Does anyone not care for any of the food at Disney?

Most of the CS is definitely nothing to write home about - there are few that I actually enjoy the food in. El Pirata Y El Perico is one I love, but if you don't enjoy tacos, probably not for you. Columbia Harbour House is also one of the better ones.

You might enjoy 50's Prime Time Cafe at DHS - pretty standard American food - pot roast, fried chicken, meatloaf, etc.

You might like Ohana at the Polynesian - lots of different kinds of meat on big skewers that they bring around. I haven't eaten it, but my boyfriend says the turkey is to die for and the wings and shrimp delicious. You might not like *all* the food, but maybe there'd be enough there that you do like and you can just avoid the seafood.

Maybe Trails End Buffet at Ft. Wilderness campground or Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge?

I'm mostly not a fan of standard American food, and as a vegetarian no steak, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken strips for me, so I can't think of any other helpful suggestions.

Wow, I can't imagine that at all! I am a VERY picky eater. So much so I drive DH nuts a lot of the time. :rotfl: DH eats just about anything. :rotfl: However, we both LOVE eating in Disney! We have so many favorites, we have to pick and choose each trip!

I can't believe I'm even posting this... but I've got my flame suit on. ;)

After talking with many others, and reading many posts here....I'm starting to think maybe we're the only ones.

We just plain did NOT like the food at Disney! We were there for 2 weeks and tried just about every counter service place there was. Also tried several TS meals. After being disappointed with those we cancelled the rest of them rather than continue to waste big bucks on food we didn't care for. We were there over 4th of July so we were paying a holiday surcharge on top of the regular prices per person!

I resorted to just ordering a kids meal and sharing with my youngest so I would have enough to sustain me... but didn't much care for anything I was eating. And I started buying big fruit cups and McDonalds fries.

We're going back for 2 weeks again this summer and am so looing forward to the trip... except for the food. We will have the option to fix a few things in our room... but in all honesty we're in the parks so much that we'll probably just end up eating there.

I agree. The food at best is average.

Nope.... I'm from a pretty big city actually. And we travel several times a year.

We are Vegas regulars and have no problem finding fabulous buffets there. Along with wonderful sit down restaurants.

It looks as though your only TS meals were buffets. There are many "steak and potato" options as far as TS restaurants go. I would not judge all TS based on a couple of buffets.

I don't particularly care for the quick service. It's just like food you could get at any theme park. Some are really good though(Wolfgang Puck for example) However, I've found the dining plan enables us to eat delicious cuisine we wouldn't otherwise be able to try. I don't understand how anyone couldn't find something they like. There is such a variety. I think it's a matter off researching the restaurants ahead of time. This really let me go to places with menus I'd knew I like. We only had one bad meal(Mama Melrose). I went everywhere from Chefs de France, Tutto Italia, Liberty Tree Tavern, Le Cellier, Boma, and Tusker House. I found all the food to excellent and like nothing I've ever eaten before.

ME ME ME ME--- In all my 20 + visits I have yet to have a meal I thought was wonderful and worth the price.... the WDW is waaaay overrated IMO!!!

If we go to AK we always do the Tusker House Character breakfast, it's so much fun and they have what I consider (IMO) a good buffet. We've never eaten there other than breakfast, the kids and the adults both love it but I don't know what they have for lunch & dinner.

We always try to fit in Le Cellier if at Epcot, the food is good, although perhaps a tad noisy.

Flying Fish is a favorite! As well as 50's Primetime, It's meat and potatoes, love the Pot Roast and Pot Pie but it's the ambiance that makes it special.

At OKW, Olivia's has really good hamburgers and turkey sandwiches.

I hope you have better luck on your next trip!

We enjoy dining at WDW. I think a lot of that enjoyment comes from knowing we are on vacation and at the happiest place on earth. The only "gourmet" meal we've had was at Cali Grill and we really enjoyed it. We also really like LeCellier. Plaza and Beaches & Cream are terrific, too. The only place we have enjoyed eating at DHS was at Mama Melrose. Chef Mickey's breakfast is significantly better than dinner. The ambiance there is what makes it a must do for us. CRT is overrated and overpriced. OP, I have to agree with previous posters in the fact that you can't judge all WDW restaurants based on CS and buffets. Buffets are OK but some of the food is downright yucky. Try some TS restaurants that aren't buffets and if you can splurge, try some Signature Dining restaurants.

My understanding is they changed the buns for hot dogs/hamburgers to wheat buns. I found them OK tasting but prefer regular buns. That could be why you didn't like them.

