does anyone see a huge increase in price from this year to 2012 on the packages?

Ticket prices went up dramatically.

An adult 10 day base ticket was $243 in 2010, $262 in 2011, and $291 for 2012.

The child 10 day ticket had an even larger increase. $210 in 2010, $239 in 2011, and $272 for 2012 (up $62 in two years!!)

Mods increased $10 per night in 2011 and $5 weekdays and $10 for weekends in 2012 for value season. I don't know about the other seasons.

I must be off somewhere as I thought it was only $5 inc on Mods which is only like 3% and DDP up $3-4 pp. Where are the large increases you are taliking about

The price increases are greater on deluxes. We go for at least ten days so all those little increases times 4 people can really add up. I paid 1503 for ten day park hoppers with water parks and more. Its know 1677 thats a pretty big increase. I'm so glad I upgraded to annual passes while we were there.

Yes it prices out to be a lot more next year, but thats at rack rate. I would assume most of us got discounts on our trips this year. I know I got 30% off my room this past May.

That's true...without the room discount included, the difference from this year to next year is $264.58. It still seems like a big increase for only 4 nights.

When you factor in that they are going up on prices but giving you less on your ddp it's kind of irritating. If you're going to go up on everything, at least offer the same plans. We loved using those snack credits.....like someone on another forum said, why not have a F&W plan where you get a bunch of snacks a day LOL

We definitely will not be going to Disney for awhile after this trip:sad2:

I think Disney knows they cannot stop offering the big discounts everyone has come to love and expect.

I believe that instead of phasing those out, they are merely raising the baseline from which those discounts are figured. They are banking on people seeing the words "free dining" and ignoring the bottom line.

The rooms still have to be filled for Disney to remain profitable, so it will be interesting to see if they are right and people won't notice. Or if it will cost them bookings.

Absolutely correct. It is simply so much cheaper to stay off property.... The question becomes, how much of a premium are enough people willing to pay, to keep those resorts full?
For a while, return visitors might book onsite out of habit.... uneducated new visitors might book onsite because they haven't shopped around..
But over time... If prices onsite are 2-3 times as comparable off-site... more and more people will migrate off site.

For my travel dates in Feb 2012 -- I can pay over $500 per night in a Disney deluxe, or get a 2 bedroom suite at Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa, for $128 per night. I can stay at the Caribe Royale All-Suite Hotel for $175 per night. While I'm willing to pay a premium to stay onsite.... How much of a premium?

Good Gravy! With those price increases, I don't know if I can convince DH to go back. We have to go back next year otherwise we will be paying for another adult (DS will be 10) in 2013.

We're having the same problem here. And the adult dining at 10 just kills me, because most of the time she'll still want chicken nuggets or a hot dog!

Is it me or did they drop a meal from the deluxe plan. I thought it used to be 3 meals and 2 snacks. Maybe I wasn't paying attention.

I agree. My son turns 10 in November, and we are thinking our trip this Oct. will be our last one with dining plan. It makes me sad to not have that "all-inclusive" feel. We considered staying at Hilton Bonnet Creek for free on points this year, but by the time we figured what we'd spend in dining, it was the same price to stay at Riverside with everything. Next year we are planning on taking the more deluxe accomodations at Hilton Bonnet Creek and just paying OOP for dining. Hate to be "out of the bubble", but it's the difference in going or not :sad2:

Yeah those prices mean we're def. not going back till Fantasyland is completed entirely in 2013.

We're in the same boat. My kids eat like birds half of the time and it kills me to pay all of that money for adult ddp, on top of the adult ticket prices.:headache: I think DH is going to veto any plans to go to WDW anytime soon.:sad2:

This is true and probably the main reason why many were able to afford to take a trip to Disney.

IMO, economy is no better, not around here anyway. Pay cuts, increase health benefit payments for those still lucky enough to have health insurance, increased taxes, the list goes on.

And yet, Disney raised prices on tickets, DDP and rooms.

Many will now consider off site, we are , and no Dining plans, we are, and dare I say, another vacation destination, skipping our annual August Disney vacation.
