotel is cutting power from 2am-5am

Just checked into the Dolphin and they told us they are cutting off the power from 2am-5am. Really wish they would have said that sooner I would have cancelled and booked somewhere else. Not looking forward to having no A/C :guilty:
I may be in the minority here is the thread with @FSU Girl but I agree with you this it not something that gets a vacation off to a good start during a Disney vacation. Here in South Florida we get enough Flicker Power & Light (FPL) as they plan for hurricane season and they do preventive work throughput the year with no warnings. It did not sound like surprise work if they knew about it since Monday, more like a scheduled outage.

I a a light sleeper so it would certainty interrupt my sleep. At least they did refund your monies and you were able to make alternative arrangements for your lodging and I am glad that you found a room at the BC. Hopefully the rest of your vacation is less eventful.

I know DH would not be happy either! We also have FPL and love your name for them...very fitting. Yeah, had a brown out twice this week.

This happened to us once at POP. In late May. It’s a non issue. Room won’t get hot in that short of time. And. After spending 8 month in the Middle East. even without power for a day would be cooler than that lol. Seriously though. You won’t even notice. Especially since you were moved. I just saw that.

It’s the humidity that gets to me, more than the heat. Our a/c has been on for a while already this year, along with ceiling fans. Reduces the humidity big time.

Sadly, my husband uses a CP too. We bought a battery pack to use on an upcoming big outdoors trip but don’t pack it to go when we go to WDW. We expect to have electricity!

OP, enjoy the Beach Club! And I hope the wedding was wonderful!

I would’ve switched too. I need a fan or something on at night. If it’s turbed off i wake up immediately. And i need it extremely cool so no AC wouldn’t work for me.

My AC broke in my old apartment once on an 80 degree day. They couldn’t fix it until the next day. I had my complex pay for my hotel for the night. A bit extreme for some but i just couldn’t sleep!

What do people with medical equipment do (aren't CPAP machines run on electricity)? Do hotels have generators for such guests? I realize the power can go out due to a storm or other unexpected emergency, so maybe medical machines have a back up generator?

So when I travel ( a lot for work) I have to have a fan blowing on my face. We bought one to plug into a USB port. Worse comes to worse buy one of those and plug it into your laptop ( again if you brought your laptop)
