Back several years ago they use to serve Monte Cristo Sandwiches at Columbia Harbor House...I know you can't get them there anymore but does anyone know a place on property that does have them.....Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I remember them. When my Dad was alive, we always ate there. He loved their chowder, but had to have it in a bowl, with the breadbowl on the side. I sure do miss him, and think of him everytime I go to the Columbia Harbour House.

If you EVER eat offsite you could go to Bennigans because they have them on their menu. They are a particular treat-we always got them at DisneyLand at the restaurant inside Pirates of the Caribbean!

Although we never tried them, I do remember reading of them in the Official Guide years ago. I think they also used to be served at the Main Street spot, too...the restaurant that is now Tony's.

Anyway, there was a thread about this some time ago. Everyone seemed to agree that they were not served on property anymore. Sorry.

Bennigans.
Head to Downtown Disney, take Hotel Plaza Blvd to 535, make a right. Bennigans is about a mile down on the right.

Hi Ladybug-
The name of the sandwich sounded a bit familiar to me so I checked my Walt Disney World Cookbook and the recipe for the sandwich is in there on pg 54-55. My cookbook is Vol I and I purchased it a quite a while ago. It states that the sandwich was served at the Town Square Cafe on Main St and at the Verandah Rest at the WDW Shopping Village. It is served with currant jelly sauce, fruit compote and fried- I am pretty sure this is the sandwich of which you speak. I am reluctant to post the recipe because of copyright rules but you might try writing to WDW to see if they can get you a copy of the recipe from the book or maybe order a back copy of the book itself. I have Vols. I and II and it is listed in I only. Good Luck!

We sorely miss Columbia Harbor House's Monte Christo sandwiches, as well as the bread-bowl clam chowder. You can go to Bennigan's to get your fix, but I wouldn't recommend it: the sandwich Bennigan's serves is pretty greasy, moist, crusty, and repulsive. CHH's seemed healthier in comparison.

hmmmmmm. looks like you are just going to have to make a trip to DISNEYLAND! The Blue Bayou (as previously mentioned) is famous for their Monti Cristos!

I had one at Bennigan's near the Orlando airport a couple of years ago. That was my first visit to Bennigan's and the food was awesome. I had never seen a sandwich quite like that and I'm glad I ordered it.
