Or do they not mind them. Does your baby even watch them? Just wondering about your baby's reaction during fireworks.:confused3

As a child I was terrified of fireworks, my mom tells stories about having to high tail it out of Disneyland before the fireworks started. I vaguely remember being afraid of them (this lasted 'til I was about 5 or 6). My older dd's were never were afraid of fireworks though I can't recall how little they were when they were first exposed. Our littlest one (3 1/2 months) does startle with loud noises and sometimes is frightened enough to cry. I just hope she'll be ok with fireworks when we go next week.

My DS when he was really little, and up to not to long ago, he didn't like them at all. We would have to leave the area of MK. Now that he is 7 he hasn't had any problems. The first time he was ok with them was when was
5. He now really likes them.:goodvibes

Hi! My 2 yr old freaked out:scared1:when the fireworks started the last time we were there. This time we are bringing earplugs for the 2 yr old we have now.I think its the fact that the fireworks are so loud that startles them so hopefully earplugs will help.:thumbsup2

I remember a mother at the California Grill who chose to stand next to my chair with her baby and spend the entire show trying to cajole the baby into looking at the fireworks (he preferred to play with a toy car.) So if you go somewhere the baby can't hear the fireworks it's entirely possible he or she won't pay any attention.

My daughter was six months old for her first fireworks - she slept through them. She's never been afraid of fireworks at all.

My niece, on the other hand, was terrified of them until she was 5-6.

Every child is different and there's really no way to tell except when it happens. Both my DSs loved the fireworks...the louder the better! DD on the other hand, was terrified! We had to take her out of the movie theater during previews because they were too loud for her! During the fireworks, I would take her into the shops away from the main fireworks area and she was okay with the far off noise. She did grow out of it eventually;)

Where I live we have a big fireworks display every June and I always, always go. Plus, we've been lighting fireworks annually at my house for a while. My son was pretty scared of fireworks when he was little though.

As a baby, it wasn't bad...he was about 6 months old and it didn't really bother him and he mostly enjoyed them.

At 18 months he was very nervous but OK as long as we held him in our laps.

At 2.5 yrs, he was more nervous and would watch from inside the house at home and hidden in our laps for the big display.

At 3.5, he still watched inside the house and we watched the big one from much farther away and he was fine.

At 4.5, he was still inside the house. For the big display, when the first one was lit, he turned tail and RAN!! After a few steps, he looked back and none of us had budged an inch (poor kid!) and he sheepishly came back and crawled in my lap. He was scared but fine and I held him and let him hide his face and covered his ears for him.

Since he was 6/7, he's LOVED fireworks and gets right into it all. So yes, he was scared as a tike but it didn't stop us - I still continued to bring him out, gave him lots of reassurances and cuddles and he would survive each round.

My DD was asleep.... BANG! BANG! BANG! and awake... and then asleep again.
Didn't bother her at all!
Pretty much the same thing during 4th of July fireworks at 18 months. She was asleep and I swear to you the house was shaking.

Now, mind you, a scared child is different from a hysterical child. If he had been hysterical, we would have taken him home or done things a lot differently.

Our oldest daughter was petrified of them. On 4th of July we used to put earphones on her to hide the noise. She still doesn't like them and she's 36! :lmao:

All three of my kids don't really like loud noises. When we went in November we went to our car, parked at the Poly, had dinner, then watched the fireworks from the beach. You could still hear the fireworks but they weren't super loud. Our baby fell asleep in the stroller before they started and didn't wake up until we got back to the car. Our other two kids had no problems at all. They sat in the sand, clapped and "oh"ed and "aw"ed for them. :)

Plus when the fireworks were over we got into our car and drove back to our hotel. We didn't have to fight with people to get back to the TTC. My DH said that we'll be watching the fireworks there again.
