My wife and I are going for our 2nd Disney vacation together in March for 9 days. We've already got a bunch of tours planned and some ADR's made. I'm getting nervous that we may get overwhelmed with too much to do!

How do you do all the things you want to do, without getting so exausted that it doesn't feel like a vacation?

Well, you need to have a general plan but not be so uptight about it that all the fun gets sucked out of it. For example, just say "Magic Kingdom on M, W, and Sat. MUST SEE RIDES- POTC, Haunted Mansion . Animal Kingdom on TUes. MUST SEE RIDES - Killimunjaro Safaris" and go like that during your stay. Just have somewhat of an idea but dont feel too pressured.

When it comes to ADR's and tours, I am sure you won't feel too pressured with that. Just roll with it. You can always cancel things if you realize it's too much.

Just, very broadly, know what you are doing each day.

The only thing we (well to be honest I  ) plan is which park we will visit on each day (or if it will be a pool day) and one, sometimes two, ADR's per day. We decide where we want to go first while we are having breakfast and go from there!! We go for nine days so we visit each park twice so there is no need to rush to get in every attraction in one day!!

Er, well... to be honest I do way too much and am completely worn out by day two usually. Which means I can't wake up early enough to get to the parks early for the remainder of the trip. Those EMH this past summer helped me (Epcot til midnight, MK until 2, MGM until 1). LOL. So, from a 110% perspective of "do as I say, not as I do":

Take breaks when you need to, sometimes even when you don't need to. Sit on a bench, linger longer in a restaurant, or do other more rest-like activities. For me they are: Country Bears, Tikki Room, and Hall of Presidents in MK (chance to get off your feet; Carousel of Progress as well, if it's open); American Adventure in Epcot or the film in France (China you have to stand up, I believe), or Universe of Energy if you've got plenty of time to spend. MGM: One Man's Dream film, Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, etc. AK: basically linger in the restaurants/CS places.

Pace yourself; don't run yourself ragged the first day or, like me, you'll be worn out the remainder of the trip. Take a nap if you need one or just stay in the parks until early evening one day so you can get a good night's sleep.

If your plans get too much for you, cancel an ADR or a tour if necessary (provided the latter gives you your money back).

Take 1 day and just relax/hang out at your resort/shop and eat in DTD.

Flip through a planning book and get an idea of what rides/shows you both want to see. Then you'll have your must-sees, and work in other things as possible.

And possibly the most important thing: get plenty of rest before you go! Won't help you one bit if you're exhausted going into the vacation. Alas, I am guilty of that one too.

Get plenty of rest and do not visit the parks every day.

Take your time and you will enjoy the experience a lot more.

We take naps, or at least return to our rooms every afternoon for rest and recovery. :cloud9:

It is just NOT possible to tour the parks every day all day for more than a couple of days without having a big train wreck of tiredness.

this is easier said than done. whenever my family plans a down day, we swim, go mini gofling and then by midafternoon, we decide to heck with this, lets go to a park.

The last time we were at DisneyWorld we were at the parks from open to close! We had a great time, but were so tired when we got home. We travel very well together, so only got crabby with each other a few times..mostly when we were super hot and needed to eat to keep the blood sugar up.

I'm torn between having a relaxing vacation with trying to squeeze in as much Disney as possible in 9 days! :earseek:

we very often deviate BIG TIME from our "planned" week. It's good to have an idea of what you want to do and eat. But be prepared to switch your plans based on weather, being tired, or not hungry at any time.

I am another one who tries to squeeze everything in as fast as possible. Aug 04 was the first time I had been back to disney since 1995, before that I had spent approx 56 nights there. So I was just go go go, my poor boyfriend was about to ring my neck as I like to run to the rides and may knock down a few little kids who get in my way (jkhheeehhheehe). Anyway, last Aug we went back and I was much more relaxed, now in 04 we stayed at POFQ and in 05 we were at the BC, which being so close to Epcot really was nice, we spent much less time on busses and more time in the Park and at the hotel. One morning mid week we just slept in and laid around the pool, since the pool was so crowded in the afternoon. Then went ot the park in the evening.
