does this seem odd? Magic Band issue

I can see why you would feel unsettled thinking some strange person could have entered your room but like OP said, I don't think there is any way they could know which room number it belonged to. Don't let OP make you feel bad for asking a question or being curious. I don't think you were looking to "punish" anyone. Just curious that's all.

Thank you, I appreciate it. Yes, I really don't see a way that anyone but staff could have done it. I'm going to check my MDE once the kids go to bed to see if that band was reactivated, also out of curiosity.

And you're right, I was simply wondering if this was something usually done without notice. Not upset or even finding it odd enough to warrant a trip to the front desk.

I left a purse at the Beach Club this trip too (like mother like daughter I guess) and got a phone call within the hour that they had found it and I would have to come get it (which I did, Where they then realized they shipped it to Poly) so I thought the phone call was the norm when a lost item was found from that experience.

For the record I AM very grateful that Disney goes above and beyond to return lost items and that I got my purse back, and can see how someone that doesn't travel with multiple back up bands would be relieved (although after 3 days I'm guessing most people would have purchased a new one). I'm sorry that apparently being a bit unsettled by an unexpected, unknown person in our room made it seem that I was not.

I was traveling with my 16 year old, her friend, and my 12 year old. The friend's magic band fell off on the way to the bus stop at POR. It was turned in to the cm at the check in desk. She called our room to let us know that it had been found. We had to go to the desk to get it back. No one entered our room.

Since the magic band doesn't have the room number on it- only someone who looked up the room number would have been able to return it to your room- I mean I can't believe some random guest would find a magic band and then just try it on doors until it opened and leave it there. Therefore a CM found it- the front desk checked it and found the room it belonged to and returned it.

Yes, I completely understand this. At no time did I mention that I thought it was anyone but an unknown CM, I still found it odd ;-)

I just checked in MDE and the band was still deactivated and marked as "lost", as soon as I checked the "found" box it reactivated. I'm guessing it was either a glitch that the door was able to be opened with the deactivated band, or room key isn't a function that can be deactivated.

This was the exact way my lost purse was handled (other than the fact that they transferred it to my new hotel without a second phone call so I made an unnecessary trip to BC).

Not odd, and I am sure the resort has access to your room without using her magic band. The band was found and the resort had it delivered to your room. Excellent guest service. A slider missing, again not odd. Could have fallen off during transport. Could have been removed prior to being turned in by someone other than finder.
If they reactivated for you, again not odd but excellent guest service

I used to be a hotel Night Manager (not at Disney World). My work day started between 4pm and 5pm. I used to enter occupied guest rooms during the evening hours on a regular basis. There are any number of valid reasons why a hotel staff member who isn't Housekeeping might enter a room. The number one reason would be to deliver something (like in this case).

So, from that perspective, nothing odd happened here.

Did you check the room phone for a message? They could have called and because you're not there, they said they'd send it to the room for you? :)

Indeed. It could be a housekeeper, a housekeeping supervisor, a resort CM, or repairs (plumbing, electric, etc.) among others. We had a very odd sound in our plumbing at AKL a few years back. Things seem to work, but the sounds were loud and odd. I went down to the front desk, reported it, a repairman was up quickly. He determined it likely wasn't our room, and I heard him loudly knock and then enter next door. He confirmed there were plumbing issues in that room, and called others workers in. Whatever they did worked, the odd noises stopped.

Yes, I didn't think that they actually used her band to open the door, only that even after being deactivated, when we tried the door it was still able to be opened with her band. We didn't have an issue with that, just surprised it still worked.

The luggage tags you get with a package? I'm actually shocked that the resort had them.

Hotel staff can enter a room. For this purpose, if you had the Do Not Disturb sign on they likely wouldn't have come in.
It was last year when the luggage tags were sent out to match your chosen magic band color. We went the first week in October. Which was shortly after they were released.
