I know there have been rumblings of BLT selling out sometime soon...anyone know about AKV?

Once BLT and AKV are sold out, then is the only option the new GFV? yuck.

I have been out of work since last OCT but have been able to afford out monthly payments due to severance and temping, but I want to add points once I get a job and I really would only want to add at AKV (or maybe BWV or BCV! :lmao:)

We wouldn't do resale that's the reason for the laughing guy above as buying BWV or BCV wouldn't be happening through DVC! ;)

SSR is also still available.

Disney still sells points in the "sold out" resorts. If they don't have what you need currently they will put you on a waiting list for what you want (resort, # of points and UY). It might take a while depending on the resort.

It's an option if you don't want to do resale.

You really should also check out resales as they are at all DVC properties and if you shop you can get an extra year of banked points in addition to a much lower price per poit.

First and foremost, good luck finding a new job.

Second, to answer the question you asked - AKV is nowhere near close to selling out. BLT is supposed to sell out this year but AKV has got a long way to go before it sells out. Look for the sales data posted by forum member wdrl. He can tell you what percentage of AKV is sold already.

AKV has only sold about 62% of its 7.4 million points, leaving about 2.7 million points unsold. In the last 12 months, AKV has averaged about 27,000 points in monthly sales. Unless DVD makes significant changes in its marketing and sales strategies for AKV, it will be several years before AKV is sold out.

WDRL thanks for the info. So on average, DVC should have 100 months of inventory of AKV, WOW! 8+ more years!

While it will be awhile before AKV sells out, I wouldn't count on 8+ more years before it sells out.

DVD's been selling 2+ million points per year. Once BLT sells out, DVD sales may slow some. However, DVD is very good at marketing so sales may not dip below 2 million points per year by much (if at all). Sales will likely shift to SSR/THV and AKV, since many will consider Hawaii too expensive to travel to regularly. Depending on DVD's priorities, they could work through a considerable number of points at both SSR/THV and AKV before sales start at the next WDW DVC resort.

Exactly! DVD will shift focus to whatever resort is currently being marketed and people will still buy in. There has been no resort that failed to sell, when it was the only resort in sales. AKV/SSR could not sell while BLT was on the market and they shifted their marketing strategy to BLT almost exclusively in order to sell it out and take it off the table.

I would suspect they will push hard to sell out AKV prior to GFV's going into sales, otherwise that monorail resort will cannabalize the AKV sales again.

I think it will take more than a marketing change to sell out AKV. There has never been such a wide spread between the cost of resales and Disney sales in the 19 years of DVC existance. I have been looking at an AKV add-on for some time -- and wouldn't consider buying direct, given the $35-$45 per point difference.

Maybe if it were the only WDW resort left, that would help.
