We are going in May and last time stayed at ASMO when it was new. Loved it! We are trying Pop because it is newer too. I hear okay things, but not great....what are your thoughts?

We stayed there last Sept when Ivan was on the way. And it was wonderful! The only thing I would change is we stayed in the 80's and I would recommend the 50's or 60's, 60's being the premiere location. We loved the theming of the entire resort and the transportation was great! Oh, the reason I wouldn't recommend the 80's is because it was quiet a walk from the bus stop and food court and we had a 3 year old with us. But the stay was great all the CM's were very helpful. The resort is clean and you couldn't ask for more in a value. In fact Pop is the only value I would stay at because you don't have to share buses with other resorts. This may pose a problem for us this year. The only reason we aren't staying again this year is because we've celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary and wanted to go Deluxe while we could afford it.

I really think you will enjoy this resort. We thought the food court was good and never had a problem with anything. The laundry room was also very clean. Hope this helps. Enjoy your stay! :wave2:

We love ASMo...but we love POP even more!
~I think the bus service is a little better cause it's not shared with other resorts. ASMu, ASsp and ASMo sometimes share bus.
~You can see Spaceship Earth and at night you can view the fireworks from certain location.
~Mickey soap/shampoo/lotion vs. ASMo soap/shampoo dispenser attached on the wall in the shower.
~You can rent surrey bike and bike along the lake.
~Lake view. ASMo do not any water view (except the pool view)
~CMs dance! They "Do Hustle" in the food court.
~The kids' lounge by the check-in area is nicer and bigger too...very colorful!
~TV is bigger at PoP and the dresser is nicer (Just my opinion).
~Fun pool for the young children. I think PoP have two kiddie pools.
~Music by the pool..it makes you want to sing and dance! It just makes the place more livelier.

We stayed at the POP last summer and really did not have a great experience.

Because of the outside hallways there was always people running down them when we were trying to sleep and then there was the people who would tap the metal railings while they walk down the hallways with their rings, etc. :scratchin it's very hard to sleep through this (and I'm not talking about 9pm either, it's when people get back to their rooms after the fireworks). Since the rooms are non smoking people would hang out in the hallways and smoke and talk all hours of the night!!!

Then there was the bus situation........we waited 30 minutes everytime we wanted to get on a bus at the resort, out in the HOT sun. There is some cover behind the bus stops, but then if you set there then everyone else who comes up gets in the line in front of you and you might end up waiting for the next bus!!! This was the first value resort we've stayed at and probably the last.

I feel it's an OK resort if you are paying in the $59 range but not more than that....... :mickeybar

I loved our stay at ASMO and in some ways prefer it over Pop. However, I had to make a decision tonight about which one to stay at in December for 4 nights before we move over to our DVC resort. DH and I talked about it and chose Pop. Fantasia pretty much stated our exact reasons! Although our bus experience at ASMO was better and we never shared a bus with the other All Stars in our 10 day stay. I think that was unusual. I did reserve a preferred room for Pop, which I know a lot of people think is stupid but last time we were stuck in the 80's and it just felt like such a walk to get to the food court. At Movies we had lucked out and gotten the Dalmations building. Decided to just bite the bullet and pay the 10 bucks a night! Either way you go, you will have fun so just go where your instinct tells you to! I will tell you also, that while ASMO was very clean, our room did have some wear and tear. Marks on the wall, that sort of thing. Our room at Pop was pristine and that was really nice.

we havent stayed at Pop yet
our first visit there is this Aug for 5nights before our 3nights at WL and 6nights at BCV

DH and I have stayed at POP, ASMo, and the Dolphin in the last 6 months--we loved all three. POP is fresh, new, with festive theming, a decent food court (we loved being able to get wine the one time we ate dinner there! Plus the food courts can accomodate many preferences--I'm vegetarian and my husband is not, and we both had plenty of choices), and good transportation.

I do have to agree that POP was very noisy--next time we stay there we will bring our little white noise machine! And we'll ask for a room near the end of the corridor--the footsteps and kids yelling really reverberate against all the hard surfaces in POP.

Our expereince was that we were happy with the transportation at all the hotels, but ASMo was better than POP, bus-wise. You do have to share buses among the AllStars but I think they devote more buses to the AllStars for that reason. We had longer waits at the POP (it's hard to say why--maybe we were just there at a busier time of year).

