In the Vacation Planner 2005-2006, Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas is listed as one of the hotels DVCers can book with points. However, when I called MS, they said that it was no longer available but could not tell me why.
Does anyone here know why it is no longer part of the DVC program?
Actually it never quite made it onto the list. Atlantis was supposed to be added starting in 2005. DVC even went so far as to send out a special mailing in mid-2004 mentioning Atlantis and two other new additions.
But, by the beginning of the year DVC announced that Atlantis wasn't going to make it after all. I don't remember the particulars (someone else probably does), but I believe it was passed-off as some failing on Atlantis' part.
At the time, this was postedon teh member website,
"Earlier this year we were pleased to announce the addition of four premier properties to the Disney Vacation Club Concierge Collection: The Fairmont San Francisco; Hotel Del Coronado, San Diego; Mandarin Oriental Washington, D.C.; and Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas.
We had fully expected that Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas, would become part of the Concierge Collection. Unfortunately, Atlantis is unable to fulfill their obligations to allow Members to stay at their resort. We regret any inconvenience that this may have caused you."
I heard something about Atlantis not having enough availability for DVC members to get rooms.
Diane...
Are you mixing up Atlantis (the hotel) which was to be in the concierge collection, with Harborside at Atlantis (the timeshare adjacent to Atlantis)?
