Does your trip start when you leave home or when you arrive?

But we don't really get that true vacation feeling until we're pulling out of the driveway. We travel so well together that even the travel phase really is part of our vacation.

I agree, I think it's almost an adrenaline rush when were leaving! I must be how I'm able to drive straight through on our was there. :sunny:

Mine begins when I leave the plant.

Mine starts the night before I leave to get on the plane. I can't sleep i'm so excited and worried that I might have forgotten something :rotfl2:

Agree :thumbsup2 I usually end up self medicating with Benadryl to get a couple hours of sleep because we're up for the airport at 3:30a.

just like the Disney commercial with the kid

"I'm too excited to sleep"

That commercial is awesome! My DW says the same thing, "the adults feel the same way the kids do!". :rotfl:

My vacation starts the moment I leave work, even though we don't head to the airport until the next day!

Our vacation starts when we wake up on the morning we leave. I'll be off work that day. We drive down, and the drive is part of the fun. We love to see the changing geography. Sometimes we get off the interstate to see some of the scenery. We play games, and sing. Even though DD is 8 she will still probably sleep part of the trip.

Are you kidding me? I have knots in my stomach already and we have 39 days to go!!!! Yesterday was a special day- I received my luggage tags and DME instructions in the mail- thanks Disney.. I guess the reality really hits me the morning of our takeoff to the airport.

Hey lustergirl, looks like we'll be in Disney at the same time. What resort will you be staying at?

Our trip usually starts when we get in the car to drive to the airport. This time (6 days baby... 6 DAYS!!), it will start the day before 'cause we are a Grand Gathering and the whole group is staying over our house the night before to catch the plane together!

We've stretched it out to the day before 'cause we have some first-timers in the group who need substantial brainwashing and indoctrination, so we have matching tie died t-shirts, WDW name tags, lanyards and pins, and some other Disneyana (Princess rubber bracelets, Incredibles sunglasses, and the like). Let the party begin! :cool1:

This has all the makings of another 'Home Alone' movie! :rotfl2:

We tend to go to Disney in March. We live in Vermont so there's usually snow here that time of year. We like to make our vacation last as long as we can, so the night before we go to Disney we stay at a hotel near the airport, just so we can start our vacation early!! We choose to make the plane ride as fun as we can, and we consider that part of the fun too!

We always go End of April/Beginning of May. Our vacation starts as soon as we get up to go to the airport!

Wow....you're family sound exactly like our family. We live an hour and a half from the airport we fly out of. (Baltimore) We head to the airport the day day before, and when we get there we go to Aurndel Mills Mall eat at the food court and then do a little window shopping, and then head back to the hotel to swim at the indoor pool a little and then off to bed. We catch the hotel shuttle bus at 4:30am as we have to be at the airport two hours ahead and the flight leaves at 6:50am. So we start vacation as so as we pull out of the driveway.

More when we head out the door. We drive, so we don't have the extra stress of making it to the airport, etc. We are about 3 hours south of the World.

In fact, I would say it starts more the night before. We relax, eat well. Adults have an adult beverage or two, while loading the car.

For us, the vacation has sort of started..with making the plans and booking rooms. It just gets better with each little step...making flight arrangements..making ADRs...scheduling DME.. and of course, everyday, several times a day reading the DISboards.

Whoever said vacation becomes a hobby put it very well..It very much consumes my thinking on a daily basis.

We havent been to WDW since 1998 and then it was only one day. Before that it was 1987.. so, this will be a first for our family as it is. First time on a plane for the kids.. my first time on plane since 1987..our honeymoon..First time ever staying in the park. Very excited..

We will be leaving the night before our flights to stay near the airport. We fly out early AM..630..so vacation will start once the kids get home from school and we get the car packed and drive to the hotel. We should be in a park by 1PM that day.. Yay!!!

In my head, it starts the day I book. Since I love to plan, the whole planning portion (schedule, ADRs, etc.) is part of the vacation. I made a countdown calendar for the kids this time, so that keeps us all excited!