Pop is my preferred resort. I have not stayed at any other, but have visited them. I am staying at WL in oct, just because once I would like to do a deluxe, and it has the best transportation(for the price). :firefight

My kids and I stayed at Pop a few weeks ago. We really liked it. We were in the 70s in a ground floor room. Very short walk to the buses and a comfortable walk to the food court/pools. This was our first time on-site so we have nothing to compare it to but we really loved it and would stay there again if it's just us and DH decides to stay home again. He doesn't want to go every year. It was a fun place to stay with the music and bright colors and larger than life icons all over the place. My DD7 is still saying "Do the Hustle." :rotfl: As far as noise goes once in a great while I heard people walking by but only when I was awake. It did not wake me up if I was sleeping. Never heard anyone's toilet flushing either. That could be because we were so exhausted at the end of the day we wouldn't have heard anything anyway but it really wasn't a problem like I had anticipated after reading people complain of it. We found the buses pretty efficient. There were a few times we had to wait but looking around the bus terminal it seemed there were times when people at all the resorts had to wait at one time or another. Nature of the beast, I think. Usually we stay off-site in a condo and while I enjoy that experience also as very relaxing being immersed in Disney 24 hours a day is a totally unique experience to us. We kind of felt like we were "special" that week if that makes any sense. I think you'll enjoy Pop. Have a great trip.

I really like the POP it is the only value i have stayed in however so i cant compare it with the All Stars.

WE loved loved loved Pop! It was such a cool resort! It felt so clean and new when we were there in January. I felt like I could actually take a bath because I felt it was so clean. Also, we actually enjoyed the food in the food court. We were pleasantly surprised to find several entrees (ziti & meatballs, chicken strips, burgers) that we liked. I went expecting only sub-par at best but instead it was pretty good. They also had a wide variety of items to order. I had read that some think it is a noisy resort and was a little worried cause DH is a light sleeper, but we never heard anything except for an occassional toilet flushing. We stayed on the 2nd floor in the 80's building which was a little further from the food court and bus stop which could be why it was quieter to us. Also, we loved the bus service! We never had to wait longer than 5 minutes going to or from the parks. Like I said we went in January (over MLK holiday week end) which is traditionally a slower time so your experience with the busses may be a little different. Have a great trip!

Just wanted to jump in here & say that we LOVE POP!!! :teeth: We stayed there in Sept 2004 (thru Jeanne) & again in Jan 2005 - we will be returning there in May 2005 for our 5th anniversary. Couldn't think of a better place to celebrate than with the Mouse! ;) So, after May, we will have stayed there 3 times in 6 months! We used to love the AS Movies - stayed there twice a few years ago - but we really enjoy the POP much more now.

My favorite points of the POP over AS Movies:
- Transportation - no sharing of busses
- Food court - food just seemed better, maybe more variety
- Lake - we enjoy getting a room out by the lake
- Atmosphere - same great icons like AS's, but also fun paths to stroll around the perimeter of the resort with lots of great memorabilia to check out

I think your family will really enjoy POP!! :)

Thanks for the feed back! We reaLLY loved ASMO and my son is still not convinced, but I think the fresh, new atmosphere will win him over and the water areas too!

THANKS! ;) :jumping1:

We had a great time there in December. We'd love to go back sometime. :) We might go there in October. This May we're trying AKL. Our goal is to pretty much try them all at least once. ;)

I stayed at POP in November (the week before Thanksgiving). I absolutely loved it. I have no complaints at all. It was not loud or crowded and the busses were QUICK. I'm planning on trying a different resort this year, but I find myself wanting to stay at POP again, lol.

Will be staying there in 48 days, May 7-11 and it will be my 4th stay in 1 year! This is the ONLY resort I stay at now, and I love the 50's building with the Lady and the Tramp! Its close to the food court, and lots of nice views!

Make sure you actually walk around the property a bit. I wish i had done that sooner... it's so much fun. I made my FI climb up to the hallways in the 80's area to take pictures of him running away from the ghosts from pac man.

:jumping1: we LOVE Pop too....as you can see by how many times we have and going to stay there.....the atmosphere is awesome...the rooms are quite nice...lobby and everything pop and food court are great....bus service has never been a problem....this is definitely the place for us... :worship:
