Dole Whip - Please Explain

My opinion of the pineapple float was that it was SUPER overrated! I tried it with vanilla/orange swirl I think (which tasted like creamsicle which wasn't bad) but the whole thing was so sweet it kind of ruined it. It is a great value on DDP I must say for 1 snack credit. I thought it would be a refreshing treat but I thought it was just a sticky mess and made me crave water! With it not being actual froyo I was a little disappointed in it.

The one treat I didn't think was overrated was the red velvet cheesecake cupcake from Starring Rolls. Well, the cupcake itself wasn't amazing but it was very moist...but the frosting was so yummy w/ the toffee bits!

Two things: First if you think you had a Pineapple Float with Vanilla/Orange Soft Serve, then I'm sorry to inform you that you did not have a Dole Whip Pineapple Float but something of your own invention. That's OK, but you shouldn't be telling people that the "Pineapple Float" was overrated when that wasn't what you had. Pineapple Juice and Orange Soft Serve doesn't sound very appealing to me either.

Second: You may be referring to a Dole Whip Soft Serve only with the Vanilla and Orange Twist. That would be completely different.

Count me in as another fan of Dole Whip. I agree with a previous poster who said it tastes like Disney World. I am a freak that way: I even like the Nescafé and will miss it now that it is gone. I even like the smell of the Florida water in the shower! So I am sure that's why I like it so much. I associate it with the place.

We have a new last-day tradition. Instead of leaving right away, we go over to the Poly for one last Dole Whip on the way out. There are some advantages: it is air conditioned in there, far less crowded, AND, most importantly, it is self-serve, so you can pile it up as high as you want!

Well technically all three flavors of soft serve are Dole Whip(now officially called Dole Soft Serve). A pineapple float is anything ice cream like in pineapple juice.

A dole whip float doesn't have to be pineapple soft serve in pineapple juice, it's just that for the purest (which i am one) it's pineapple in pineapple. Maybe pineapple/vanilla twist in pineapple juice.

We love the pineapple dole whip and enjoy sharing the float on occasion when in MK and a good size cup when in the Poly. This past May, we were visiting EPCOT on a very warm day, we were craving something cool. Right in front of us (and a little to the right) as we crossed the bridge to World Showcase, there was a Dole Whip stand. Never saw it before, but it was a welcome site and CM said it would be there permanently. DH and I indulged in a cup of dole whip and it was the best we've ever had. Going back to Disney in October and will be looking for that EPCOT stand again. :)

Was it during F&W and was there an option to add rum? If so i think it was only a temp location as far as i know.

Honestly, just the thought of that gags me! Vanilla OK, that one is universal, otherwise it would be something that I would consider criminal. :rotfl:

I certainly does to me, and I would bet the majority of the rest feel the same way. Dole doesn't have a reputation for orange or whatever other flavor they offer. That is just to give the non-pineapple people something to buy. Dole is identified with Pineapple.

Others may call it what they want but when I walk up to the counter and ask for a Dole Whip Float...I get Pineapple everything...no questions asked.::yes::

The only thing you need to know about a Dole Whip is...

Get a dang Dole Whip!:thumbsup2

Nan P said it was in May, so it may have been during F&G. I think Josh at easyWDW posted about being able to get it with rum added.

It was in May that we discovered it in EPCOT..... and it was a week during the flower and garden. Maybe it was just brought in for that? Don't know, but like I said, I'll be looking for it again on my October trip. If it is gone, I'll just get my pineapple Dole Whip fix in MK or the Poly.

They had it with or wo rum at the Spring garden fest at Epcot. Yum

I tried the float (pineapple swirled with vanilla in pineapple juice) and wasn't a fan, and I love pineapple. Tried it again with orange in pineapple juice and it was heaven. I can get both pineapple and the orange at my local yogurt shop. I swirl them and dream of sitting on a bench in Adventureland.

I love Dole Whip but I just get the soft serve without the pineapple juice. I didn't care for the float. My kids didn't like it but they are crazy. :D

And I get the pineapple flavor at Orange Leaf too every time I go for frozen yogurt. It's been so long since I've had the Disney one, that this one makes me happy!!!

I like the Dole Whip, but it's a bit too tart for me. I can't eat a whole one by myself. This time around my husband got the Dole Whip and I got a root beer float. Perfect. I got a little of the Dole Whip, he got a little of my float, everyone was happy.

I love Dole Whips (had 4 when I was there last week)!! I am lactose intolerant, so it's the closest thing to my beloved ice cream that I can have.
