My dog loves toys but destroys every one I get him in short order. Can anyone recommend a durable toy? I don't want to continue wasting money!

our jack russell kills toys
his frisbee lasts 6 months, it's a flexible one guaranteed from specialty store
also antelope antlers and kong

I haven't found anything that lasts.

Other than just allowing them to play with it with you in attendance for short times, my dog tears anything to shreds and makes a big mess for me to clean up.

This includes dog beds.

Eats them.

She is a Norwegian Elkhound.

Toys last longer with our Yorkie.

At least until the big dog gets them.

We've had some pretty good luck with "Air Kong" products.

Oddly enough - she "babies" a beanie-baby giraffe and wouldn't dream of hurting it.

And yes...we just tossed out a dog bed...

Have you tried Kong toys? We had one that outlasted the life of our Malamute who ate a hole in his stainless steel water dish. He loved it, and try as he might, he could not destroy it.

I'm going to try the Kong toys. If you have a Tractor Supply store in your area, they are 20% off through Dec. 24.

We had a small kong for the Yorkie.

Haven't seen it in quite some time.

Maybe the big dog ate it...

LOL, our Kong was the giant size, the biggest one they made. My current little dogs, won't touch the little Kong. It sits at the bottom of the toy box, and never comes out.

We bought a toy from petsmart or petco-it was shaped like a tire-tire biter
or something like that-the lab has yet to destroy it.:)

Ruff dawg toys hold up well with my GSD. I also buys him toys to destroy when they're on sale for 75% off, like the plush stuff after holidays.

I have a Westie and a Scottie who will gut a stuffed toy in 3 seconds flat. Most vinyl toys suffer the same fate. The ones we like best are made by JW Pet. They are rubber and come in a variety of styles. We started off with a Good Cuz/Bad Cuz. Feet were chewed off but the ball portion is still intact a year later. The Scottie doesn't care which style but the Westie loves the Ruffian line from the same company. He will walk around with it in his mouth, play keep away or just lay and chew it. Very durable if your dog likes ball type toys and they come in different sizes. :thumbsup2

We also like the JW Pet toys. The Bad Cuz is still intact four years later (can't say the same for the Kongs). Our Bad Cuz has nubbier feet than some of the ones I have seen - I don't know if they changed them or if we have a different style, but the feet are harder to chew off. Our dog also has a squeaky bone and a ball with holes (can't remember the name) from JW Pet that have fared well. He did manage to destroy the three ring tug toy by chewing each ring off individually, but we bought a new one today for Christmas.

I looked at the tire toy at Petco today and wondered how it would hold up. Good to know a PP has had good luck with it. :thumbsup2

I get my dogs the knotted rope toys. They destroy them in about four to six months, but those last a lot longer than rubber ones with squeakers in them. They tear them up in hours.

Try jeffers.com. Super cheap toys. Our lab likes the stuffed animal type toys that squeak. She rips them up and once the squeaker is gone, she's done. Those types of toys are $1-$3 so I don't feel so bad when she destroys them quickly and she loves it so much.

Try Mighty Dog toys...they have a scale of "toughness" our lab has a bunch of "7s" that he can't destroy. They can be bought at mydogtoy dot com or at some pet stores.

My dog is a little miniature dachshund, she weights all of 10 lbs. She tears up her toys so fast or she use to. Stuffing everywhere, squeaker out. Well one day I found a toy that had no stuffing, 3x stronger than any other toy, and it has a squeaker. The brand is called Dogzilla Splatz. She has had one for 6 months, uses it every day and has not gotten that squeaker out or has been able to tear it up. I just bought her a new one for Christmas. It's the only toy I will now buy for her.

my chix eats everything we give her too.... (but she's great about not touching other things) I like cheap knotted rope toys, you can also take lengths of fleece twist and knot it over and over for great disposable toys,I've heard of old 2 liter soda bottles and milk jugs for big dogs to toss around too...since everything gets tossed anyway, why buy stuff from the store?
BTW,I thought mine was the only dog that ate her cute little fancy dog bed....:rotfl2: again, cheap fleece fabric folded up works, easy to wash/dry,and throw out later!

The Kong is the only thing my dog can't destroy. The black one is made to last longer than the red one. They can be costly, but they last forever!
