Our 11 pound/13 year old Yorkie, Chewie, has a problem with her tooth. The problem just started this afternoon as she was fine in the morning. But when I returned from shopping, I was petting her and reached over to kiss her side of face area and she yipped and pulled away. It was a battle to check out what was the problem - I didn't know if she had been stung by an insect, or what had happened. Every time I tried to look at her face area she would pull away and run and hide. Finally, I got a look at her mouth and there is blood on the gum line around her long canine tooth and it is loose. I called the vet and they said as long as she is eating and drinking and no other problems to drop her off early Monday morning (they are closed Easter Sunday) and they will check it out, take the blood tests that they do prior to surgery and pull the tooth if necessary. I have no idea how this happened. Maybe it is an abcess? I hope waiting until Monday is the right thing to do.
