Does anyone have the Maclaren Vogue Stroller?

I was looking at this on-line and it looks like a good one, and I've heard good reviews on Maclarens, but we don't have a store nearby where I could see one. Right now we have the big travel system stroller and want something lighter for our October trip and for shopping trips. My DS is now two, is 31 pounds and 36 inches tall. At the rate he's growing he's liable to hit 40" by October, and I want something that he can fit in for a while.

Does anyone know anything about this one?

TIA,
Jennifer

I have one, and I love it! It's a great mall stroller. BUT, DS is 18 months & we've had it for a while now. I got a great deal on it as well. It pushes like a dream, and it is easy to fold & store, but there are a few things you should know.

1. the basket is only so so. It's fine for me, but you can't pack lunch for 12 in there!
2. the canopy isn't really effective
3. the recline is not really far back.
4. it doesn't have a cup holder for parent or kid. If you are used to one, you will miss it!

my son sleeps in it occasionally. He seems to like it in general. He's only 22 pounds & 32"

We are probably not taking it to disney because I would hate to lose or break it. I am thinking of a graco kite lite rider or something similar for our trip. I hope I don't miss my maclaren!

Sorry I couldn't help more!

Disneynut: I posted an earlier thread about strollers. I also looked at Maclarens and also Peg Perrego for our Aug. trip to Disney and here is what I found. My son like yours is bigger than average. My son will be 2 in May and is already 32 lbs and 37 in. long. I put him in every stroller I could find ( Chicco, Babytrend, Graco Kite Literider) and then got desperate and tried the more expensive ones mentioned. He was too tall for all of them or had very little head room to grow.
I ended up getting the Evenflo Featherligt and have used it already and love it! It is very light(13 lbs) and has everything I need ( good recline, parent & child cup holder, and large basket accessible from the sides and the front.) But most important my son's head didn't hit the canopy and still had some room to grow.
I picked it up for $59 plus tax and Baby R us.

Hopes this helps.

He is built very long in the torso, and is very comfy in the Vogue; it is his favorite buggy of all. (I own a total of 5 strollers, among them a Chicco Fly2, which the previous poster asked me about. You might say strollers are my hobby, :)) His head still clears the Vogue's hood by at least 3 inches. He is technically over the 40 lb. weight limit, but it still steers beautifully.

The best thing about Maclarens is their maneuverability. Even with a heavy load, they still steer like a dream and roll without effort, much better than any other non-jogger stroller on the market. Personally, I prefer to use a bag slung over the handles while at WDW, we don't use the basket much. With a bag, I can just grab it off to go into rides or get on the bus.
Baskets are more trouble, IMO, and I've found that travelling lighter is very liberating. I use a neoprene bottle sleeve with a belt clip as a cupholder on my Maclaren, it works just fine, and you don't have to remove it the drink when you fold the stroller.

If you really want a compact stroller that will last through heavy weight, your best bet is a Peg Pliko. Those are rated for a total load of about 90 lbs. They are a bit heavy for an umbrella fold design, though, about 14 lbs, as opposed to 9 for the Vogue. The new 2002 models have added compact cupholders for parent and child.

Thanks everyone! I do have stores near here that carry Evenflo, so I will check those out before I spend a ton on the Mac. I will also check out the Pliko again.

We were looking at the MacLaren strollers also, to get for our daughter. We wanted a lightweight one to bring along on vacations. When we went to babies r us though, they were sold out of the one we wanted (which was the $300 one). We saw a new Peg Perego one there though, the Aria, and we loved it. It only has two positions, but holds the child til 45 pounds, I believe. Also, it folds so small and is only 9 lbs 9 oz and has a handle designed to carry it like a suitcase! Its so light so we ended up buying it, plus it was only $170. Just something to check out.
