I tried to book online for this weekend but it's too late to do it online.
Also, do you think that at this time of year, if we just "show up" we will get a room?

i believe the values are 99 a night now...uhh i wouldnt chance just showing up...their are alot of us going from the boards and it is the beginning of the food and wine festival....

It's still value season so the values start at 77 until the 4th of OCtober.

I doubt you'll be able to show up and get a room, I 'm fairly certain the POP is full this weekend.

Don't worry about getting a room without a ressie. September is a ghost town at WDW - empty, empty, empty - and although crowds do pick up a bit in October, the place is still nowhere near full.

Pop has 2,880 rooms. Each of the three All-Star resorts has 1,920 room. This means the total number of rooms at the 4 Value resorts is 8,640. In a slack time of year like the beginning of October, there is no way that all 8,640 rooms will be sold out. Without a ressie you might not get your first choice of room locations, but you will most definitely be able to get a room at one of the Values, no sweat.

I hope you don't eat your words. Yes, there are alot of rooms at those resorts in total. But those inexpensive rooms are in high demand...for those booking last minute, those wanting to extend their stays, and those wanting to check in a day early. Also consider the number of those rooms that may be booked for hurricane evacuees or those traveling with a sports group. Not to mention the possiblity that there are refurbishments going on, therefore rooms unavailable for booking.

I in no way think it is completely impossible, but I wouldn't gamble on it. I booked a 2 bedroom villa at OKW weeks ago, with the expectation that the BCV would never open up. I checked a few days ago, and was able to switch my reservation. Granted, I was able to change to what I really wanted, but that was after securing my second choice just in case because I knew that I wanted a room that night. I guess it depends on the flexibility of the OP with regards to where they stay.

***BTW, the Food and Wine festival begins this weekend, also MNSSHP. I think that will contribute to room availability or lack thereof...IMO.***

I totally agree. I'd never chance going to WDW without a ressie in hand. You may be wasting your entire first day trying to get a room somewhere. Much more efficient to let your dialing finger do the work :flower: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

All it takes is a phone call.

I'd rather spend 30 minutes on the phone in the afternoon, than spend 3 hours at registration waiting for a clean room.

I agree that no one should ever travel without having a ressie in hand, not even to WDW, which has something like 30,000 rooms on site and another 30,000 or 40,000 off-site rooms nearby. You can ALWAYS get a room somewhere, you just can't always get just the room you want in just the resort you want at just the price you want. Travelling without a ressie often means you have to settle for whatever's available, and what's available is not always what you want or need.

However, having travelled to WDW many times in both September and October, I can tell you from long experience that WDW resorts simply do not fill up completely during those months. It's the off-season; fewer people travel during the school year. Yes, certain sections of certain resorts get booked up due to conventions and sports events, but there are always some kind of rooms available, even at the last minute.

That's not to say that you would be able to walk into Pop without a ressie and get a prefered non-smoking room with fridge in Bldg #1 on the third floor with a view of the lake. But you would be able to get SOME kind of room, at one of the 4 values, even if you walked in without a ressie, F&W and MNSSHP notwithstanding.

WDW does not sell out entire classes of resorts even in the summer peak season; they sure aren't going to in the of-season.
