My Dad never cooked anything, he has sadly passed away now.

He always helped dry up the dishes and put them away, but cooking was not for him.

If Mum and I were going out for the day shopping, she would always leave him a cold snack for lunch, everything was there for him, he just had to boil the water to make the tea.

Very different from my husband, who is a great cook. :)

When I was in HS my mom worked and my dad was at home for about two years, maybe less. He would cook often. He did really good with pasta, fish, steak. He had a few specialty dishes.

Now if only I can get my DH to cook ... :cool1:

My dad worked 6 days a week, but occasionally, on a Sunday, he would make something special, like cream of cauliflower or cream of mushroom soup from scratch. They were both incredible. I don't think I've had either in 20 years, but can still almost taste them, they were so good.

My dad was an AWESOME cook! That's where I got my culinary talents from (if I do say so myself). Don't get me mom, my mom cooks very well, but my dad was the 'chef'.

He makes baked beans. That's all I can think of.

My father never cooked, washed a dish, did laundry, ironed his clothes, or did anything at all domestic until he retired. He only started doing the grocery shopping then because he complained that DM was spending too much, so she told him to go ahead and do better.

DM worked full time for as long as I can remember, and as soon as I was about 10 or 11, I had to take over the dishes, laundry, cleaning, and starting dinner.

My Dad is a great cook and baker. My two favorite hand me downs from him are his Chicken N' Dumplings recipe and his Cinnamon Bread. YUM.

Mom is also a GREAT baker. Her cookies and pies are the highlight of my holiday visits.

My dad used to own a restaurant/bar in Maine before he and my mom got married.

My mom was the main cook but my dad was incredible.

He made the best molasses cookies, fudge, baked beans, chicken so flavorful and moist it didn't matter if he cooked it on the stove,in the stove or on the grill.

He also shared his love of country cooking with us--fried fatback, fried bologna, everything was cooking in butter, with butter or covering in it after.

Nope...never saw that in the 18 years I lived there nor the 27 years since:lmao:

Growing up we ate out about 5 out of the 7 days a week for dinner. My dad grilled that was his cooking my mom did the rest of the cooking when we did eat at home.

Yup. My Dad mostly cooked breakfast, but would pitch in whenever my Mom needed him. All the men in my family do/did. My brother makes the best Tiramisu I've ever had.

DH, otoh, none of the men in that family knew how to boil water. My MIL believed in hovering over her boys. Which came as a total shock when we got married. I quickly set him straight that we weren't going to be having that in our marriage, and over the years he has become a better cook than I am. :) I'm crafty that way. :p

My Dad would only cook if Mom was out for some reason; then it was pancakes for dinner.

no he couldnt cook. He would screw up Moms recipes, add this or that to her cooking. Of course it ended up tasting like butt then.

My mom worked a lot and dad didn't. He did cook for me, usually burnt bacon and overly browned toast. He did his best. He and mom have since divorced, so Dad has lived on his own for about 15 years. Whenever we visit him, he cooks for us, and I have to say his cooking is much improved!

My dad made great Spaghetti. But that was about it.

My Dad worked 3 jobs when we we were growing up. On Sunday he would show my Mom how to make some Chech/Hungarian dishes. We had chicken paprikas, stuffed cabbage, policinka (crepes).
When my Mom got sick with early onset Alzheimers at the age of 66, he did all the cooking. We were all out of the house by then. My Mom was sick 13 years, in a nursing home for the last 3 1/2. At the end of my Dad's life, he used to put stew or soup on the stove and forget about it. My brother moved in so that he wouldn't be alone. My Dad was an organic gardner so we always had fresh vegetables in season....He made the best stews and soups. He loved to cook when he had the time.

My Dad was the Grill Master.

He could cook anything on his BBQ Pitt. Steak, burgers, hot dogs (which he called gourmet winers), fish, chicken. Well you get the picture. I don't have any memories of him ever cooking in the kitchen though.

My mom cooks during the week and my dad cooks on the weekends. :)

My dad worked a lot, and Mom was a SAHM. Dad cooked steak and french fries, hamburgers, hot dogs. One of my very favorite memories of childhood was sitting around the kitchen table on Saturday afternoons - the 4 of us kids with Dad, playing crazy eights or old maid and eating the grilled cheese sandwiches and drinking coke floats that he made especially for us:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

My Dad is a great cook - however we didn't think so as kids! Mom would cook things WE liked, Dad cooked the way he liked it. I remember how we would freak because he made "eggs with things in it" - meaning he put onions, peppers, cheese, etc. in scrambled eggs. We were horrified.

My cousins (who are now in their 50's) can still laugh there heads off about the time my Dad babysat them when he was a young man and made "salmon chouder".
