Does the "Wave Pool" give you stress?

I, too am a veteran of the Jersey Shore, and I was amazed by the strength of the waves in the shallows of the TL wave pool. I was standing about knee-deep in the water, holding DD5's hand, to help her keep her feet. The wave hit and backed me up about 15 feet. it swept DD's feet out from underneath her, and had I not been holding her hand it would have rolled her right onto the shoreline. The problem with the pool is it's too crowded to stand anywhere in the water and expect to escape without some bruises. You have to swim out to the deep end to avoid being crushed by the wall of humanity being swept toward you.

I did not know you could use the tubes (aka 'noodles'). I think that's a great idea, except that maybe they would be annoying to people if you were accidentally slapping them in the head with them! Maybe I'll cutting noodles in half and get my DD (8yo) to use it - that way it would not be so cumbersome as to bother someone else. The boys would NEVER use one!

No, not noodles; those ARE banned. What I'm referring to is the large round "innertubes" that the waterparks provide for use in the wave pool; they are about 3 ft. in diameter, and have grip handles. (Same as you use in the lazy rivers, but a different color, if memory serves.) Someone sitting in the center of that doughnut can easily end up carried by a wave into sitting on a child's head. Also, if they drift into shallower water and flip, you can end up hitting that rough bottom pretty hard. Naturally, kids love trying to flip one another out of them.

Proper lifejackets are fine for anyone who is not a strong swimmer.
