Dog friendly in cabins

No, the same rules apply to the cabins as do other WDW Resorts. You can bring your dog and board him at the Fort Kennel and visit and walk him.

No, sorry ,no pets allowed in the cabins or even in the cabin loops. You can kennel your dog at FW (at least for now - the kennels will be moving in the not-too-distant future) and visit there (there's a field adjacent where you can play with your dog on leash), but you cannot bring your dog back to your cabin.

I have to wonder if Disney realizes the amount of money it walks away from by not letting people in a camping situation, camp with their pets in the cabins.
I would gladly leave a $1000.00 "refundable" damage deposit to be able to use the cabins with my dog.
And I bet there are plenty of others willing to do the same, make the rules say,... no noise, no dogs left uncrated while no one is in the cabins, crated during house keeping hours, etc.
If I have the ability to put down that deposit they should have no problem with taking it if I leave something damaged in any way.
That is my rant for the day on the cabins.

We had a dog until last August and felt the same way about motels when we did some short excursions. We did find out from a friend who owns a motel that part of the issue is allergies..You can't completey remove the "pet dander" in carpets and furniture with a routine cleaning and he was advised to have a "no pet" policy. I know some hotel/motels restrict pets to smoking rooms only for that same reason.

Well then,... it must be time for some pet loop cabins, we have pet loops for when I bring my motorhome, why not some pet friendly cabins as well.
There seems to more then enough empty cabins every time I have been there.
I am sure that there would be a waiting list as long as your arm for reservations for pet friendly cabins.

Good idea! Send them an "E" mail or letter..As I said on another post I got a response(phone call and letter) from the executive offices after an "E" mail about some problems this summer.

As a long time hotel GM, I would hate pets in the rooms (not talking about service pets, of course!)

Disney knows what they are doing. While a good majority of pet owners will be responsible, there are enough that won't be..

They will have pets trash the room, run without a leash, bite another guest (a huge liability to the hotel).. It is just not worth it to Disney to put up with the risks vs rewards.

Again, I know a good chunk of people are not like that (I am an avid dog owner) but there are enough out there that makes it very unattractive to Disney to try it.

While I will agree there are more than enough morons to ruin things, I also think a lot of people will think about what is right and wrong when it starts hurting their wallets,"hence the hefty deposit".
And dogs in hotels is nothing new, in fact about the only Hilton that doesn't allow dogs is that one on hotel plaza blvd near downtown Disney, while not as nice as some hotels, its not a dump .
And if you really want to get your wallet out the Four Seasons also allows pets.
That being said, those cabins as nice as they are, are not like staying at the Four Seasons, :woohoo: granted it costs almost as much, but still.
If a 5 star hotel can find a way, Disney and their cabins could also, find a way.

It's funny that you bring this up because I enjoy having my best friend with me. Recently we were looking for a Pet Friendly Cabin in the Gatlinburg & Piegon Forge area and most of the ones that took pet were crazy about finding a dog hair here or there. Not very pet friendly in my opinion. Those that were resonable where booked solid! I think there is a demand for pet friendly cabins at FW!

I'm not saying this to be flamed... so if you feel the urge to flame me, please don't..... just looking at the other side, I would NOT stay in a pet friendly cabin and purposely choose rentals that do not allow pets or smoking. As long as there are options to keep cabins "non-pet" then I think it could work. Now before you think I'm a dog hater... I'm not. I love my dog very much, have had dogs all my life, I just feel if I'm going to travel with my dog it should be in my own RV.... or I don't travel with my dog. I don't like going into a room that smells like a dog or has hair or even fleas (yes...we rented a pet friendly room once) especially when they aren't from my own dog.

While I love my dog... not everyone else does. :thumbsup2

I am not anti-pet either, but I agree with the present no dogs policy, or the creation of a few "dog cabins." My wife's family rented a beach house that allowed dogs, and it had been fumigated (for fleas I presume) before our arrival. The house had a "dog smell" which was tolerable, but the chemical smell was awful. I guess that the owners/rental agency felt it necessary to take such action, but the first couple of days were extremely unpleasant, and possibly not too healthy.
