I made a ressie here, but some people in our party can't do spicy foods too well. Will they still find some foods to eat? Or should I try something different?

No, this is a common misconception about Boma. The foods are not highly spiced and there are many "mainstream" type foods there. There is also a nice selection of kid-friendly foods on the buffet such as chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, fries, etc.

By spicy - do you mean hot? I found most items to be very mild. Boma has a great variety, give it a try. :)

My mom doesn't do anything spicy, but she loved it. We are planning on going back in December. They should be fine and find plenty of things to eat.

I was just there last Thurs. evening, I didn't eat anything that was spicy, as in hot. I would describe a number of their dishes as well spiced, in that they had some nice, sometimes unexpected (but yummy) flavors.

Boma's food is not spicey at all. Now, you can make it spicey if you want by adding some of the special sauces that they sometimes offer you.

Other than that it is just very nice meats, salads and desserts.

Enjoy!

We found the food at Boma very bland. The only highly seasoned food was some roasted potatoes.

It's not nearly as authentic as when it first opened but some of the 'spice' rumors remain ... but sadly (especially since the DDP) it's very mainstream these days.

I agree about this misconception. People use herbs to cook, as well as
spices. Think of Boma as flavorful food, not spicy hot food. :)

The two times I have been the menu was similar. Not spicy hot, but spiced. Unfortunately for me a lot of curry and coconut in the flavors (both I don't care for at all). There are some very bland stuff there too as well.

No, Boma doesn't have the spicy hot African food like in Ethiopian restaurants. It's more North African/Mediterranean style with stuff like couscous and hummus and roasted meats.

Funny, I didn't notice either of those flavors both nights we went for dinner. Depends on the menu rotation, I guess. :confused3