'Ohana for breakfast was very good. It's served family style which is a nice change of pace from a buffet at a character meal.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

We have never had problems with food at Disney and we just got back from our first trip to Vegas. It was given to me by my boss so a free trip I can't complain about. DH & I just did not get Vegas. Like some people do not get Disney, we do not get Vegas. We did eat at a great restaurant-Fin Chinese at the Mirage where we stayed and it was great. The food was good out there. It was just not the same and we were ready to be back "home" at Disney. The highlight of my trip was getting to hold a 6 ft Boa. DH does not like snakes so he stayed back & took the pic for me.:goodvibes I am now trying to talk him into letting me have one but don't think that is working. All in all, to each his own and that is where there are so many things in this world:thumbsup2

I could very well be wrong, but I'm gonna guest the thread starter is from very small town, USA. I know several disney servers, and I've been told many times, that small town folks are the ones who often complain about the food. They are just set in their small town ways, and not open to new ideas.

oh, now, let's not pick on small town folks!:rotfl: We're from a town of less than 200 and we've liked virtually every Disney restaurant we've tried (o.k., we didn't care for Boma...but everything else including Tangierine cafe! We love ethnic foods...except Boma:lmao: )

I know what you're getting at, but really that's a stereotype! I know just as many "big city" folks who won't eat ethnic/fish/rice and so on (including half of my relatives...all of whom live in various big cities.)

Yeah what catne said! I gew up in a town of 1,000 and the entire county is the only county in the state of Iowa that still does not have stoplights!:rotfl2: :scared1: I have come out of my shell and do try many different foods now that 15 years ago I wouldn't have touched!

My grandma is very small town. We're foodies and when she comes to visit, we'd love to take her out to some of our favorite restaurants. But she only wants Taco Bell and occasionally McDonald's. :confused3 Of course up until a few years ago it was a decent drive to the next town for her to get any fast food, so for her those are a big deal. I'm thinking she would really dislike the eats at WDW.

As for ME, I love WDW food. Is it BETTER than places I regularly eat at? Not really. But I still enjoy it and just the fact that it's WDW makes it better.

I cant believe the wait staff would say that. Im from a big city, top quality restaurants are everywhere. Disney doesn even compare. I cant believe someone from NYC would enjoy Disney food! CS is about as good as a local food court at the mall. TS is about as good as your neighborhood Applebees and Sign Dining is pretty good, but the price is ridiculous, seriously ridiculous.

Im using the deluxe dining plan the upcoming trip. Although I am getting a pretty good deal on the food ($70 per day for hundred dollar + meals), I will be tipping $20 +. IMO, the whole meal would cost not much more than $20 where I live......but I wont get into that here!

I agree. Pickiness is a function of personal taste and attitude, not geography. My brother lives in the city; his idea of adventurous dining is Chili's instead of Applebees or Taco Bell instead of McDonalds. We live in a small town with no real dining to speak of, but my son's favorite food is sushi.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that didn't love the Disney food. ;)

But I see that I need to try some different places this next trip! :thumbsup2 Can't thank all of you enough for all the great suggestions!

Wow..well that is why you didn't enjoy the food.

This was my exact reaction. The OP's list of places they ate read like a list of places I actively avoid! Sounds like bad luck, mostly. ANd now you're getting some great suggestions on where to try next time!

It's too bad you're so picky! I grew up picky, so I relate, but am thrilled that I have widened my food horizons so much, because it makes eating such a pleasure! Like a treasure hunt! Sampling this and that to find a new gem!

I would have to agree with the choices of restaurants you chose - we avoid most of those places too! Chef Mickey's really is not that good at all. We don't care for CS either as we eat 2 -3 TS meals per day, and this varies because sometimes we eat at a Signature restaurant. There are a few counter service places that we will eat at: Wolfgang Puck, Earl of Sandwich, Cosmic Rays and Tangerine Cafe - that's it! We do not eat fast food at all, so we love our TS restaurants for the most part, but there a few that we won't eat at due to bad food or service. Our favs are: Marrakesh, Kona Cafe, Citricos, Yachtsmen and Cali Grill.

You need to try some better restaurants on your next trip, but seeing as how you are picky, you might have the same problem? I would definitely check out All Ears for some menu choices and maybe by your next trip, you'll have a more open mind and list of better restaurant choices in mind.

Good luck and happy eating, Tiger

I'll just chirp in and agree that the OP didn't try any good TS restaurants. In fact, hardly any TS spots at all. To collectively paint the food at Disney as bad after those poor choices isn't terribly fair--or accurate.
Picky eaters will always have a hard time finding restaurants they like, so I'm not going to offer any suggestions.
