Does the early bird get the worm?

We won't be arriving to the CBR until after 7pm this November. Last time we arrived early so I wasn't too concerned. This time we had to take a later flight.

Has anyone else arrived late and still been given a good room/building location (especially at CBR)?

My experience when I check in late. Dec 2000, checked in at CBR at 11:30pm. Everything was pretty booked. The lady gave us Jamaica, our request was not granted. June 2003, checked in at CBR in the morning, we were put in Martinique, corner room, very close to the food court and the pool, our request was granted.

I notice that when we usually check in early, most of our request if not all of them are granted. And when we check in late, most of what we request are not granted.

I guess if we are coming down late in the afternoon or evening, we would probably just stay off-site near the airport. But I guess this will no longer be an issue with us, we're moving there in July!

Our experience is that when you arrive late, you get what is left over. We usually get a say in what we want when we are early. The only time that we have ever been upgraded was when we were early. Last year, we were going to get in late so we did like Fantasia said. We got a room off-site and then went to get our on-site room early the next morning and got a great view. You might want to try that.

Thanks for your input! I'm looking into hotels off-site right now.
What about just requesting a room change the next morning? Can we do this if we don't stay off-site?
