I just got off the phone with MS and I am not sure that I recieved correct information. Tell me if this sounds right to you.

We have a 1 BR at BCV from Sept 22-29. We have booked the DDP. My mother wants to join us from Sept 22-26. (Yes we will all legally fit :) ) I called MS to see if they could split the stay so DM could be on the reservation for the days that she is there. She doesn't care about the dining plan, but we need to have access to Stormalong Bay. BTW we are not trying to usurp the dining plan rules. We would have gladly put DM on the DDP for the days she was there. MS told me that since she doesn't care about the dining plan to check-in, pay for our family's dining plan, and then when DM gets there, just to go to the front desk and add her to the room for the days she is there. Then we don't have to worry about the dining plan at all. :confused3 I know that this is what MS told me to do, but it just doesn't sound right.

What do you think? Will we encounter trouble at check-in?

I dont think MS can split your ressie without re-booking you. To re-book they will need to cancel and find availability at BCV for your dates. You would need 2 reservation #'s to do what you asked, and I fear it is too late for that.

They can add your DM onto your reservation now, but you would pay for her DDP from the day you check in whether you use it or not. Everyone on the ressie on the day of checkin has to pay for the DDP.

Once you have checked in, as long as you are not over occupancy, the front desk will be able to add your DM to the room. To do as MS suggests, really depends on the front desk. They may see the DDP on your ressie and require you pay for your DM from checkin or they could let it slide.

The only sure thing to do at this point without question, is to add your DM now and pay for her credits or not do the DDP at all.

MS didnt give you wrong information, it should not be a problem to add your DM, but the final say is left with the Front Desk and if they want to challenge it, they can. Most likely they will not.

I know I have read both on the official Disney site and here time and time again that everyone in the room needs to have the same package blah, blah, blah. I am usually quiet about it but years ago when we stayed at CS before I knew much about Disney (definitely did not know about discounts) the kids and I each had AP, DH did not. I made DH a reservation for a full package with tickets and food. (This was before you needed a room card for the late hours, back then it was a seperate Eticket that you paid extra for). Any way when we checked in DH just asked for an extra key and they gave it to him. We just stayed in his room. He was the only one with a package but as I said things were alot different then (I think it was in 2002).
My understanding now is that you would need to add her to the entire stay and pay for the DP for the entire time.

I read something similar in another thread. A grandfather joining a family for the last day at a resort (not DVC). They called the resort directly and they said the same thing. He could just be added to the room (paying extra adult fee) for the last two nights and get a key.

I was at SSR in March and my inlaws card key clearly stated 3 adults (there were only 2 in their room). I was very concerned because I thought they might have paid for an extra DDP. The front desk just said, oh we accidently added one persons name twice but didn't charge for the DDP. I was a little surprised. I guess they rules are not quite as strict as they make you think.

thanks for the input, I guess we will keep it as is and hope for the best!
