Does Anyone Recommend the Fantasmic Dinner Package

Is this a good deal? We are looking at Hollywood & Vine buffet and then the show. Is it worth it, is the view good from the reserved seats?

I think it depends on a couple of things:
1) would you have eaten at H & V if they didn't offer the Fant. pkg?
2) what time of the year are you going?
3) will you be using the DDP?

I think H & V is a pretty good buffet choice. I think the food choices are pretty good, without being too weird so your kids won't turn up their noses. However for table service in MGM, H & V would not be my first choice.

If you are going during a high season time, having seating through a dinner package is nice, b/c you can almost guarantee a decent seat. If it is a low season time, you can most likely find a great seat on your own w/out waiting too long.

If using DDP and have plenty of credits, you might as well use it for the pkg deal.
Good luck:thumbsup2

we always go to H & V for a dinner......whether we use the Fantasmic or not...it is a good buffet and everyone should be able to find something there to eat and like.....there is no difference in the food items or the cost....it is just a way of not having to go into the theater earlier then you need to......we go in about 45 minutes before it starts and we are satisfied......

Definitely worth it...you just walk into a different gate and go straight to your seat. :cool1: :cool1: Keeps you from wasting time holding your seat. Splurge...we love the Brown Derby...nothing like it! :smickey:

My boys and I have used the Fantasmic Dinner Package for Hollywood & Vine 3 times and love it. We are not buffet-phobic and have had 3 highly enjoyable meals there with good service.
The sons love it because it is all you can eat and the dessert bar is great for them. I like it for the cornbread pudding and large selection of items.
As far as the priority seating for Fantasmic goes; I don't enjoy having to arrive super early to stand and wait in line. The priority seating lets us get there early, get our seats and people watch/relax before the show. We've never regretted the view and love the show.
Enjoy!

We really thought it was worth it! We waited about 20 minutes for the show to start after we were seated. The seating is "reserved" not "preferred". We heard a few people complaining that they though the seating would be better...
One of the nicest things was that once we were seated in the reserved area,
we could get up and get snacks or use the restroom without fear of losing our seats. We were told on our previous trip (after having waited in line for 45 minutes to get our seats) that we could not leave them.

Up until about 5 minutes before showtime we thought we were in an almost empty section, but they let people fill in right at the end. We were a little disappointed until we reminded ourselves that we did not have to rush or wait in line for our seats.

We went to Fantasmic with and without the package and we prefer going with the package. We've done H&V and Mama Melrose and both were good but we prefer H&V and to do the Fantasmic. Seats are always great and no wait...just walk right in and sit...

I had the H&V fantasmic package booked for this past June, but went ahead and cancelled it (and Tony's Town Square) for Cali. Grill. IMO, it was worth it to me. We still went to Fantasmic, and had MUCH better seats than we would have had, had we done the package. Grant it, we waited in line for a little longer, but haveing the better seats and be able to pick a restaurant that was more suited for us was worth cancelling it.

(just a side note... when planning ADR's at MGM.... I ALWAYS have a hard time picking something. It seems like there are much better options elsewhere to me.)

Our family has done the FDP at H&V twice, both times in early August. We liked H&V fine, but didn't find it was necessary to do the FDP to have a seat. Both times we found seats were available as late as 15-20 minutes before the show started. We're not going to do the FDP again unless we go at a crazy time of year, like Christmas or Easter.

The seats are fine, you are seated in the side section but you have a clear view of all the action. The entire ampitheater is nicely designed. We do it all the time. I hate waiting in lines.
