Does anyone take Nexium?

What are your thoughts? Does it help with bloating? Reflux? Burping? I just took my first one this morning and don't see much difference but of course its just the first one and I haven't eaten anything but a turkey sandwich today. Would love opinions on it though. I have a 2 week sample and then a prescription afterwards if I like it.

I take Nexium for GERD that causes queasiness and indigestion (no heartburn). Yes, it helps but it takes awhile to work. It could take several days. Also, if you take Nexium and you continue to eat "yucky" foods, you will still have those symptoms of belching and bloating. It really only helps with stomach acid.

I'm going to ask a really stupid question but what is indigestion....I always thought it was the same as heartburn.

Well, I never get heartburn, which is that hot/burning feeling in your chest. I only know what it is because I had it TERRIBLE when I was pregnant.

Anyway, after I eat, sometimes I will just feel too full, even if I eat a small quantity, and I might feel a little queasy. Then I start belching and sometimes the taste of my food (or even parts of my food) come back up. To me, that is indigestion--the lack of proper digestion.

Heartburn is a whole different feeling.

My dad takes it. It doesn't seem to help with belching.

I had GERD and was never even aware that I did until I was tested because my pulmonary doctor couldn't get my asthma under control. The acid would back up and get in my lungs and I never knew. I've had surgery for it.

Thanks Christine. I have that full feeling badly as well and sometimes the burning but the burning has never been that bad so maybe I do have more indigestion than heartburn. The full feeling is almost daily where as the burning may be once or twice a month.

That being said, I am overweight which doesn't help with the acid. As soon as we get back from Disney I'm re-joining Diet Center!!

I have GERD and started out with Nexium but it didn't work for me so I switched to Aciphex in the morning and Famotidine (prescrip. pepcid) at night.

I have had good luck with Nexium. It doesn't relieve the symptoms like Rolaids/Tums, but long-term it is good stuff :)

My boyfriend takes it and it has made a world of difference for him.. He would uncontrably burp extremely loud before and he hardly ever does anymore.. His stomach hurt all the time, indigestion was horrible all the time.. He hardly has any of it anymore..

I take Protonix for GERD. No feeling of fullness or burping, but terrible terrible heartburn and discomfort and other fun symptoms. So far, I can tell a difference & I have only been taking it for a week.

I have horrible acid reflux due to other gastro problems :sad2: and Nexium works fine for me (but does nothing for gas or bloating). If I forget a day, everything I eat turns into battery acid! I also take a Zantac before bed to cover that overnight time. "Over the counter" Simethicone tabs work for the bloating.

What are these? Where do I get them? Any bad effects?

It's just the generic ingredient in Gas X, Mylanta Gas, etc. I buy the store brand 125mg. tablets (chewable). All drugs stores have their own brand. No bad effects for me. You can use with any anti-acid meds.

Thanks eclectics I will buy some tomorrow, the bloating is driving me crazy!
