I just got an email that Dollar Car Rental is offering a new special they are calling "Lock Low and Go".

You pick the rate, they provide the car. "We guarantee that you’ll get an Intermediate or larger vehicle for less than our regular Intermediate price."

It certainly sounds interesting! :scratchin

I got the same email, but, when I tried to use that code on the Dollar website for our October trip, I kept getting the message "no vehicle available". So, obviously, Dollar still has some bugs with that code.

did you by chance change the "type of vehicle" eg choosing a van, i found that when i did this the code did not work....the same message came up as you stated....

when i did not change anything it came back with a price for the promotion

I didn't get the email, anyone want to share the code?

the promo code is :wild you can read about it on the right hand side of dollars front page. however, it didn't seem to work for me? maybe because
we will be away during labor day there is probably some black out days???

Well, now, that is interesting...I clicked on my own link and it did not take me to the page showing the special rate and info! :confused3

The discount promo code is WILD. If I can get the link to hold, it should take you right to the page telling info about the special rate and have the code all filled in to check for a vehicle.

Yes, this is the site: http://www.dollar.com/special_offers/details.aspx but it just does not seem to want to stay put in a link! Arg!

Under "car type" it needs to say lock low and go (instead of a specific car type). It's one of the choices under car type. And then type WILD into the promo box. I got a rate to come up that way. (I used dates at the end of November)

same here....when u use the url posted it now brings up a different right hand side PAGE.....Called Featured Specials

it asks if you have a dollar promo code .....if you put WILD in the Please enter it here, it takes you to the "lock low and go" on the left side of the page.....

I tried the WILD code earlier today and got a HIGHER rate than the one I already have reserved for a full size. So I'll stick with my original rate and have a full size guaranteed. But I'll keep checking both ways like always and hope something even cheaper comes along.:thumbsup2

If anyone else is finding a better rate with this special, please let us know. It will keep this code bumped up for others to use. :thumbsup2

I just booked using the wild code and got a rate much less than what I had booked at Thrifty. We will be there late Oct.

I used the code "oi1054" on an intermediate that I found on Mousesavers and got a MUCH lower rate than using the wild code with the lock, low & go. When I say MUCH lower, I really mean MUCH lower.

Code wild choosing Lock, low & go was $303.16
Code oi1054 choosing an intermediate was $167.74

:scared1: Oh, my, that is just sad. :sad2:

I'll just add that I used "lock low" for vehicle type, combined with an unrelated discount code yesterday, and got a lower rate than I had gotten with "wild".

So maybe the two aren't joined at the hip. But today, rates were up at Dollar, and down at National, for my mid-September dates.

I just rented for 9/5-9/9 with dollar for $17 per day for an intermediate. One of their "specials" on the website

Subscribing so I can have this discount info.

THANKS for posting it!!
