I tried looking on Disneyland.com but could not find when it goes down for the Christmas overlay. Last visit it was down and I think the same thing is going to happen this trip even though we are going 2 weeks earlier. TIA

Last year was kind of out of whack because IASW had been closed all year for the refurbishment. I could be wrong, but I think it goes down in the very beginning of November, because it would likely have to open back up in Holiday Overlay form on November 20th (that's should be the official start of the DLR holiday season, and unless they decide to not do IASW Holiday this year, thet should be the date it opens). So they would need at least 2-1/2weeks to install the overlay. However, to be honest, I was wondering if IASW Holiday is indeed going up in 2009 at all because of the new Americana scene and Disney character additions that are debuting this month. I wonder if DLR might want to showcase the new stuff all year and skip the overlay because the overlay would totally obliterate the new additions.

There is a similar question about whether or not DLR will put up the Haunted Mansion Holiday Overlay this year because of the 40th anniversary of the original HM. IF - and we don't know for sure yet - they do NOT put in the HMH overlay this year, then I would think they WOULD definitely do IASW Holiday, because skipping both seems a bit extreme. But again, there's lots of new stuff being added to IASW, which will be hard to see if the holiday stuff goes up. So this year is a mystery so far where the holiday overlays are concerned!

Ok, thank you. If they do put it up we will miss it as we arrive 11/1. Oh well, I hope we do get to see it though because we will have our little one with us and we haven't gotten to experience Disneyland's IASW yet.

I checked the MousePlanet weekly updates, and here are some previous dates that IASW was down (being refurbed) to install the Holiday overlay:

Oct 20 to Nov 7, 2003

Oct 18 to Nov 4, 2004

Oct 24 to Nov 10, 2005

Oct 23 to Nov 9, 2006

Oct 22 to Nov 8, 2007

And like Sherry wrote above, IASW was down from Jan to Nov 2008 for a major refurb.

Thanks, that does help! I thought it was down last time because of the overlay but now know they were doing work (it was a last minute trip with not much time to plan!)
