Does Disney even send out PINs anymore?

Just curious has anyone received a PIN lately. We received one a few years ago for free dining for our June trip. We are planning on going back next June, so would love some pixie dust.

We received 3 from 2008 to 2012 but we have not had one since so I thought maybe they stopped sending them out. Our last trip was in 2013. Our next trip is in 2016 I would love to get another

I only received one, I think I it was in May and it was via e-mail , but the travel dates did not work for us (and we were already booked for this summer). For years I wondered why we never got one as we have been there 5 times in the past 8 years. It seems there is no logical rhyme or reason who gets them and who doesn't.

My DH gets them regularly. I often wonder if they will stop when/if we ever use one of them. They always send him good ones when there is no possible way we can use it.

I received 1 shortly before my trip in May. Good one Disney, tricking me into returning.:thumbsup2 I got a post card and several emails until I finally broke down and booked a new trip. (Read: convinced SO to go twice in one year) The discount I received wasn't much beyond what the regular discounts at the time, but I did have fewer black out dates.

We get one just about every month. Depending on what discounts are going on. I think I just go one two weeks ago. I also fill out the Disney Vacation DVD about every three months. Just got one in the mail yesterday.

I got 3-4 this year but availability was horrible. Mostly club level.

My 80 year old mother (who can't travel at all anymore) gets at least 3 a year!!! She lives in my house but since I use my married name...I can't even use them....how frustrating is that!?!?

We received several in December last year. I don't know if it is related, but we originally had a trip booked for January that we had to cancel in November. On a related note, when I searched our email to see when we received them, I saw an offer from 2009 for $59/$89/$139 per night for value/moderate/deluxe. Wish I could get that one again!

The only pins I've received have been for the exact same general public discount that's already been available for a few days, but they send it to me in an email code with an "exclusive" just for me offer in the title. I have yet to get one ahead of the GP offer being released or even a better offer than the ones for the GP :(

Disney has started trying to disguise their general public offers as "special offers". Those offers are usually just a 4 digit alpha/numeric code. The PIN codes (and I think they now call them Unique Offer Codes) are about 12 digits long and usually resemble the general public offer but have a few "perks" -- like no resorts are excluded or they add free park-hoping.

I usually receive 2 or 3 PIN/UOC's a year. I got one last November that was the same as the general public offer but included more resorts than what the general offer did. And I got one this past April/May that was the same discount as the summer offer but with longer dates (started 2 weeks earlier than the general public offer) and included free park hoppers on our tickets. We were actually able to use the one we received in April/May. We were also able to use a free dining PIN for our trip in 2011. Most of the time we don't have a trip planned when I get them.

I get them every couple of months. We stayed 9 days last year and 6 the year before and I have no idea how we get them but I am glad we do. They are called UOC at least the ones we get are called that.

I got one about a year ago in August or September. The offer wasn't the greatest over what the general public get, but it saved about $200. I think it tends to be triggered by browsing their website, ordering a vacation DVD, and/or ordering the free personalizing park maps (a hidden perk that's always fun to do).

This is my situation except mom is 73! Although this year mom was taking the trip with us in Dec and we could have used the pin that came by mail in June (40% off deluxe, 30% off mod and %20 off value I think), we decided to stick to our reservation at the Dolphin and use SPG points instead.

I don't think there's any rhyme or reason as to who receives them. I've done all the things you mentioned multiple times every year, plus pricing out packages on their website, and have never received one despite my best efforts.

FYI, they no longer offer the personalized maps.

Hmm. I think I read the tip on Mousesavers and followed it up and ended up getting the UOC, but like you said it's a mysterious process. That's a shame about the personalized maps. Those were always fun to receive.

I used to get them all the time. But not anymore. We haven't even been receiving the advance notice of promotions for the Disney Visa Cardholders.
