I was talking to a friend of mine (we both have 2 yr olds, hers slightly older) about easter baskets. She mentioned that there will be no candy in hers. DH & I have some chocolates along w/other items for our 2 yr old. So I was just wondering what people normally do. I mean, we don't give our DD candy on an hourly, or daily basis, but when its holiday time, and we have some chocolates, we let her have some.

Yes we put SOME in our DD3 and DD5's baskets... Maybe like one chocolate bunny each and some peeps. However, we like to fill it up with short and t-shirt sets, one DVD each, puzzles, some toys and such....

Not really. My kids each get a sucker but that is it in the way of candy. Neither one of them really eat candy and they really dislike chocolate. Go figure :confused3

The easter bunny puts very litle candy in my DD's (3) basket. She gets a small hollow bunny and some jelly beans. There are small chocolate eggs too but those are really for me;)
This year the easter bunny is bringing her some nice Disney things ( Cinderella bathing suit, princess cover up, Ariel sunscreen, princess carry on bag, and an Ariel bubble blower: see the theme I've got going here:) )We even found a princess egg coloring kit! I think we've now gone overboard with the princesses!!princess: princess:

When my kids were that age they got age appropriate candy. I think they probably got some small toys too, I can't remember. Now they just get candy. We all like candy here so we all eat it.

Yes, we put a little bit of candy in each of the kids' baskets. DD2 will get a chocolate bunny this year. DD also got candy from an egg hunt last weekend and will have candy from our family egg hunt this coming weekend.

DS4 will be getting a chocolate bunny and some gummy frogs for candy in his basket.

My now 6 1/2 yo DD has always gotten some candy in her Easter Basket. As a 2 yo she got a few jelly beans or a chocolate egg in those plastic eggs. In total she got maybe 6-8 eggs with candy. I remember that year the Easter Bunny also brought her a plastic wheelbarrow and some gardening tools. She actually had more fun playing with the eggs than caring much about what was inside them.

When DD was almost 2, there was no candy in her basket that year, because we didn't give her any candy yet at that age. The following year, when she was about to turn 3, she got a small chocolate bunny and some toys. Definitely no jelly beans at that age - they are a choking hazard for kids under 4 and one of the worst things for little (and big!) teeth. DD pretty much prefers chocolate nowadays, but gets some variety in her basket, also.

:sunny:

They get other things but what is an Easter basket without at least a chocolate bunny? My DS is very picky and doesn't like very much candy(only eats about 3 kinds) only likes Hershey choc so he will get a hershey bunny and a bag of hershey foil eggs, His sister will get the same but Dove. No one likes jelly beans, and I'll probably put in some peeps for fun then throw most of them out in 2 weeks. Candy is always available, they can get it whenever they want, but my kids just don't eat it, I finally threw out the rest of the Halloween candy at Valentine's day. They both got some at 2.

No, the kids (4 and 9) still don't get candy. They get enough crap at school! I can't believe the amount of candy kids bring for their birthdays, for holidays, etc. It's enough to last us year round!

If you don't like to eat the Peeps, instead of throwing them away, put them in the microwave (on a paperplate) and what what happens to them. They get all blobby and it is great fun!

My daughter is 2 and the only candy that will be in her basket is a Snickers egg that she saw in the store and really wanted me to buy. I got it, then it got melted in the car (cause she just had to hold it) so I put it in the fridge, she forgot about it, so now it will go in her basket. She doesn't routinely eat candy so I'd rather not buy much for her basket then have it lying around after Easter where she'll see it and want to eat more.

Oh, and I should add that this pregnancy has given me an aversion to sweets so I have no desire to see candy so that is affecting my decison too!

We put some candy in the baskets. Last year when DS was 2 he got some Peeps and some M&Ms. He is not a huge fan of chocolate and M&Ms are about the only real 'candy' that he likes and even then after he eats 8-10 of them he has had enough. He does like the Peeps though. :) He only gets them this time of year so I don't see any harm.

I used to include some candy along with books and other things in her Easter basket and there is always candy in the plastic eggs that they find for.

We have a strange bunny that visits our neck of the woods. He hides the eggs outside in the trees and grass, etc. But he doesnt leave much candy (a few eggs with hershey kisses) Oh NO, this odd bunny leaves eggs filled with underware, change, stickers, socks, plastic jewelry and little toys.

You should see the look on peoples faces when DD told them the bunny brought her underware when she was younger! Its a warped tradition that my mother in law started and it just continues on. Except she is growing and that underware is getting harder to fit in eggs!

And she doesnt get an easter basket per say, she gets a toy instead. This year it is the My Little Pony hair braider thing she keeps getting all excited about on tv. And my Mom always gets her a Veggie Tale Dvd.

One of the best years was when she was 3 and the easter bunny left a hot pink bunny pinata for her with more socks, underware, pencils, etc. She had a heck of a time breaking that thing open, but she still talks about it.

I put cookies, snack cakes, pudding and little toys in my son's basket. I didn't want to start him on candy that young. Both Grandmoms snuck him candy later on. Now he really loves candy.

my daughter loves candy! She would eat it all day if I let her. Her favorites are M&M's and lolipops. So yes the Easter bunny will give her candy. not a ton but enough. She is also getting Underwear, socks, cinderella pj's, a few little toys and some coloring stuff.....

Did anyone else get fruit from the easter bunny. When I was little our bunny would give us oranges, juice boxes, peeps, jelly beans and cadbury eggs plus a book.....i always loved the book!
