Does anyone use cash anymore ?

:thumbsup2

I have not seen anyone use cash in years. I must be in that 20% and not know anyone in the other 80%.

What I mean is 20% of people are cards only,10% are cash only with the other 70% using both cash and cards, those 70% however could use cards 70%-80% of the time though,so yes card usage is greater than cash, but believe me that cash is still used in probably 1/3 or more of transactions.

I would use the gift-card first, then the VISA. Save the cash for tips and extra's (of course, you can always save the cash to pay the VISA later ;) )

I always use cash when I'm traveling. I just find it easier to keep track of my money that way.

I usually don't do cash, but we got some out for the trip. Part of it went to tips. It was a good way to keep track and when we were low, that was it. Also, we split it in half so when it was my turn to pay for a tip, I'd usually sneak in a dollar or two more than what my DH suggested we leave.

Good grief. I use cash. A lot. Guess people think I'm a stripper.

Me too.

I don't even have a credit card. All I have is my bank card.
Me and credit cards don't mix well.

I almost never use cash, and I can't recall ever using cash for anything at Disney. Cash can be lost or stolen too easily to use it at Disney when you can just charge to the room.

We use it on vacation and sometimes at home.... mostly if we have a craving for fast food of if we pay for something under $20. I am not a stripper.

Day to day? No, but while traveling, I stick with cash or Visa gift cards as much as possible. It's a pain in the rear, but ever since my last WDW trip when I came home to find someone had treated themselves to $1k worth of plastic clothing at a store I'd never shop at, I try to keep my credit card out of travel as much as possible.

Cash only here. We budget xx per day, the rest stays in the safe. Usually have DDP so only need tips and an extra snack maybe. Dont use credit anywhere, and no charging on the magic bands, too easy to overspend.

I will always use the magic band to pay for everything. I like getting cash back rewards. I give the kids gift cards for their souvenirs. I carry some cash
For the tips or other random things.
In my daily life I pay with rewards cards for everything. I use for gas and grocery rewards and utility rewards. All double and triple rewards.
Bank of America will soon have Chip for credit cards and later in year for debit cards.

We use cash slit day to day... On vacation we use cash always. Prevents overspending - you can't spend with $ you don't have
:-)

When we travelled to WDW several years ago and were on the dining plan, we payed all of our tips in cash. At the end of the week we had three separate instances where the server added a tip to our meal and charged it to our room (so essentially they got a double tip). I had all of the receipts with cash written in the tip space. Disney refunded the $ back to my CC. Now I charge everything back to the room. I pay off they bill before the end of the week with rewards points.

The only thing I ever use cash for at home is to buy coffee otherwise everything goes on my Disney CC which I pay in full each month.

This is a good point, I didnt even to consider.. We usually are on the Free Dining plan and at first I would always pay cash tip, thinking it was a benefit for the server.. then on our second trip I just added to the room. I liked the itemized room charges.. As a hobby I like to take a look at all additional costs to dining and get a bottom line. So chargiing to room, keeps all costs in one place.

Our disney trips, we usually bring 1000 cash. Family of 4, one week. We come from far away and I have experienced enough times in my life where I have not been able to charge or get cash, ( card not working, bank cancelling card for fraud suspicions, what if power goes out??). More a secure feeling as in the end CASH will get you a hote, gas or home in an emergency.

What we do is put at check-in a couple hundred as payment on our room, we have a credit then. Then use MBs for every little thing. Also keeps money out of the room. When shopping we use the cards,, but have cash on hand as back-up.
