Just received this email this afternoon:

Great News!
We have finalized the transaction. Disney has been notified of the change of ownership. Please allow Disney 7-14 business days to complete the change of ownership. Disney will provide you a welcome letter within 30 days by regular mail. Your owner’s policy, recorded deed and refund check for $50.00 will go out by regular mail within 5-7 business days.

Does it really take up to 30 days to get the welcome letter? So I won't be able to make any reservations until I get the letter? I'm praying I can get in under the 7 month window!

I waited 2 weeks then called DVC and was able to get my membership number by phone, at that time they helped me set up my online member account. The letter showed up about 5 days later

Thank you! I will try that!

I received the same email..can't wait to start booking trips. I'm also looking to add on a small direct contract so wonder if they would be willing to do that sooner.

Thank you! I will try that!
If it helps, I told the DVC CM that I was looking to plan my fall trip and wanted to get my membership set up before all the Beach Club rooms were gone. They were happy to help me, and I now have my first Beach Club reservation for November. They were very helpful.

Did you buy direct? Very willing to help when you do, but if buying resale not so much.

No, we bought resale, honestly the people that I spoke to never gave any indication that they couldnt help me. First time I called the CM told me that my points were not yet transfered and that she would put my file at the top of the pile to be done and that I should call back in a few days, it turns out that by the end of that day they had transferred them. I called back 2 days later and it had already been done. At that point I was able to get my number and set up the online access.

IMO MS doesn't really care about where you bought, it's management and DVD that doesn't like resale. MS will do what they can but they are under orders to follow policy that is set by management.

We bought resale. I have to agree with management & DVD not liking resale. I called a few weeks ago to inquire about how much it costs to add on a 25 point direct contract for AKV, and apparently they still had all my info in the system from when we owned our two previous direct contracts that we sold three years ago. I was put through to a guide, and he immediately went into his pitch, asking me if we've been to WDW before, etc. I stopped him right away to tell him we were former long time owners, and that I was in the midst of purchasing a resale, but was inquiring about a small direct add on. His tune immediately changed, and he became very snarky. He said, very sarcastically, "oh, you just want to add on for the perks". I wanted to tell him he could shove his perks where the sun doesn't shine, but I said, no, I'm also interested in finding out about Copper Creek. Then he says he'll mail me the info. I know that if I do buy anything direct through Disney, I will not be using him as my guide. What a butthead.

I am wondering if one were to call and ask about buying 24 one-time use points and "letting" them sell me on 25 points for an add on, whether that would make a difference?

MS sells the OTU points, your guide sells the contracts, different people, different groups.

Do you ever get anything other than the letter? We closed in mid March and I got the letter a couple of weeks later, but I thought I'm supposed to get a packet with a membership card and activation code (to be able to create an account online). I thought I read that somewhere... or maybe I'm just making that up! Any help would be appreciated!

Well, I just made my first phone call to Member Services yesterday to see how they would react to my asking for my membership number. I knew it was too soon most likely for everything to be converted to their system, as the deed was recorded last Thursday, the 13th. It was sort of a practice phone call, lol. I figured I'll try again tomorrow, as it will be a full five business days since the deed was recorded. I spoke to a CM named Tiffany. I started out asking her how her day was going, and generally spoke in my sweetest, nicest voice. I told her I was trying to set up my online account, and could she hopefully help me. She asked my last & first name, then asked if we recently purchased. Then she wanted to know if it was a resale. When I said yes, it was, at that point she told me I'll get a letter in about 30 days with my membership info, and that I have to wait for that. I said okay, thank you for your help, and hung up. I didn't press it further, as I knew I was calling too soon, but I'm writing down the names of who I speak to each time I call, so I'll know if an unhelpful person answers again, lol! So, what do I say when I get that answer, you have to wait until you receive the letter? My 7 month window is coming up in about 10 days!

Did you call Member Services or Member Administration? Just curious. I am on the same wait as you are.

When we bought our first contract a couple of years ago the letter said we'd get an activation code in the mail - which is not, apparently, true. If I'd waited on the mail I'd still be waiting!!! If you have your membership number call member services to set up your account.
If you bought resale I don't think you'll get a physical membership card.

I'm about a week behind you, @TeresaNJ , so following with interest. Luckily my earliest booking is for Feb 2018, so hopefully low season + still in 7-11 mos = will find what we need at an acceptable points level.

I tried calling today because I'm waiting for a membership number for a contract that has points expiring on June 1 of this year. Funny thing though, even if you hit 2 to get Member Administration, it seems that the options after that all kick you back to Member Services. For those of you who spoke directly with Member Administration, how did you get there?

Haven't tried yet since I am only into the wait 1 week, but this is what is listed on the DVC website. It also lists a link for email, but you have to login for that.

To contact Membership Administration, please call (800) 800-9800, and select option 2†.

I had to be transferred too administration by an agent after selecting membership administration from the automated menu, there appears to be two different sectors of administration :s
