does this seem odd? Magic Band issue

So, I just wanted to see what people thought because tonight I was just left with a bit of an odd feeling.

After Pirates and Pals last Wednesday my DD realized her magic band was missing, she remembered that she had placed it on the sink at the CR bathroom while she was changing into a pirate shirt. No biggie, we deactivated it and she wore a spare. Fast forward to tonight when we get back to Poly around 9pm from Disney Springs (left around 4pm). Her Magic Band is sitting on our bed. It still had her AP slider, but someone had removed her R2D2 from it.

It just seemed so odd. There were no phone calls or messages from the front desk. Just a little note to say it was found and brought to our room would have been nice. We were just a little weirded out that someone was in our room outside of mousekeeping times. No one was upset, but we were just wondering if this is routine if something like a magic band is found.

And even though I swear I deactivated it, it still works to open our door. Maybe deactivating only does charging and park tickets? Who knows, I'm really just curious.

Haha!

That's what we told my DD, then she cried that it couldn't be magical because someone had stolen her R2D2.

Have you tried it for anything other than the door?

My guess is it was completely reactivated by Disney before put in your room.:)

Last year we stayed at POR. We never received our luggage tags in the mail. I wen't to the front desk to ask about those after a long day in the parks. Since we were told they would be given upon check in. The person at the desk seemed confused. She left for about 10 minutes. She then brought enough old luggage tags from the year before to satisfy a family of 5. It was just my husband and myself. I took those not wanting to argue with her at this point. When we got to our room 10 minutes later the bands we should have received at check in were on our table. I agree it did creep me out for a minute or two. But I also got what they had originally promised me.

We didn't, this was about 10pm, and we checked out by 6am the next day.

I'm glad no one else finds this odd. I guess my DH's paranoia of an unknown person in our room when we weren't there and were unaware that they were coming had rubbed off on me. It definitely didn't sit well with him or the other party we were in a connecting room with, the "magic" of the situation was not felt by them.

Exactly! It was nice to have the band, but there were those few moments that made me think who was walking around our room. We even went out to the balcony and checked behind the shower curtain

Too late now, but a good way to get your questions answered would have been a visit to the front desk as soon as you discovered the band.

Had it bothered me enough that I needed a concrete answer I would have, this was more curiosity. I just didn't know if it was routine that Disney employees accessed your room outside of mousekeeping times, I am now aware that it is normal, thanks to this thread, so mission accomplished :)

Had it happened to me, I would have been delighted to have the magic band returned along with the AP slider. As for the R2D2, while unfortunate I would have figured it was lost anyway.

I guess it really is true: No good deed goes unpunished.

Ha! It's funny, somehow I knew by asking out of curiosity if CM's routinely entered unoccupied guest rooms unannounced I would get remarks just like this. Curiosity got the better of me, and I asked anyhow.

I'll just have to go about my day with my ungrateful, un-magical family ;-)

I'd be a little creeped out. I'm pretty sure it was resort staff (maid or front desk) that returned the key to the room as it's unlikely anyone picking up a band would've figured out the room it goes to (if any at all).

A note going along with the band describing that it was found would've been very nice.

The bigger concern to me is that the band worked on your door even after deactivating it (I'd check MDE again and see if it was reactivated but I'm guessing the hotel key services aren't tied into that aspect of the MDE and the room key functions are separate)

I don't think it's odd that hotel staff entered your room. Technically they do have the right to enter. I'm sure they checked to see when the last time the door was opened/closed AND most likely knocked prior to accessing the room, announcing who they were. It's great that the band was returned WITH the slider. Unfortunately it sounds like the person who found it took the R2D2 before returning it. I agree that they probably scanned the band to see who it belonged to and then returned it accordingly. It was probably reactivated thinking you might need it (not many folks have a spare on hand). I would definitely take the "magical" view on the situation.

The luggage tags you get with a package? I'm actually shocked that the resort had them.

Hotel staff can enter a room. For this purpose, if you had the Do Not Disturb sign on they likely wouldn't have come in.

I can see why you would feel unsettled thinking some strange person could have entered your room but like OP said, I don't think there is any way they could know which room number it belonged to. Don't let OP make you feel bad for asking a question or being curious. I don't think you were looking to "punish" anyone. Just curious that's all.
