So, when you go out to eat, and you have leftover food, do you ask for a doggie bag to take it home in?
We pretty much always do, even though we more often than not end up throwing the food away a couple of days later.
What about you?

I always do. I just can't see wasting the food, and restaurant portions tend to be way too big. Someone in my house will always eat the leftovers.

I always eat about half and take the other half home for lunch the next day.

I almost always ask for a doggie bag, and then I eat the leftovers the next day for lunch. I like to have room for dessert at dinner when we go out. ;)

It totally depends on what it is and how much is left. In all honesty my DH usually eats about 1/4-1/2 of my dinner when we go out so there isn't always much left when all is said and done. Some food I know will reheat well and others not so much. So if I think it will reheat well, I will take it.

It depends. I usually order an entree salad, and that can get soggy in a doggy bag. But if we have an entree that'll taste OK the next day for lunch and if we're going straight home from the restaurant, then we might ask for a doggy bag. Dh and ds never have leftover food in a restaurant. LOL

I guess an offshoot of this question might be if you've ever asked for a doggie bag from a WDW restaurant (especially if you are staying on-site)

I'm so stingy that I always order something, that I know we can get 2 meals out of. We tend to eat at places like Olive Gardens and East Side Marios with unlimited salad and breadsticks, then an entree that reheats well. I pig out on the free stuff, and only eat half my entree.

Otherwise we eat at places that have meals we can share.

Always. Even if there is just a few bites of steak left I will get something to take it home if for nothing else other than to give it to an actual doggie (who can smell that we've eaten out and gets especially excited if she smells Texas Roadhouse or Outback when we walk through the door).

I almost always do and also almost always eat it later.

With us they trully are "Doggie" bags. Especially when we go Italian and bring back pasta. Those two chow-hounds love dey pasta!

When we go out I always get seafood like seafood fettucine. A soon as it is served I split it and push half of it aside on my plate. Because I'm watching my weight I don't need to eat the entire meal. Too much! I bring it home and eat it the next day for dinner. I love eating this the next day. It tastes better after all the flavors have had time to meld. Yum!

Unless it's just some fries or something left, I ALWAYS bring it home, and usually ahve it for lunch the next day. I hate wasting food!

I very rarely have food leftover. I don't really ask for a doggie bag because I'm just not much of a leftover person. I don't see the point of bringing home a few bites of something.

The portions are just so large at restaurants nowadays so we eat half there and take the rest home for lunch or dinner the next day. Two meals for the price of one! :thumbsup2

We take home most of the time. We have started ordering less food & still end up have lots left over. Either portions sizes have really increased or my 40+ metabolism just can't handle eating that much anymore!

I'm wondering what do y'all do at a really "nice" restaurant? We've been trying to get to some of our really great New Orleans fine dining places. I've been a bit intimidated to request a "doggie" bag at a few of them. I'm talking about the type of place that they have the guy with the little bread crumb sweeper. Is it proper or tacky?

Hey, if you paid for it, it's your food - go for it. Although I would probably call it a take home portion as opposed to a doggie bag. :rotfl:

I always get a doggie bag and I always eat the leftovers (unless DH gets to it first :sad2: )

Yeah - but I don't call it a "doggie bag". I ask for a container to take the rest home. I almost always have it for lunch the next day.
