I'm a little late, but agreeing that we need a Germany report! My cousin is in the navy, stationed in Virginia now. He is hoping to go to Germany for two years and I am hoping to visit him!

Ohh I never really wanted to travel outside of North America either until I went to Germany with Carolin. That started it all and now I want to see the entire world! HAhaha but I will definitely share the trip! It's an interesting country. So much old history and then a lot of it destroyed by war and rebuilt as modern as you could imagine. Very cool.

Photography 201?

Hello all!

One tiny piece of news that shouldn't surprise anyone. My parents' package people called them back and said that they won't be able to do anything yet because Disney doesn't release their rooms until 10 months out.

I know, right?

Anyway they said our request is at the top of the list for next January. That's the end of that for a while. I'm NOT counting on them so I won't have to worry about having my dreams crushed.

Question for you all.

Last year's PTR included some basic photography lessons and I know a lot of people really enjoyed that. Would anyone be interested in picking up where we left off? An intermediate set of lessons perhaps? I'm planning an Intermediate Camera Class for work and it got me thinking about you guys.

Thoughts? Yes? No? Maybe so?

I love teaching camera stuff.

Another "yes" vote for the Germany trip report! You should pretend you're doing the entire thing from the Germany pavilion in Epcot and totally confuse everyone when they can't find the same things you're seeing. You know, like the key under the mat.

I also vote yes on the camera class even though it won't do my a shred of good. I love reading that kind of stuff!

A big vote "YES" for camera stuff as well. You explain things in a great way to make them understandable. I for one would love some explanations on how to get photos like the sunrise one at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I get so frustrated cause no matter how I try I can't get my settings right on my D90 to get a good sunrise/sunset.. Iphone camera no problem which just makes me madder lol

You should do a web site where all your lessons are posted. I still need to work on the whole fireworks thing. Maybe you could do a refreshing on that before July 4th.

I hope everything works out with your parents points. I guess its could not to get your hopes up because then when it DOES work out, you will be super excited!

Your Germany trip sounds like its going to be a lot of fun! Will your friend be with you the whole trip? Do you speak German?

Sorry to hear about your possible cancellation on the WDW trip! To be honest I felt like you on my Dec 2013 trip with my sister & nephew. I joking tell anyone who listens, let's go to WDW! Well I had 2 different sets of family members take me up on it outside of DH wanting to go! Summary of long 2013 story:

1. We were supposed to have a big family trip with sibs, My. mom & nephews in Sept- nothing officially booked just a lot of talk until SIL announced she was pregnant & due in Oct. My Mom cancelled trip (story of my life, never been to Disney with parents-broken heart).

2. So I was very heart broken & fav aunt/godmother that I'm very close with suggested she & I go to WDW, DH very supportive of this as he was recent grad looking for new employment & did not think he would be able to take a vacation for a yr if he got a new job. Aunt & I went & had a blast in May.

3. A month before aunt trip DH got a new job & would be able to get vacation after 6mos so I booked a bounce back & upgraded ticket to AP. so now I had 2 trips in a yr that had none! DH & I went last wk oct/1st wk nov. we had the best trip ever & I bought TIW

4. In aug my sister started saying she wanted to go to WDW with just me, her & my nephew. She really wanted to go in sept, I explained I had a trip the following month & that sept is a hot month. My sister would not let up & really started guilt tripping me saying stuff "this was you idea," "I really need a trip,""I'm depressed & this will really cheer me up," "I really want to go when son is young, I want you to come with us.". My sister was really upset about the cancelled fam trip. So I told her, let's go in the spring, it will give me time to recoup- get thru holidays & save money after trip with DH. She would not give in on this, saying she needed this trip before end of yr as they could be getting a foster child anytime in late dec as all of the paperwork would be complete. So I went, don't get me wrong I was very blessed to go & we had fun, but my heart was not really in it. It was really cool to be a part of my nephews 1st trip & see everything thru a 4 yrs old eyes as I've never been to WDW before with a child. I just wish we went in the spring instead. I just felt like I was never able to get caught back up after trip with DH & then with holidays it was too many trips in. 5-6 wk period with holidays. (sister did a foster son about a wk after trip, they still have him & started paperwork to adopt, so it worked out for her in the end)

So this became a book instead of a quick summary....

I would love more photography lessons. I am going to try to cram and practice from your original set of lessons before my trip next week. I'm hoping I am brave enough to take out the big girl camera a few times, although I know I will be relying mostly on my point & shoot for convenience and in the sand and surf.

You know you are to far behind when all of a sudden your all caught up. So your last two questions have to be answered with yes and yes. My mom and her family are from Germany. They moved to the states when my mom turned 16. So I would love to see some great pictures from your trip. I always wished of seeing the Alps but don't think I ever will.
I know it is never easy thinking of cancelling a Disney trip. I had to cancel this years trip and coming to terms that I won't make it back now till 2016. (Wow that is the first time I have typed that.) Chris, my hubby, wants me to keep planning for next year. Who knows, maybe winning lottery ticket or a big raise will happen. Only thing stopping next year would be vacation time. So who knows, only time will tell.

Hahaha I know, iPhones are so easy it's sickening! Sunsets/sunrises are a good one. I'll make sure to touch on that.

That's exactly what we're doing! LOW expectations. If it doesn't work out, I'm ok with that. We're going to book Yacht Club! If it does work out, all the better, financially!

I can't wait. Yes, she will be our tour guide for the whole trip! I barely speak any German, I have an app on my phone and I've been learning, but it's slow going and I certainly can't hold a conversation!

Ahhh yeah I totally get the whole guilted in thing. Family is tough!!

So yeah. Sorry for that. To steal a gif from my TR:

Speaking of my TR, I just finished it this morning. I was wanting to draw it out so that I didn't have to think about this mess of a PTR, but I leave for Germany in 3 days and I want to finish up some things.

And by things I mean trip reports. Not packing or anything important like that.

So yeah! Germany! We leave Sunday night, fly overnight and arrive at 8am in Frankfurt. I will probably be sharing some photos along the way to my Facebook (please feel free to PM me if you want to be FB friends!) and to my Instagram: teekathepony

I'm off today so I'm finishing up a few things on the Dis. I've given myself until 11:00 and then it's major packing and organizing time because I work tomorrow, I have a camera course Saturday, and early Sunday morning we leave for Halifax, go to a bridal shower and then high-tail it to the airport.

Johnny still doesn't have an absolute answer to whether he can get the time off in September for our trip, but I have to admit it's looking more and more likely. His step-father (and boss) said they'll have to talk about it though, so I'm just hoping they do it soon because I'm STILL going crazy not knowing. We have not made plans or bought tickets or anything of course. Hopefully after Germany we can get things settled one way or the other.
