Dolls house shops

I am not sure which forum to post this question on, does anyone know ?

My daughter age 9, is getting a Dolls house for Christmas. We thought it would be nice to look at some dolls house shops while we are on holiday. Does anyone know if there are any in the Orlando area ? It is a popular hobby so I am assuming that there will be some.

I don't know of any specific dolls house shops - but there is a huge craft store called Michaels at the top of I-drive, not far from Universal Studios, and they have stuff for all crafts. I'm pretty sure they have dolls houses in there.

it's not a specialist store, more of a supermarket, but they tend to have a lot of stuff and the prices are keen. (they have a lot more than they show online)

Another option would be to pick up a specialist magazine and see if there are any stores listed in the back, all my scrapbooking magazines have a shop locator section in the back which list a few stores in the Orlando area.

I would imagine that you would also find some of the bigger stores may have some in their Toy Sections. I'm thinking more of Wal-Mart, K-Mart and Target?

They all seem to stock a variety of stuff from Clothes, Groceries, Fishing Equipment, Camping Equipment, Kitchen Stuff, etc. etc. so it's possible they would have something amongst their toy setion.

I don't live in Florida (wish I did!) but live in Northeastern Pennsylvania however, I was able to find two listed in the yellow pages--Ron's Minature Shop, 751 West Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL Phone (407) 841-9333 and Connie's Crafts and Minatures, 611 West Vine Street, Kissimmee, FL Phone (407) 846-9088. I would call before heading to either place just to make sure that they have what you are looking for and to make sure that they are still in business! Hope this helps. Also, if you can access the same things that we can access on the web, you can check out all doll house/minatures shops in any state by going to www.miaa.com and clicking on Retailer Directory and then clicking on location and putting in the state you want information for. Too bad you weren't planning a trip to PA because we have a beautiful shop right around the corner from me (www.hazelshutminiatures.com)! Thank you very much for your replies. The houses are amazing, so different for the ones in the UK and a lot cheaper. I will definitly have to have a look at them when I visit.
