We are staying at Por and have met a lot of people throughout our stay. Most have been stayin at csr or cbr. Everyone I met had the same suggestion that Disney needs another mod. I thought it WS interesting enough of a question that I would post it!

Yes!! They need another moderate resort that will fit 5 people.. I mean 5 adults! ..same price as the other moderates.

I really do not think that they "need" another one. It is always fun when a new one opens but in the long run the cost is picked up by us and Disney is already getting to expensive to go yearly:(

why from a business standpoint would they do that:confused3 Even the new AOA suites that can hold more are not priced the same as a room at Pop that holds 4.

That makes no sense.

WDW is a business and they are going to price things accordingly, and they are not (or should not) build any type of hotel unless they are consisently sold out of the ones they currently have. Or if they find that parties of 5 or more are choosing different locales over them, but they still need to price it accorrdingly...that is business 101.

If Disney needed another resort, they wouldn't almost constantly offer discounts for the ones they have.

The ONLY new resorts we are gonna' be getting at WDW are Value or DVC in my opinion.

No, I think the four (five, if you count FW) they have are adequate for moderate resorts.

I'd rather see them invest in keeping the resorts they have in great condition, on programming for the resorts (continuing afternoon pool games, movies, etc.), and transportation costs for resort guests.

I also would rather see them invest in keeping up the current properties, but I wouldn't be against another moderate. That being said, I would rather see another moderate over yet another DVC property - but I doubt that will ever happen.

I just wish the current resorts they have were nicer, more updated/upscale. We are coming in November and I am really struggling whether to stay onsite to get the EMH or stay at a new more modern resort offsite. I really want to stay onsite but I struggle if I walked into a room and it was tired, worn and outdated that I keep reading about I would be sooo dissapointed. I was considering the Swan or Dolphin too since they are a Westin/Sheraton but have read negative threads on those resorts too.

For all of you that have stayed multiple times onsite, is this wrong info?? We are also staying onsite for our Universal days but wanted to be close to the Disney parks on our Disney days (mainly Epcot and DHS, and probably MK too).

Swan/Dolphin fan here! You can find posts/threads with negative comments about every WDW resort. If you need Disney theming at your resort, then the Swan/Dolphin aren't for you. If you want a lovely resort in the middle of the action with the best beds on property - then give the Swan and Dolphin a try.

We're huge fans of POFQ, just Reno'd last fall, POR just fin updates fall / spring.

POFQ hadn't felt old/outdated in our precious stays, we love the new look, kids love the pool & slide, awesome boat ride to DTD, the delicious beignets, compact resort size, quiet, relaxing, Bldg 5 facing the grass courtyard is our fav spot! Just feels like home! :)

Totally agree with NancyIL about reading negative reviews. You WILL find negative reviews on EVERY single Disney resort out there. And if you look offsite, you WILL find negative reviews on EVERY single offsite hotel.

Why take the advice of someone you've never met on what YOUR standards are? I'm staying at the All Star Sports starting tomorrow and I can find lots of negative reviews about it but I chose the place because I'm tired of Pop Century (which also has negative reviews). I know the room probably won't be the best room for a value but I'm on vacation and unless something falls down on my head in the middle of the night, I don't care. I don't need all the fancy stuff - maybe you do but I don't. So I would tell you to stay onsite and you might be disappointed. Point is - I don't know your standards. No one does except you.

I do not think another Moderate resort is needed given the current amount of rooms available on Disney property.

Value 10,308

Moderate 7,492

Deluxe 5,998

DVC/Villas 3,908

In addition there are 800 Campsites at FW and soon to be 147 Villas at GF

I totally agree instead of building more they need to concentrate on maintaining the current ones

While they don't NEED it necessarily, I would LIKE one. There's only 4 mods (5 if you count FW) while values have 5 and deluxes have 8ish? Just thinking quick here. We always opt to stay at a mod because its the right setting for us - keeps out of values and away from groups of families, but doesn't stretch our budget as much as a deluxe would. I've stayed at POR twice now and am trying CSR next year. I don't care for POFQ or CBR. So unforunately I don't get excited about our resort anymore :confused3

I would stay at moderates more often if they hadn't become so expensive with time. When I was a kid, we could stay at a moderate (CBR), but that's because they were the "value" resorts of the time. With the new Value resorts, the price of a Moderate is high for what you get, IMHO. If we are going to pay that amount, we will stay at Swan/Dolphin with a teacher rate (although AAA rate is somewhat decent as well). It may not be super Disneyfied, but the location and amenities are a much better deal than a moderate.

Even though there are more deluxe resorts, there are more moderate rooms to be had.:)

You cannot design a resort with all the rooms for 5 adults at a standard design with two beds, one bathroom and one door. 5 adults in an entire resort cannot safely evacuate in one corridor without going to large suites.

As an architect, this cannot be done.

Also, to the OP, you can wish all you want, but it can no longer be a moderate if you accommodate larger parties. Then it becomes a deluxe, with larger spaces, more exits, and larger corridors to accommodate adults, not a combo of kids ans adults.

You. Can ask the question 60 days to Sunday, but it is still the same. Design of a hotel/resort falls to the mass market and any other party size does not make money for the stockholders. This is not a Motel 6.

I was hoping that AoA was going to be a Mod. The size would have equalled POFQ which people seem to really like because it is smaller.

But - the suites won out. I just think they are very expensive! These are Value Suites - at $350 for Regular Season? Wow! Two rooms at Pop will sleep 8 for the same (or less) money. No pull out furniture to deal with.

I'm surprised that there are so MANY suites! Half Value rooms, half suites would have been a better choice.
