So it's been a week since we closed, but hey I figure I'll call MS just to see if we are in the system, maybe just maybe I thought. Getting anxious to make a ressie, anyway MS says to me we are not in yet but what is the seller's name? So I give it to her and she says yep still listed under the seller's name. Even had the right point total.

My question is, how the heck could that be? We closed right? Does this mean the seller can do what they want with the points? Do sellers even know that they still have those points? It would seem after Disney let's you thru ROFR they put the points on hold or something.

Just thought it was odd.

I had checked with MS about two weeks after my close and I was in there. It does sound like alot of closings lately so maybe the paperwork is taking a few extra days. I know its hard hold on, I'll send pixie dust your way. :wizard: :wizard:

Interesting question, but I don't think there's anything to worry about. Once Disney is aware a contract is going through the ROFR process, they cancel any existing reservations the seller might have. (that's why some listings say they can't close until after a certain date--a trip is planned and they want to take it first). I'm surprised they asked you the name though; usually they just want the contract number. Hope you get in the system soon, and welcome home! :earsboy:

The way I understood it is that Disney cancels existing reservations after closing papers have been signed and $$ paid. They do nothing to the contract after the contract goes through ROFR because the deal can still fall through. Once they get the information that the deal has been completed they will put all the pts in holding and cancel any reservations.

Disney is aware the contract is in the process of being sold however and does see the contract obviously. But if they waive their right, they just sit tight until closing.

So yes I do find it a little strange that they still had the pts if you have already closed. Those pts should be put in holding. Maybe they were but they are still in "holding status" under the sellers name as a place holder if you know what I mean. So the seller doesn't actually have them and can't use them, while they wait to change it over to your name.

My guess is it's just a time lag of a few days (or weeks) between when closing takes place and the Disney computer folks get the paperwork directing them to change the account over into your name.

If I recall, when we bought our current house, it took the local County about a month to process the paperwork after we closed. :confused3

Yes, this is probrably what it is, I didn't ask if they were in hold status, I just said "oh" kinda in surprised mode and said well I'll call next week.

Never heard of anyone having a problem, just though it was odd.

Thanks for all the replies/opinions.
