Doing WDW on my own again, a February 2012 PTR

I LOVE Animal Kingdom and plan to spend a whole day there the next time we go. I skipped EE (too much for this "older" woman) this trip.

But I love the trails, etc., and the Safari was awesome last week.

Animal Kingdom is my favorite park! :cloud9: I am a bit of an animal freak, so I usually do the safari multiple times each day and the trails too. You will see later in my plans that I am doing the Wild Africa Trek too. I also spend at least 2 days there each trip, and will this time too.

EE is definitely one of my favorite rides. I don't know what kind of rides you can handle, but I have had friends who don't ride roller coasters and who get motion sickness easily try it and LOVE it! But, you know what is best for you, and the trails, safari and shows make the park worth it anyway :goodvibes

I used to LOVE EE and Space Mountain. However, after I reached "50", I can no longer handle them (although I did SM with the kids last week).

To be honest Space Mountain sometimes messes with me, and I can ride ANY ride with no problems. It is a bit jerky and just hurts me more than anything. But I still ride it, mostly for the nostalgia factor

Not many people spend the whole day at Animal Kingdom, but we did on our last trip and loved it! So much to see, and I'm sure doing it in the cooler February month will make it easier than HOT August.

I definitely spend a whole day there. I think most people that don't probably skip the trails and such, but they are my favorite things. :goodvibes The first 2 times I went to WDW was mid-August, so I remember that heat. Never again, if I can help it!

DAY 5, WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 15TH: HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS

As usual, I will be getting up at 7am to be at the bus stop by 8:15am. The parks all open at 9am each day, so that makes the most sense for me :goodvibes

MUST RIDES/DOs:

Toy Story Midway-Mania
Tower of Terror
Rockin Rollercoaster
Star Tours
Drawing Class @ Art of Animation
Beauty and the Beast
Fantasmic!
Muppets

MEALS:

I have an ADR for lunch at Mama Melrose at 1:10pm for the Fantastmic! Package. Dinner will probably be Backlot Express or Pizza Planet, depending on what I'm in the mood for.

I am seeing Fantasmic! for the first time ever this trip. I don't know how I have missed it the other 4 times (actually 2 trips ago my sister was very sick that night, so I know why I didn't that trip). I've also never seen Beauty and the Beast, so I will be sure to see that too.

NEXT DAY: ANIMAL KINGDOM, DAY 2

DAY 6, THURSDAY OCTOBER 16TH: ANIMAL KINGDOM, PART 2

I am getting up early this morning, but for a great reason. I will probably get up around 6am as I am doing the Wild Africa Trek at 8am :goodvibes I have to be at the gate at AK by 7:45am, so I want to be at the bus stop around 7-7:15am to make sure I get a bus in time. The tour lasts 3 hours, so after the tour I will stay in AK for the day.

MUST RIDES/DOs:

It's Tough to Be a Bug
Festival of the Lion King
Nemo
Kilimanjaro Safari (yes, even after the tour )
Kali River Rapids (maybe)
Expedition Everest

MEALS:

Lunch will be Flame Tree BBQ or Pizzafari, dinner will be the other, most likely.

I am debating the last thing I have scheduled for the day. I have a 50 minute Swedish massage booked for 7pm at Saratoga Springs. I am going back and forth on cancelling it. I have up until 48 hours out, and can't decide for sure. Part of me says cancel it, since it will cost me about $120 (after the discount but including tip) and the other part says after all the walking I will be doing I will want it. Right now I'm leaning toward keeping it, but who knows :rotfl: If I do it I will just take the bus right to SSR from AK, then walk over to DTD to get the bus back to POP afterward.

NEXT DAY: MAGIC KINGDOM, PART 2 AND THE LAST PARK DAY :guilty:

We have always enjoyed our meals at Mama Melrose. Have you considered Starring Rolls for dinner? It's much better than any of the other counter services at the Studios.

I am NOT a fan of Disney pizza (or Florida pizza for that matter), but I had a pizza at Pizzafari last week and it wasn't bad at all.

You know, I somehow missed that Starring Rolls is on the QS Dining Plan. Thanks for that, because I will definitely plan on eating there for dinner instead.

I prefer the breadsticks at Pizzafari over the pizza. I may eat at Yak & Yeti Local Foods instead, or maybe just eat two different things at Flame Tree!

Keep the massage!!!!!!! I LOVE massages, and I think you'll definitely need (and deserve) a massage after all that walking! :cloud9: Speaking of which, I need to book my next one...

I am leaning toward keeping it. I get a monthly massage and had mine yesterday. I wanted it as close to the vacation as possible, and she is on vacation starting today, so yesterday it was! But I'm sure I will need another one after walking the parks for those 5 days, so I will keep it for now at least. I don't have to cancel until next Tuesday, so I will have 3 days in the park by then and will know how sore I am! :lmao:

I'm soooooo excited that you're getting to do the Wild Africa Trek! I can't wait to hear what you think about it. I know that April loved it and I am sure you will too. Color me jealous!

:teeth: That is the single thing I am the most excited about on this trip! :cloud9: I will take a ton of pictures, so you will get to feel like you are there in my TR! Hopefully you guys will be able to do it someday.

I don't blame you for being excited. I had thought about booking it for our upcoming trip but then we added the cruise. Hopefully, they will still being doing the trek in 2013.

Your plans sound awesome!!!!! I'm super excited to hear what you think of Wild Africa Trek. If the foot bridges make you nervous at all, tell the guides & remember- if I did it, ANYONE can do it.
Sorry I was away from your PTR for so long- I have been sick with a horrible head cold. It is finally clearing up, though!
Your trip is coming up SO fast! I hope you have a fantastic time. You are going to LOVE Wild Africa Trek!

I hope they keep the WAT too, because I have a feeling I will want to do it again in the future.

I don't think I will be nervous on the foot bridge, since I'm not scared of heights or things like that, but if I am I will remember that :goodvibes

Sorry you have been sick. Winter colds are the worst, as the weather just makes you feel more miserable. I'm glad you are finally feeling better.

I can't wait for my trip. This time on Saturday I will be loading up the car to go to the airport. :woohoo::banana:

DAY 7, FRIDAY FEBRUARY 17TH: MAGIC KINGDOM, DAY 2

I will be getting up at 7am once again this day, my last park day :guilty: However, if I'm too tired I may sleep in since I would have already done MK once. I probably will get up at 7am though, cause I'm a rope drop kinda girl :goodvibes

MUST RIDES/DOs:

Haunted Mansion (don't know how I forgot this on the first day list!)
Splash Mountain
Space Mountain
Pirates of the Caribbean
Buzz Lightyear
Characters!
Anything else I missed on the first day there
Wishes!
Main Street Electrical Parade (not running my first day there, so this is my only shot for it)

MEALS:

Probably Pinocchio Village Haus and Casey's, though I'm not locking anything in and will eat at any of the CS places there.

They are open until 1am (without EMH!) and I will stay as long as possible, since I can sleep as late as I want the next day. I will probably try to stay until 1am since it is my last day in a park.

NEXT DAY: VISITING CBR, AND ANYTHING ELSE NON-PARK RELATED
