I found a decent rate thru Continental airlines since Southwest has crazy prices from Tucson to Orlando. It's $25 more per person that Southwest probably will be if I wait for a ding but it might be worth it if they have an inflight movie. Does anyone know?

We flew Continental years ago and I thought we got the movie but I can't exactly remember. Also, can you use your own headphones or do you have to pay the $5 to use theirs?

TIA,
Kelly

We just flew Continental from Newark to Orlando. On the flight down, no movie, just four comedy shows (2 1/2 Men, Stacked, Everybody Loves Raymond & another I can't remember). Did NOT have to pay for ear phones. On the flight home, (we got bumped to first class BTW - Woo Hoo), we were delayed once we boarded the plane. The started a movie (I think it was called Last Holiday), while we were on the ground, stopp when we took off, started up again once in the air, then they played the same comedy shows. Again head phones were free.

Thanks for the responses. Still haven't decided whether to book Southwest and hope for drops in price or dings OR go with Continental and just be happy we got our airfare booked and possibly an inflight movie.

On Continental Airlines, as on other legacy carriers, you get movies on some flights, TV programs on some flights, and no audio or video on some flights. It all depends on the type of aircraft and the length of the the flight.

These days you usually only get movies on international flights, at least if you are flying in coach.

I fly USAirways a lot from PIT to either PHX or LAX, there's always a movie in coach. It was funny yesterday at lunch, my friends were talking about recent movies and I had seen 3 of them on flights!

On American Airlines flights, movies are shown in both classes of service on longer domestic flights — not just on international flights.

If I fly from Chicago to Florida, there's only repackaged TV programming. But if I fly from Chicago to the West Coast, there's also a movie. American Airlines seats have standard stereo mini-jacks, just like the ones on Walkman players and iPods. If you bring your own headphones or earbuds, the audio and video entertainment is free. American sells earbuds onboard for $2, which are yours to keep for future flights.

American does not offer audio or video on American Eagle flights (smaller aircraft, such as Regional Jets) or Boeing MD-80 ("Super 80") aircraft.

Look up your airline and aircraft type at http://www.SeatGuru.com/ — it won't tell you if there's a movie, but it will tell you what kind of audio and video (if any) are offered on the aircraft, and where the screens are located.

We flew continental from ewr to mco and we had no movie or tv , it was an early flight however. On our flight home to ewr we were able to watch T.V ,but no movie, and this was a later flight 7:40. :thumbsup2

I wouldn't expect a movie on an east coast flight. They don't show movies on flights under 3 or 4 hours.
