Is there any difference in service taking a VA flight and booking a car directly with Dollar than using a VH flydrive package?

Obviously we won't have access to the VH reps (this might be an advantage) but otherwise will we notice any difference?

VH Flydrive you can book far earlier, than flights only, say for 2009, VH, may start in March, VA will be 11 months in advance.

VA+car could be cheaper, and yes no reps,

Virgin have a dedicated Dollar desk at Orlando airport which avoids the main queues, so if you book direct with Dollar I would advise you to register for Dollar Express, which means you also get to avoid the queues.

In terms of service certainly no worse, only difference is the saving booking a separate car yourself.

However you might just find that booking a Fly Drive and still doing the car yourself is cheaper.
Sounds crazy but that's the way it is sometimes.

Thanks for your replies. I'd forgotten about the earlier booking, but we probably won't be booking until the 11 month stage anyway. It's good to know that there are no real differences, I think that price will make the final decision for me.

We um'd and ah'd about just flights this year and no car. (we're DVC members so we only really need flights)

However, flights for 3 adults return for the 1st 2 weeks of December worked out about £1300, give or take depending on Airline. And we'd have to pay for the flights up front a few weeks ago.

When DBF enquired with VH about a fly-drive we can get the same dates, return, with a car for the 2 weeks for £1500. And we only have the deposit to cover now not the full balance (brilliant seeing as we have like 20 birthdays in Feb and March!!)

Made sense to us to go for it. And we're taking my Father and it's his 1st trip so we'll be able to go 'off-site' a bit easier now with having the car.

Oh and DBF is a frequent traveller thingy with VH so we got a free upgrade on the car too
