I've noticed that when walking down the street on a bright sunny day, you can tell if a woman is wearing granny panties, a thong or nothing at all under their skirt/dress. :scared1:

I do but I'm guessing a lot of women don't since they're getting more difficult to find in the store nowadays.

I'm starting to wonder... do these women not realize we can see their underwear, or is that the point? Just like a colorful bra strap?

Which reminds me... one of Jeff Foxworthy's "you might be a redneck" quotes is "if you wear a dress that's strapless with a bra that isn't...". And I'm seeing that all the time now.

I do. I feel naked without it......like......well.....like you can see through my dress/skirt. :scared1:

Modesty has definitely become extinct. When did showing off your butt cheeks become no big deal? In a bathing suit, OK, but at the mall or the grocery store? And of course, I have the kids who loudly like to point out "I can see that girl's butt!" :lmao:

I never wear slips. I hate them with a passion. DD18 on the other hand has a back half slip, a white half slip, a white full short slip, and a nude full slip. I think they are making a come-back.

See this is what I don't get and I used to fight with my mother all the time. At the beach it all hangs out even in a one piece with a skirt. So if you wore a bathing suit bottom under a skirt would it be okay to go without a slip? Does it depend on what the manufacturer calls the product? Not being snarky but have always tried to understand this thinking. You see panties under slacks all the time......not getting the logic behind this.

No.

My skirts or dresses usually have a nice silky lining. I don't wear anything that is sheer.

Don't even start!

At my DS's college graduation this past spring we saw WAY more of the girls there than any of us wanted to! Some of the girls had on cute dresses, but they were for the most part too short, too low, ill-fitting and NONE of the undergarments that were needed were worn.

We were sitting on the floor (in chairs) next to the stairs that went up to the bleachers, and boy did we get flashed numerous times by the girls going up the stairs :scared1::scared1:

And light colored dresses with colored undies! My DH felt bad for a girl because he thought she had sat in something, then realized it was her undies showing through. How are they gloing to get a job if they think that is how to dress???
I honestly felt bad for them after realizing it was about 99% of them dressed that way, and not just one or two that didn't know any better.

This reminds me of when I was working - one day one of the girls had on light colored pants and "day of the week" undies. My boss asked one of the women to tell her "today is NOT Friday!". :lmao:

I am wearing one right now! :thumbsup2

I agree pat fan about the lack of modesty in dressing for "dressy" events. I *HATE* having to watch the girls pull their strapless dress of constantly pull down one that is skin tight...happens all the time with HS & college girls.

Maybe I just work with an older crowd, but there is no way most of the dresses girls could wear this stuff to work. Just because you can fit in does not mean that it fits. :upsidedow

If I do see a girl wearing a slip, you can bet she doesn't have a dress on over it. :rotfl:

I wear a slip...and I've taught my daughter to wear a slip. It's just not that big of a deal and who wants to advertise their underwear?

That depends. Are you wearing your skirt to the beach or pool? Then feel free to wear a bathing suit bottom under it and let everything show. But if you wouldn't wear a bathing suit to a particular place or event, why is it okay to wear something that shows as much as a bathing suit?

You see panties under slacks all the time......

You're not supposed to.

Dh used to have to send people home from the office for stuff like this all the time. They would wear thin, white pants with bright green thongs--or NO underwear at all :scared1::scared1::scared1:. He would just walk up to them and pretty much tell them they had a choice, either go home and change into appropriate clothing or leave and don't come back....

At the dentist office on Monday, woman, probably close to 60 walks in with light tan capri's and black underwear. Do you NOT look in a mirror or at least KNOW that your underwear is showing through???

A lot of teen girls wear the thin white shorts and no undies or thongs--not a good look, especially if you have dark hair and bend over :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Now I feel like I am in the same discussion with my mother:rotfl: See the skin and parts are the same so it is not like you are immodest if light shows through your ankle length dress when you are standing in front of a window (i am not talking bout thongs and strapless) you still cannot see ANYTHING. I do not wear sheer or remotely sheer clothing but if the light is right you might see light through say a linen dress.

The bra strap thing drives me INSANE but I have given up because society has spoken...it's NORMAL to see the bra straps everywhere now & apparently no one gives a hoot. I would have been mortified growing up if my bra straps were showing like that but I have seen just as many adult women wearing shirts with the straps showing (and not even colorful ones, just regular every day bra ones) like it's nothing just as the teens do.

I can't convince my DD to wear slip to save her life, she just doesn't get that it's for modesty and exactly FOR when you are walking in light. She looks at the dress and thinks "you can't see anything" -- well no, you can't just standing there but as soon as you go out in sunlight.

Her reaction to the bra strap is "so what if they know I'm wearing a bra" basically. DRIVES me nuts, she just thinks I'm old fashioned.

Okay, you're talking about a silhouette. I'm talking about being able to see someone in ANY light and say "Oh, look, you're wearing yellow underwear."

I wear a slip & pantyhose which seem to be dying as well. I feel naked without them.
