Does your child take piano lessons through the summer?

No summer lessons for us. My son's been taking lessons for about 5 years. The first year we just assumed the lessons were year-round and were surprised when in June the teacher said, "See you in September". My son said, "Bonus!". He was hapy, lol.

And, it hasn't hurt him at all. He is about to take his final level exams at the convervatory.

He still practices on his own though, he doesn't totally ignore the piano over the summer. Just no formal lessons.

We're approaching our 1st summer with our piano teacher. Both he and we have busy summer schedules. We agreed that when summer hits that we'll look at the calendar together and will pick a couple of days each month (instead of weekly lessons) for lessons. The lessons won't be dropped completely during the summer, but the the schedule will be more loose than it is during the school year.

Dd takes violin lessons, and for the most part, we do lessons over the summer. Her tutor plays with various symphonies, so sometimes she's out of town.

I like the continuity and it gives my dd something to work on.

No dd doesn't take piano lesson in the summer. The teacher offers it but its not mandatory. She is going to take guitar lessons through the summer though, she just started in January and thought it would be a good idea.

Summer music lessons continue here, but they are voluntary. If you opt out, your timeslot for the fall is not guaranteed, but they would still have openings. Our music studio's summer rates are greatly discounted, to what amounts to "pay for July, get all of August for free". So we will probably continue, then if we have to miss a few lessons here and there, no biggie.
